Because Agnes Garbowska saw one single background dragon in the show and decided to base an entire town off of that. There was only one dragon in the show that did, that purple and yellow one from Dragon Quest.

These "Hero" items look interesting, if those are even the items they are referring to. They seem to be medals of some sort or maybe magical items that allow them to "transform" into their armors. And no, I'm not suggesting the "leaked" animatic is real.

But the info so far says it was inspired by one of their episodes, meaning singular. Whatever these are weren't important enough to be in the show after one episode so they shove them off into comic territory which falls into ambiguous canon status in hopes to bring interest back to the comics.

If only these new comics were a spin-off that ignored everything in the mainline comics and only took from what was established in the show/books, I'd be more excited about it.
Also this girl dragon news could be good, if they go far far off the characterization that Mina was.
