They both trained and studied hard before getting the hang of magic, it would just make more sense if the reason behind Trixie's lackluster abiities is that she never enrolled at a real school for it.
After all, her special talent is magic, even if show oriented. And seeing what the amulet allowed her to do would assume she's just as capable of Twilight compared to the ordinary unicorn.

We have no way to know that. And seeing how incredibly silly some cutie mark interpretations can be, for example Cheerilee, even if it's a possibility, it's still unlikely.

The amulet isn't a good proof. The amulet is pretty damn bullshit. She was way above Twilight's level with that.
Also we've seen that even Rarity who has nothing to do with magic is much better at magic than Trixie could ever be.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was above and beyond even Minuette's abilities (who also studied at the same school Twilight had).

You know, I just realized that Sombra would have never been able to conquer Canterlot or any of the Pegasus cities.
Canterlot is on the side of a mountain and could easily be defended. Also if it was under siege pegauses can bring in supplies without a problem. Fuck they could jsut do it with their airships, sombra doesn't have any way to stop them or control the side of the city that's on the cliff.

And even if he could somehow get acess to an armada of airships to invade that way ponies could just move Cloudsdale over Canterlot, have complete air superiority and manufacture weather to help them fuck those airships.

Earth Ponies are kinda fucked though.
