There's actually a "Minutemen" ending to the game where neither the BoS or Railroad die with the Institute, but it requires very specific conditions, such as starting, but not completing Maxson's first quest, doing all Railroad quests, but assaulting the Institute with the Minutemen instead, BEFORE taking the Castle.

I saw the ending and it has the BoS recognizing the Minutemen as having claim to the Commonwealth and backing off, while the Railroad seeks to have them as allies. Pretty neat.

So would wastelanders feel shame from being naked? Usually it seems most wasteland pones try to wear as much clothing/armor as possible to protect themselves. Being caught out in the middle of a firefight or being mauled by a mutant naked would pretty much ensure your death. Not to mention exposure to the harsh elements as the weather is unpredictable and not controlled to be tolerable like in pre-war equestria.

So being naked could have a connotation of 'weakness' or vulnerability. If you come across a wastelander who has no clothing you feel pity for them, and then that slowly turns into a social shame.

With that in mind, I imagine any character that came from pre-war (like the ever popular cryo freeze) have an incident where they run around nude/minimal clothing in a settlement and everyone begins looking at them funny. Would the townsfolk think they were whores and this lead to some awkward shenanigans?

Roll with the Railroad until you get to the Undercover quest in the Institute. Continue with the Institute until you get the quest to go to Mass Fusion. Alert the BoS and ride with them instead.

Once you do that quest, talk to the Railroad about breaking your cover, and they'll suggest attacking the Institute with the Minutemen.

With the BoS, don't talk to them on the Prydwen until you get to the Undercover bit with the Railroad (can be with Danse and his team as much as you'd like)

I know F4 threw RPG out the window and I really don't give a damn. The idea of trying to insert myself into a game has always made me feel like a stupid asshole.

My only complaints with the game are minor. Things like the settlement system being clunky as fuck when Beth had things like Halo's Forge to draw inspiration from and do it right. I'm also pissed at how small all the vaults in the game are as well as how few there are. Also, that vault 111 has no fucking event flag that trips once you've left, so even traveling back into it a year of game time later still has your protagonist saying "I HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE" when you try to sleep in a bed.

Also whatever the fucking trigger is for spawning leveled power armor. I stayed away from one particular area until I was level 50 and fucking T-45 spawned where I'd gotten T-60 on the previous playthrough.

Fusion cores shouldn't exist, or should be limited in supply and have an infinite charge. The T-51's power supply is supposed to last for I think a millennium? If you need to restrict use of power armor in a series where it's never been necessary before, you either need to balance it or make it scarce.

Well, what made up for it then? What did 4 do so well that you are willing to still suck Todd's dick over his failure of a game? The combat is leagues better than 3 and NV yeah, but that isn't saying that much. It's still not that good. The gun 'customization' may be expansive, but there really isn't that much choice, just a bunch of straight upgrades more or less and in the end the system is literally the Skyrim Smithing/Enchanting system just carries over to guns. The 'Legendary' weapon system really confirms this. Exploration is not as good as 3 and the environmental storytelling 3 and a bit of NV had is all but gone. The Settlement system is basic as fuck and makes the NV and 3 mods look like masterpieces of game design.

If you mean 'muh Specialz system' then even that failed. I was totally on board with a new, improved, leveling system. The old system is frankly a broken unbalanced shit show, but unfortunately it just sucks way too much to even be remotely an improvement. I thought it would force your characters to become even more specialized than before, but now I see it's done the exact opposite and you become a jack of all trades easily. In fact the system encourages you to branch out a fuckload because of the arbitrary level caps on perk ranks being so massive. None of the new Perks are really that interesting or fun to play with and most of them are just boring 'do more damage/get betterer at thing' type of shit.

The game is well paced, but it means that you never feel stronger really until you suddenly break the game and everything becomes too easy too quick. And then all you're left with is the shallow and boring Quests and all the aborted RPG features. I have no idea why anyone would play this game after the 10-20 hour mark.

I do love the Commonwealth just because it does feel a lot more 'lived in' than any other inhabited wasteland. Lots of the scraps being left behind made sense because someone else was using them, or dropped them when they got jumped by scavengers.

There's also a FO4 quest for the brotherhood where a scribe talks about how mutated animals have natural radiation resistance in their blood.

It's all about emotion. There needs to be something more going on besides just dying. If he dies protecting someone, it can't just be some random asshole, he/she has to mean something to the protagonist. If he dies fighting for something, it has to be something important to him personally. And most of all, it should be a fitting end.

There's a certain FoE fic that I want to point at as an example, but it's impossible to do without spoiling everything. It's short, and if you've read it, you'll know what I'm talking about. When that protagonist dies, there's a lot of stuff going on emotionally, not just with the protagonist, but with the rest of the cast.

Look at other stories in which the protagonist dies, not just FoE stories, and analyze them.

Actually, I was brainstorming this idea in my head for a little writing challenge, and might as well just drop it now for shits and giggles.
My favorite part about writing for Fallout Equestria is that you can tell basically any kind of genre story you want because the setting is so large.
So for this writing challenge, you will do just that.

Well if they never point it out, no one would know. Even in NV Arcade still lets slip he's gay even if you don't try to flirt with him if you choose a certain dialogue option.

A certain changeling fic did it pretty well by hinting that the MC was gay without beating it over your head. He described the physical attributes of stallions more than mares. One time called one 'cute' but it was in a patronizing way. And pretty much flat out ignored and was indifferent to a mare having a crush on him.

Though later on he tried to get a stallion to give him the D by turning into a mare. So eventually his sexuality was officially brought up, but unlike the original or other stories it didn't beat you over the head and talk about how much pussy/dick they got all the time before it actually was relevant. Or have him literally drool and jerk off to stallions las if he was a horny teenager like Pip.

Not yet, but it's clear that it's on the decline and won't last much longer.

Think about it, just a few months ago we were hoping that the end of PH would mean either the death of the fandumb or a revival as a whole slew of authors would try to take it's throne. But we got neither, it was a non-event, and hell people keep pumping out shitty Blackjack pictures like nothing has changed.

Then we caught wind of Homelands, Somber's sequel, and thought that'd create an upset. But no, no one on either side gives a shit at all. Rational people/haters said 'fuck this' and ignored it, and Somber's die hard fans don't give a shit and keep jacking off to pictures of Blowjob. The fact that after several months there has not been a single fanart on the story, and yet like 40 new BJ pictures popped up, speaks for itself.

Then perhaps the biggest let down of all happened. Many people here believed Todd's lies and thought F4 would revitalize the fandom by adding in a lot of new concepts to play with and getting fans to be interested in FoE. But it turned out that F4's story/lore/character/concepts/etc are literally the worst part of the game and there has been no flood of new stories from it. In fact the stories have crawled to a trickle.

FoE is stagnant. Most people who write stories follow boring, predictable, setups and ideas that have literally been done about 600-700 times before. This bankruptcy of ideas is not helped by the fact that F4 was so bland too, or the fact that so many of these stories are unfinished, unpolished, and ultimately unpopular. Any Fan fiction writer who wants a decent size audience will be shooting themselves in the foot and restricting their imaginations by trying to piggyback off FoE. In fact it will hurt them more than it helps them.

FoE is not just a beaten dead horse, it's one that has been grinded into thin red paste. The only thing left to do is leave it and find another bandwagon to jump on.

Combat was nice, much more focus on the dogfighting aspect over the typical knightly jousting people do with fliers.

The notebook usage was a good way of mapping instead of making their TMDs some not!Pipbuck.

I await the next chapter to see how it finishes,this feels like a half chapter more than anything, but its a good place to stop.

The usage of this being Snap's journal has a certain issue with surprise and fate here. You make it so she can't die before writing, which is a shame as the writing style, and Belmor, lend itself very well to achieving that hard possibility of survival optional story. Not sure how to fix it, though I delude myself that she may be writing this as a thing trapped in some dungeon of Red Eye's awaiting some ghastly fate, inasmuch as its a thing she does when there is time.

Feather plucking is a definite one that would work, each one being something the pegasus needs to fly, to be free. You could easily have them pinned and trapped while doing so, reinforcing their loss on top of whatever goes on midfight.

You could also cut their wings off and use that if you want to make it really clear, like a good reason for a vengance story or something that couldn't have happened to a nicer villain when he loses his bodyguards and goes amongst a group he thought was an ally.

These days I'm content with my characters being left as visual tidbits rather than a written journey across three different countries. Which in itself can be a subject of chapter fatigue, ergo, consideration for redo.

Strangely though of all things I'm afraid of kicking my story off because I'm afraid my written portrayal of dolphin nose pone/Ivory won't live up to the crestfallen cute perception made of her.

In the same line of us trying to desist the potential author from giving his pegasus needless contrived fangs, anybody wanna take a gander dissecting character on the right out of potential snowflake syndrome?

-Former candidate to be Overstallion of his Stable, inadvertently became First Citizen/Mayor of equivalent of Vault City in his region. Core of story is him questioning his ability as leader after whole settlement is sacked and enslaved.
-Lost his position and home because of Ivory's father, and dwells on his credibility as a leader over the chapters.
-Talent is determining how both parties can get something they can both be happy with out of a dispute, or arrange events they lose everything if he's feeling vindictive.
-Has a very vindictive streak
-Heavy Jet/Turbo user, for the purpose of socially blending in as a disguised slaver so no-one abducts his Crystal Pony companion
-Hypomanic tendencies as a result of thin gene pool of Stable upbringing, combined with his chem addiction switches from roleplaying like a slaver for Ivory's benefit to being a genuinely verbally abusive leader destroying her self esteem for her proxy association.
-To subvert the likes of Littlepip or Blackjack who get's all the smex, Copper eventually becomes impotent from his ordeals.
-The twist is he becomes a villain whom Ivory needs to stop. Emphasized by the sets of companions abandoning him.

After a timeskip he leads a campaign of genocide against everyone in the region, and that it's when it comes to Ivory Daze's turn to stop him.

Given it's an 80 percent chance the fic will never happen, it wouldn't hurt at this point to display what could've been [a mess]. That and I need the grains of pessimistic truth /foe/ can sling at me.

In truth, his armor was meant to be a crude raider like foot/hoofball outfit with an overcoat, but the artist mistakingly went with the Lonesome Road dlc armor.

It's still up for internal debate whether to have Copper become the true antagonist, or after a period of debating whether he should save the ponies who screwed him and his family over, to finally help stand against the faction seeking to wipe out everypony in their region.

But yeah...the mohawk horn may be dumb. Though I can resort with switching his design with a very old rp character I had here.

The story pulls no punches by eventually killing off one of the main characters featured on the very title page though as of late it feels as if that's character death is like the Boromir LotR situation or even Steelhooves in which the other characters, both old and new survive impossibly lethal ordeals and survives, cementing the idea the rest of the cast will eventually survives to the end.

It's been called the ASOIAF of Fallout Equestria and that is true for both merits and flaws. First with the bad, there are way too many characters and long runnings that may take a length of time to conclude each of them effectively. However I personally find the cast to be entertaining, who aside from the 'good guys' a blend of antivillains and the truly despicable contending against each other and have one admirable quality to them where if you don't like this character, you'll sure to like the other character.

The author makes a gamble depicting how main fic characters like Velvet, Calamity, Regina, etc and their children behave and adapt in a post-sunshine era, and that is not actually the main focus of the story. I say because I personally find the author not only did a much better job portraying their personalities more faithfully than Somber did, Philweasel did a *good* job.

The same goes with his portrayals of affairs in the Zebralands, again, much better than Somber is currently achieving.

There, that is my two cents of contribution to the bookclub.

(In the same way we can suspend our disbelief the possibility Pink Eyes, MN7, Heroes, Frozen Skies, Treasure Hunting, Wasteland Economics can geographically fit alongside the main story) But nonetheless as far as interpretive post-sunshine era fics go, B&W is up there.
