Expecting disappointment and failure based on the last season or two of the show and the premise of the episode just being "Rainbow Crash" type nickname again when she's already proven herself time and again in front of important (and non-important) Wonderbolts. Hell, other ponies know of that one dudes jealousy and fear of losing the fastest flier record to Dash that he tried to sabotage her entry into the team. If that doesn't qualify her to not gain a title that shits on her abilities I don't know what does. If it's handled as generically as the last episode was, I'm going to be pretty sore about it, especially since this may be the last Dash focused episode we get from the show.

Same here. Month before season 2 aired is when I first marathoned the show. First episode I watched was fall weather friends and I've always enjoyed Tomboy-ish characters. After watching through the first season, I absolutely loved the idea that she didn't hate wearing things that were a bit on the feminine side which was a breath of fresh air in the tomboy trope line. As for waifuing point, I would say half way to late season 2 as I was one of those guys who lost all romantic and sexual drive for a good month or two after starting to watch pony. The warmth of the show was enough at the time.

Tbh, I'm a bit worried. Not for the episode being bad, but because joining the Wonderbolts was Dashie's ultimate dream. If she achieves it now, what's left for her character in the show?
I know this is going to sound really stupid, but I think an interesting twist would be: Dash discovers that the Wonderbolts are jerks and gives up in being one of them. So she could look for new interests. Am I the only one who thinks something like that?

The hoof walls, where horses usually wear horseshoes, are hard and strong. That's the part which got shined in the image and probably the part which she used as a hammer. But other parts of the hoof, like the sole, are more sensitive. Plus, some horses are more sensitive than others. And Dash is always flying, even when Fluttershy and Twilight are walking, so it makes sense for her hooves to be super sensitive. Well, maybe it doesn't make much sense but, I dunno, it's just my thing.

That's a nail file Lotus is holding, on a pony you'd use that to file the hoof walls as well, same as she does with Rarity. It makes no sense that she'd be sensitive to a hoof file but not a hoof polisher and have no problem using the same part of her hoof as a hammer.

But when Lotus had the file, the inside of the hooves was exposed, Dash might be afraid of Lotus touching her there.
As I said, it really doesn't have much sense, but nothing really contradicts my headcanon, so I'm going on with that.

You can rationalize it with a number of shallow excuses, but to change my belief that ponies look wrong without nostrils and leaving them out is due to laziness or lack of skill to get them right, you'll need a stronger argument. I can sort of see how the absence of nostrils in the chibi style is not as bad, but the original picture in question is in a completely different style.

Although, RD is in a weird position where her personal style is also highly practical, she has the shortest mane and tail among mares, earrings and piercings would interfere with that.
The only time she's showing off her clothing seems to be when she's wearing armor or similar, which she obviously can't wear on most occasions. Maybe those spiked bangles and necklaces could be something?

Seeing through cheap tricks - were my actual words - that often result in bland cuteness. I can appreciate genuine cuteness, and even nostrilless ponies can be genuinely cute, but depriving ponies of nostrils is just pointless in itself. for the only show of talent is color composition and a constant proportion the body has in relation to the background as in uniform appearance, also a good artist should know anatomy pretty well. a talented artist has there own style with regards to both of these things.

Apparently, drawing nostrils is not as easy as it seems. I can confirm this. Their placement and shape may be quite tricky and it requires some effort to get it right. Deciding not to draw this natural part of a pony's face means the artist doesn't need to put in the effort. He's cutting corners. Drawing the nostrils properly certainly is the indication of the artist's talent, among other, obviously more important, things.

And now comes possibly the hardest concept for you to grasp: I'm explaining my own view, not yours, nor anyone else's. To me it's a cheap trick, because it doesn't work. When I look at the face of a pony with no nostrils, it might look okay at first glance, but ultimately it looks unnatural to me, especially in the front-view perspective. Eyes and two simple curves just aren't enough to define a pony's face when viewed straight on.

I really don't want to get into a debate about why you shouldn't call a lack of nostrils a style.
