I once got into an extensive debate here before with a lad that refused to listen to any rationale on my part, which was rightfully driving my own anger to the point I started spouting insult rather than make a cohesive argument. Which in turn lead the other to do the same. Someone else had said "once a person reaches a certain point without considering anything you have to say, it's pointless to continue arguing with them." In this case, DB does have a certain type of average user, perhaps the kind that sees 4chan and /mlp/ as "the dark side of the fandom", in which case using insults you are accustomed to here (or really most any kind of insults) will cause them to shut down reasoning with you, and then what is left are the same users that share your mindset. Users who are likely from here, so realistically it just goes full circle and you end up chatting with other anons from here.
Discussion can be had with others who don't think like you do. It may not always be as comfortable or convenient, however in order to have it you'd need to play the social system by the rules they are use to rather than the ones you prefer. Otherwise, as I said above, why leave this wondrous place of unhindered discussion if that was what you wanted?
