11-54 is the story of a filly exploring a strange facility filled with hostile creatures and unstable architecture.
You've gone quite a ways in the last few days but as it stands, your journey is not over.
So far you were born into this facility from mysterious tubes that litter the building. You've managed to die twice, only to be re-born from the tubes. Along the way you met a pony who is your clone, who is much older than you, and remembers the facility before if fell into disrepair. Your older clone who you've named Spearmint told you about the mental conditioning program that the facility used to run, which left her a bit of a psychological mess. There are various hostile artificial organisms created by the facility that lurk the halls. You are also being hunted by the automated security who seeks to contain the artificial organisms. Along the way you've also meet an investigative reporter by the Name of Photo Bomb who was in a helicopter that crashed into the building. Upon meeting the reporter you choose to name yourself Peppermint. You've just now escaped a bio-computer's lab and you have recently found your way to an aquatic biology laboratory in the facility.

What will you do now?

>There is a door across a hole filled with water in the center of the room.
>To your left is a hole in the wall that leads to an adjacent room.
>The doors behind you are still open.

What do you do?
>>
>>26644901
go to the wall to your left, run and then jump to the other side. then you can push that air conditioner off the edge to give you something to jump to next time.
then we can take the door.
>>
>>26644901
>>26644958
We should take a look in the water first.
Preferably from a distance. Is there anything reflective nearby we could use to peek?
>>
>>26644958
we have a pegasus with us, no need to do any risky jumping. good plan though.
send photo bomb to do it while we cover her and watch the water.
>>
>>26645056
it might be to heavy for her to push alone so how about she carries us over since it's not that far a distance?

>You whisper.
"Hey PB, DO you think you could fly me over to the other side, so we could push that machine into the water?"
>"Why would you want to do that?"
"I want to make something like a stepping stone."
>Photo Bomb nods to you and opens her hooves. You wrap your hooves around her and bring her into a tight hug, which she returns as she hoists you into the air. PB sharply inhales as she takes off, her face looks like she is in some sort of pain.
>As you fly over the water you try to make out what is in the next room, you think you see movement but it's hard to make out with the moving water.
>Photo Bomb sets you down very quickly and locks up for a moment after reaching the ground. She sighs and approaches the machine.
>The two of you manage to push it into the water very quickly, as it splashes in you hear splashing around in the next room.
Even though the machine is not tall enough to stick out of the water, it only is submerged about 6 inches in.
>spearmint cauciously edges tword your stepping stone and looks up at you as if she's asking for permission to use it.

What do you do?
>>
>>26645478
I think I might be seeing things. But I see two things that look vaguely monster-like in the back over there.

You've gotten good on that paranoia thing, Bath.
>>
>>26645478
pick up a stone and then throw it in the water farish away from you. after that tell spearmint to quickly jump over here.
>>
>>26645478
There are definitely things in the other room. Spear should get across before they have a chance to cut her off.

>There has got too be something moving around in that other room.
"Spearmint, hurry."
>She give you a little nod and jumps on top of the thing you shoved in the water.
>As she splashes across you hear something splash in the water.
>You toss a rock into the water to try and scare it off but your rock doesn't seem to change anything. Spearmint make it across and leaves a few wet hoof-steps as she exits the water.
>Nothing has happened yet, but Spearmint and PB seem to be shying away from the waterside. You decide to follow suit.

What do you do?
>>
>>26645865e
tell photo bomb to open the door while you point your gun at the water with spearmint. then once it's safe proceed in.
>>
>>26645865
check the door, have photobomb watch the water for us.

Did we not give photobomb a gun in a previous thread? coulda sworn we did that.
>>
>>26645889
Yes, she has the 30-06 with 6 tranquilizer darts. I forgot to update the items list.
>>
>>26645865
Lets move towards the door. Spear or Photo can check the other side while we watch the water.
>>
>>26645865
We need to be watching the things in and near the water, weapons ready to fire. One of us should take the same aproach with that door. Spearmint on the door? Us and PB on the water? (PB isn't confident with the weapon from what I remember, so she makes me a little nervous covering things alone)

>As you cough and hold back vomit you hear Spearmint calling to you, "Pepper. There's something here."
>You look back to see a tentacle like appendage sticking out of the water.
>The room ahead contains a rather large corpse and a broken glass tank.

>You also see a doorway around the corner of the broken tank as well as another door near the entrance of this room.

>Putting 2 and six together you figure that the corpse in the room belongs to the large creature in the tank. You also figure that it enjoys snatching things that walk around the surface. You signal over to Spearmint and PB to follow you, as you enter the room near the entrance.
>You carefully open the door to find an office with black mold growing all over the floor. The lights don't work.
>Once Spearmint and Photo Bomb get in the room with you, you close the door.
"Hey, I'm pretty sure that we need to stay back from that broken tank. I think that the big thing in there is what broke it."

Also, eveyone should move as quietly as possible. In fact we should all stand still for a moment to see if the tapping stops.

Then lets do this, and hope that gauze holds up against the black mold and keep breathing through our nostrils only.

>You motion for both Spear and PB to be quiet while the thing is poking around outside, while checking things inside the room as quietly as possible.
>Checking the room you find a loose letter opener on the floor as well as a soggy computer with chords still plugged into the wall.. It seems to have rust and mold growing on it. Inside the desk and filing cabinet, you find an excess of water damaged papers. The desk also yields some paper clips and a stapler.
>Checking the vent, you find that the cover pops right off. You can fit into the vent but Spearmint and PhotoBomb are a bit too large.

What do you do?
>>

Spearmint nods with her eyes still wide, "be careful in there."

>A torrent of squealing and thrashing around comes from outside. which slowly dies down.
>As you wait for the creature to bleed out you try knocking the duct down with your telekinesis. After a bit of strain, you manage to knock it down.
>Looking inside the hole you find a dark empty space that seems to have beams and trusses running through it. This space also looks like it is flooded. >It seems like the thing is still breathing but it's not moving much besides that.In an odd sort of way you kind of think that this creature is cute. You wish you could keep it as a pet but you're almost certain that it's way too dangerous to domesticate.
"Hey guys, help me toss this thing into the water."
>Both PB and Spearmint help you toss it int the water. As you move the thing it meekly tries wrapping it's tongue around your neck. Once you all flop the creature into the water the larger beast almost immediately launches out of the water to snatch up your offering.
>Taking the oppertunity you all slip past while the creature is busy and look into the next room. A lower section of this room seems to be flooded. You can see a sliding glass door on one side of the room, as well as another sliding glass door in the lower part of the room which is submerged.

"I was hungry?"

"Just know that you're probably gonna have to eat one too. I don't want to dip into those MREs until we're out of options... or out of here."
>"Well you should know that ponies outside don't act like that."
>You kind of shrug PB off and you find the soft part of the creature and take a bite.
>The meat is cold... and it tastes awful it's way more bitter than you expect. even though you feel like vomiting you muscle through it and finish you first bite.
>Spearmint looks at you with a bit of worry in her eyes, "How-how was it?"
"It's really bad."
>"Come to think of it, killing it like that may have ruined the meat. I think some crustaceans release hormones into their system when you hurt them that ruins the taste."
>PB looks at Spearmint, "How would you know that?"
>Spearmint looks a bit confused, "I... I don't know... But could you both try to cath some of those things alive for me?"
>As you and PB try to get some of the crustaceans alive, Spearmint grabs a box and empties it out, just to fill it with some water. She looks around for a bit and gets some stuff to fuel a fire and after telling you and PB to step back lights one to boil the water.
Spearmint start trying to put them in the box of boiling water with her own telekinesis but seems to be having a bit of trouble.

>"I'm not. I'm more worried about you. and I'm not... I've never really had something I cared about like you. It's like I've always been scared, but now I'm also scared for another reason and... I don't really know. I think the creatures are ready."

When all you have is each other it easy to form emotional bonds. Let's tell Photo bomb that she's our friend. Ask if she feels the same way.

Though maybe we should try poking the tied up monster with a stick using telekinesis so that we can be sure it won't break out? It'll give us time to run too.

I just wanted to let anyone who plays my quests in on some limitations I'm working with for runs times.
Before I only had stuff keeping me busy on Sunday nights. with my sudo-job, but as of a couple of weeks ago I've been going in to write stuff for my sudo-job on Tuesdays so I may try to run my quests from my sudo-job on Tuesday nights. but updates will be slow if I can run at all on Tuesdays. Also, my friends have started up a Monday movie night thing at the local dollar theater on Mondays so I will be starting late on Mondays.
So
Sunday: Not Running
Monday: Late start
Tuesday: May run if I don't have much to do.

The rest of the days of the week I am free at night.
On the bright side The time change just happened here so things occur an hour earlier for me now which may be nice for people that don't have seasonal time charges.
And that's it.

It sounds like we could possibly have a fairly convenient way of killing it, with the livewires n all, but i'm not sure how good of distracting bait it would be. I would think it'd take a while for the other creatures to even notice its corpse.

Not to mention a lot of them probably aren't roaming freely enough to even take advantage of that free meal. But you could be right of course.
>>
>>26777611
Yeah, you're right, being DEAD is bad, we lack teammate so we have EXTREME blind spot in our backside which any creeps could use to it's advantage, I'm sure there are other opportunist things waiting for distraction that have intelligence for ambushes or sneak attack.

If we had a team, then it would be a different story.

Yeah, both deaths were pretty traumatic for Pepper. The second one messed Spear up more than us, since she had to see the aftermath, and we did it to protect her, since we think she's no longer linked to the rebirth pods.

Seriously though, the quest is great. Go catch up on Anonpone when you have time.

"Do you think you could set that thing on fire?"

"Alright..."

"Thank you Spear, I'm not sure I would have made it without you."

"Shh, shhh. It's okay, I'm fine. You did good."
>You sit there stroking her back you letting her get it out of her system for a while.

>PB seems to be lying on the floor with her gun to her side, which reminds you that you lost your gun. but at least you got your crowbar back.

Photo Bomb, still on the ground asks, "Can we, stay here for a bit. I'm not feeling... good."

Monsters don't shut doors. It's a robot, or a pony.
Hopefully it's not a certain pegasus.
Move forward slowly. Keep our eyes on the closed doors we pass.
>>
>>26788636
Continue along, investigating closed rooms that we pass on the way. If it's the nutty pegasus we've probably alienated him for good, so if it's him, just blast first, no questions. Though I'm sure it'll require a good explanation to PB later.
>>
>>26788636
Best stop talking too much and too loud until you've reached the Galley. And best steer clear of that door when moving ahead and keep your weapons/magic ready.
Could be that one Pegasus, if he somehow managed to follow us that far and through all that trouble. Or maybe it's even another artificially made pony living here, in which case you don't know it's intention.

Didn't Spearmint know some ponies here? Maybe she recognises some names?

>You notice an entrance to the back rooms on both sides of this counter.
"Spearmint, you need to take the right passage PB, take the left, I'm going up the middle."
>"B-but that..." PB stutters.
"If we don't take all three paths it's going to pick us all off!"
>Photo Bomb seems to be crying a bit, "-okay..."
"Don't worry, scream and we'll be right there."
>The three of you split up. You climb over the counter with your weapons ready.
"Uh, hi... My name's Pepper."
>The colt tries to twist his neck to get a better look at you, "Pepper? Are you a?.. Fuck it. You need to get out of here!"
"I don't want to leave you here. We're trying to find a way to escape this place."
>"Look, I don't care who you are. Just tell the queen that Twenty has moved to the kitchens on floor 22 quarter 3." I'll come back to life when he's done with me.

"Where'd it go?"
Try to resist the urge to say "hang in there".
>>
I'm going to have to leave it here even though we're on post 488 because I'm a little tired. Good morning I guess.

Where's the queen?

Goodnight, Bathwater.

Quest: "No, we're going to get you down first. Then you can lead us somewhere safer, OK? We're strangers in this part of the facility. We're probably better off with you with us. By the way, did you happen to see where it went?"

Also, look up. It might be stuck to the ceiling somewhere.

Addendum: Psionic attacker. Kitchen. Check for possible tinfoil for hat-making use.
>>

Tinfoil does nothing you need wire mesh, copper is good gold is ideal.

Not sure if serious, but aluminum has some of the best conductive properties just short of silver/gold and on-par or superior to copper. It is most definitely useful against radio-frequency penetration. To stop magnetics, nothing you listed would work, at that level you need iron/ferrous metals.

TL;DR: Tinfoil works as well as any other metal to block RF waves. If we're seriously going to debate what works against 'actual' psionic mind-control beams, well, we'd better take it to /x/.

Every day, I learn more about science from anonymous contributors to My Little Pony CYOAs on a Polynesian pretzel-making forum than I ever did from my professors in college

Just fuck my life up fampire

Honestly, what would work best is a led helmet or some kind of faraday cage depending on how psionic powers operate.
>>
they should tell us everything they know about the creature.
>>
>>26797367
That's just the problem, nobody knows how psionic powers operate. Lead shields against ionizing radiation, that is, beams composed of small bits of matter such as x-rays, or atomic particles like beta or gamma rays. The density of the lead absorbs the particles which would pass through lighter materials.

Any sheet metal or tight screen of wire with good conductivity forms a faraday cage if it totally surrounds the object to be protected, but less "total" solutions can still shield parts of the body.

Let's get him down and let him lead us to relative safety instead of asking him more questions first. I think under the circumstances he's going to be trustworthy enough for that.
