Princess Applejack

Howdy, partner!

What you see here began as a series of comedy-centric stories with the concept of an alicorn-ascended Princess Applejack trying to change a mismanaged Equestria for the better by humorously interacting with the other, quite lazy, princesses.

Not to mention a whole bunch of Changelings with nothing better to do but cause mischief.

The whole thing was set in motion by this gem:

~~~~~
>So, wait, why am Ah' a princess again?
>Because you seem to be the only goddamn one of those ponies who gets that a Princess need to do actual work regarding maintenance of the kingdom. You know how much city planning or trade negotiations Twilight or Luna have done? Fucking nothing. Everyone is obsessed with the world ending threats they think I should fight, but the minute I point out the free health care I have to work to maintain everyone goes quiet. And don't even get me started on Cadence, who can't even manage a basic meeting with the Equestrian Games representative. Fucking annoying. Go do actual princess stuff, because apparently everyone else got the pamphlets mixed up or something and thinks "Princess" means "Beat cop."
~~~~~

Are you feeling creative? Try your hand at writing a story! No contribution is too small and we love having new folks around.

If you're more artistically inclined give a drawing or sketch a shot. Don't fret too much; it doesn't have to be fancy and we appreciate artwork a lot.

If that isn't your style either, writers always need feedback. So tell us what you liked - and what you didn't - to help us improve.

If you are unsure about anything, do not be afraid to ask. We will gladly bring you up-to-date or explain anything you feel is unclear.

Thread 111! Three times the one for the number one princess!

RARITY WAS RIGHT
>>
>>25673938
Not to dispute her rightness, she very much was right, but she did go about it wrong.

Like, forcing Cadence to come out and say it without looking like she was pulling the mask off a scooby doo villain would've helped. Right now it looks like Rarity exposed a coverup.

There have got to be easier ways of getting concrit.

And remember when that one omake happened where AJ was like "Please let me do something please let me do something give me development" and then someone made a joke about everything being solved without her moving, and not getting any screentime or development and being sad?

...Think she'd still be sad?
>>
>>25674022
>Right now it looks like Rarity exposed a coverup.
Except it is a cover up. They actively hid the fact that 18 was pretending to be Cadence. Shiny was in on it. Chrysalis, Celestia, AJ, Twilight, etc. They decided to play the politician and lie to the people, hiding the truth. My real disappointment was AJ. She should have been the one to be honest to the people and be transparent about it in the first place, instead of being part of the conspiracy.
>>
>>25674217
Think he meant in the 'Government conspiracy" or more accurately "Changeling conspiracy" way, instead of that.

And AJ was just happy the CE was running fine. She picked ease of dealing with her paperwork storm over being transparent, and you can hardly blame her for that.
>>
>>25674217

>>
>>25674234
It is a government conspiracy. High government officials both pony and changelings knew about it. Many crystal guards knew about it.

>She picked ease of dealing with her paperwork storm over being transparent, and you can hardly blame her for that.
I completely can.
By knowing about it and not making efforts to make them reveal it on their own terms, she implicated herself in the cover up. It wasn't a matter of if people found out, it was WHEN people found out about the lie, she's going to have to face an even bigger ax than paperwork storm. People generally don't like being lied to.

Sorry, I'm already in the Cult of Lavan and the Worst Ling

Though I can wait for 32 to eventually get told that he got offeasy getting his ass beat and his home under siege because the Crystal Empire crew had their feelings hurt and that's much more important.
>>
>>25678065
what she needs is the proper motivation. Say someone she cares about getting shot when someone tries to assassinate her. Only this time Luna points out that she could have stopped it all with a simple shield spell.

Perhaps elaborates on the uses other simple spells have and how not learning in her position can have serious consequences for those around her?
>>
>>25678159
I'd buy that, and God willing I';d do my damndest to write it out.

On the occassion that Cheeselgs of any kind are not involved.

We're saturated with the damn things. And having Chrysalis bust the door down in that aborted story just rubbed salt (read: Cultural Enrichment) into the wounds.
>>
>>25678104
Not necessarily. Maybe next time someone has AJ agree (key word is agree Luna) to learn from anypony of non-black coloration, they get the ball rolling themselves.

I mean we had her agree to learn from Celly, but it is way more entertaining to have her fuck around with Shiny.

We tried to set something up with Twilight...and she disappears into her lab fixing the danger room until the next arc.

>>25678146
That will happen, because 32 is Chrysalis without the rabid fanbase to write her up

>>25678108
get her to not be forcefeeding her and people will stop getting her out of it
>>25678159
We have had her time and again say fuck everything that isn't telekinesis. Fuck the Chrysalis thing was only because AJ was too chickenshit to tell her about her mother but unwilling to let Arana come and rub it in to make her feel better.
>>25678177
people getting hurt for her last time motivated her to create a unit with the one who got hurt as second in command. And people wouldn't have had to bring in bugbitch if he didn't write into a corner.
>>
>>25678197
right sure, that's what happened LAST time. One of the key elements to this is someone like say Luna pointing out (In a much less bitchy way)

Hey, look! Your refusal to learn even basic spells got someone hurt! Wow, if only there were a way to easily prevent this. If only it could have been stopped. But no, I guess being stubborn and you pride are far more valuable to you than the lives of your family, surrogate and otherwise, and it doesn't matter if you are the last mare standing on a pile of their corpses at the end of the world.

At least you won't have dirtied your hooves with filthy unicron or alicorn magic.

Totally. Worth it.

Y'know, something to really get into the chinks of her armor and break down her stubborness.
>>
>>25678042
Maybe if you weren't is so dedicated that one terrible anthro picture?

Seriously, I get its a nice picture, but you clearly didn't think of any way to actually include Luna in there and make it work. At least the guy who used Chrysalis thought about why she would work.

Story is more important than a checklist.
>>

>>25678320
Nigga for real

Celestia evidently wasn't going to teach her Alicorn Magic, she's too busy being but buddies with the Crystal Harem.

Twilight can't either, she's too busy fucking around with Twience and shit with Chrysalis

Luna? The fuck does Luna really do? Fuck all, that's what she's contributed.

So fuck me in the anus if I tried something novel you nigger.

>>
>>25678319
Except there is no way Luna could say it without being a bitch. And AJ would rebel and try to be better her way. Because Luna has only JUST learned that imposing her will and forcing others to learn the way she wants isn't always the way to go. But having this I told you so moment with AJ would refute that.

Well,
>she refuses to help with work because it makes more sense to bring in AJ.
>She is in a not relationship with 56
>She teaches 29 magic
>She hates Queen Changelings and is chomping at the bit to kill one
>She has the whole thing in LNPP land
>>
>>25678354
But why can't those first two? Those stories arent exactly all encompassing. Why not? Other people write them doing something else on occasion?

The story was what was needed here. Why Luna? I don't mean that in a negative way, I mean that in a broader sense. What's the story behind Luna wanted to teach you this why does she have such a stake in this matter. Why is this personal to Luna, enough that she would at least pretend to be a different person just for a little bit. Just long enough to teach her.

What this gives to Applejack is apparent, but what is Luna's story in this? The mini Ark with 29 had a purpose for her. She was special in that, it wouldn't have worked in with any other character. What story are you trying to tell besides someone learns magic? What's the big picture?
>>
>>25678411
No way she could say THAT. but there are more gentle ways.

And it isn't about imposing her will, it is drawing out AJ's through motivation. Not external motivation, but her internal desire to keep ponies safe and happy.

Also, please remember that good does not mean nice and sometimes you have to be harsh with people to get them to do the right thing.
>>
>>25678486
Luna's bit was she knew best and AJ HAD to learn because Luna thought she should.

As for the other two Twilight is an also-ran outside of main storylines and we actually wrote her out of the plot since she got that orb.

Celestia is another matter. Aj and her can't have a scene together without one getting to laugh at the other or accidentally rubbing salt in the wound We would run into a "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me"

>>25678526
Her motivation was she feels Aj needed to learn because Alicorn-magic=what's the point to her. Harsh. The thing AJ doesn't deal with well and lashes out against? We have to handle her with the softest of kid gloves or she will ragequit because no matter what she doesn't want this.
>>
>>25678545
Right...so MAKE her want it. Give her reasons to want it. To need it.

The pieces are on the board already. Spike getting shot. 7 getting pummeled to meat in her untrained rage. Being unable to help in ponyville just last thread.

She has lots of motivations already to learn to control this stuff, because it won't go away and it is physically dangerous to continue to leave it uncontrolled. Not to her, but to those she cares for.

Which is stronger, her stubborness? Or her love of family when applebloom needs a blood transfusion from due to a bullet wound she could have stopped?
>>
>>25678146
I think the only thing that can end 32's suffering at this point is a Bull .44, a maxed out gunslinger perk, and someone hitting the execute critical button in VATS.
>>
>>25678598
>You exploded into gore, which melted down, flowed back together, and coallesced into you once more.

'...rats'

>your new name is 'ling 1000'
>>
>>25678582
Well, if AB gets hurt now (don't shoot Applebloom) it will be her being inattentive from her princess duties which would make things worse.

Here's a thing. Make Rarity do it. She is a magic user on her level that could teach her a thing without going into the super showoffy stuff that she doesn't want. It would be a way to rebond after AJ punches her face in.
>>
>>25678545
>Luna's bit was she knew best and AJ HAD to learn because Luna thought she should.

And that's not a bad thing, it's just a matter of you knowing where the story is going and why this is going to pay off. Hell, that's literally the exact plot of the 29 mini, isn't it? That Luna stomped in because she was feeling upset and decided to show 29 why her methodology was the best.

That's a little difficult to compare since the end result of that was "Luna discovers she was wrongs, comes to a new realization about herself, and grows as a person" to match up with "29 understands what she was trying to do and grows as a person when he realizes his dreams do not match up to his real life." But the same principal can apply, even if a 1-1 scenario wouldn't fit.

>Celestia is another matter. Aj and her can't have a scene together without one getting to laugh at the other

You mean actually make the story funny and interesting and full of chemistry and back and forth interactions while they were learning?

Yeah. Wouldn't want that.
>>
>>25678627
I'm not against Celestia, I'm against shoot Granny Smith so Luna can do it. I was listing a possible reason why we abandoned the idea of AJ learning from her after it was set up
>>
>>25678651
shooting someone isn't about who the teacher is though. It's about getting AJ to budge.

Do you have...another way perhaps?
>>
>>25678627
You mean the part that if Luna was "right all along" about AJ it vindicates her shoving lessons down her throat. It also gives her full reason to shut down any back talk by pointing out AJ's failures and basically be a bitch for threads on end.
>>
>>25678682
We already have one set up. She verbally agreed to go learn the basics from Celestia, we just have to do it. Probably OOCO because of obvious reasons.

"I Sweat to my mother if this is one more thing..."

>"Well I was looking over your books again an-"

"That's it! No more!"

>"Come on now you can't just leap out o- what are you doing?"

>Horn alight the princess's eyes dance with unholy glee.

"You wanna know why I do the bare minimum here!"

>With a twist of her head the mare sends a bolt of magic at Applejack making her wings flare out in surprise.

>"What in tarnation!?"

>Suddenly Celestia let's out a happy sigh of relief.
>Applejack can only watch as she seems to shrink and settle into the now twice as big chair with a smile.
>That wasn't important as the sheer weight of something hanging off her head drew her attention.
>What in the pits of Tarterous was it?!

"Oh that would be the sun Applejack."

>"Pardon?"

>Applejack's stomach tightens into a ball as her horn feels like it's about to snap in half.
>When did it start glowing?

"Well since you keep coming to me about all my mistakes I figured you could walk a mile in my horseshoes."

>"And the..ngh..fact that Ah already do yer paperwerk?"

>The alicorn simply waves a hoof at the mare.

"Why do you think I have a beucracy? I had them handle it before you came along, you just happened to make the whole system run smoother. By the way if you don't start moving it soon the ponies will start to notice."

>"Wh-what?"

"Move the sun, otherwise it will stay noon all day long."

>"N-no..."

"Come on now, surely a strong earth mare like yourself can do it."

>"Darn it Tia, Ah don't know how!"

>Head bowed again Applejack strains at the unfamilier feeling that hanged off the tip of her horn.
>Trying to keep her head up to even look at Celestia was a burden that sent tremors through her frame.
>Meanwhile the now pink maned mare sighes.

"Fine, fine I'll help you get started."
>Horn glowing the pressure starts to ease from Applejacks neck.
>>
>>25678872
"Now all you need to do is not true to physically shove it, just guide it."

>"How?"

"You just give it a tug, just pretend instead of a large flaming mass of hydrogen gas in the void of space, that it's a normal coffee mug you're trying to drink."

>Grinding her teeth Applejack glares at Celestia.

"Ohoh, not so easy now is it?"

>"Ah do-"

"Stop being stubborn about doing it, and just do it!"

>Shocked at Celestia's tone the applemare huffs before closing her eyes.
>Feeling the sheer weight of this thing hanging on her neck and horn the mare tries to pull on the tangible feeling before her.
>It's like trying to move a boulder buried in the ground with only a hoof shovel.
>This is hopeless...
>Before she can despair however Applejack remembers something from her time on the farm.
>"Big Mac how are we gonna raise the barn? Ah can't push the frame up like that."
[Easy enough lil sister, see that wheel up there?]
>"Wazzat?"
[It's a pully, its gonna let us pull this here frame up, it's just a matter of leverage, now come on.]
>"Okay!"

>Leverage...
>Stretching the rope of her mind the applemare can feel the sun stay in place.
"Any day now Applejack."
>"Ah'm workin' on it..."
>She had her rope, but what to use as a pully...
>Wait, on the edge of her perception...a cool green and blue feeling.
>Of course!
>Grinning now Applejack raises her head high and with a mighty tug the world went white.

>"Wh-what happened?"
"Well I see you finally figured it out."
>"What?"
"Look at yourself."
>Looking down Applejack feels her head sway.
>"Whoa nelly...why am I so high up?"
>Silken strands of yellow danced past her eyes and Applejack holds her hoof up to it finding the etheral mane slip through her hooves.
>"How?"
"You figured out how to move the sun didn't you?"
>"Sure as sugar, I just needed a pully."
MOre? I was going to dump lore on alicorns

Like the flashaback with Mac, that was just perfect an idea.

Rest of it, not really sure. Celestia's sudden "No, totally, I have a bureaucracy I just need you to make it smoother" doesn't really seem to gel with anything seen up to this point, and AJ getting a Celly-style floating mane is right out a bad idea that doesn't fit with the show. Twilight moved the sun all by herself AND she had Celestia's power, and didn't get one. That doesn't make sense at all.

Other than that, nice go. Mac bits were standout.

>Was the whole of Pommel resolving to hold the line declared non-canon or just the bit where Chitty relented?

I guess the whole thing because otherwise the story is only half done and makes no sense?

Either way it's non-canon, but not because Chitty didn't do something, but because the author had her go "I need to go find my daughter" when...

>I must go find my daughter, watch them for an hour or else-

"Mom I'm right here. I've been right here the whole time. Mom turn around. Mom. Mom. Mommy. Momma. Mama. Momsie. Momesh. Momzerella. Momtania. Mom. MOM. MOM! MOM! MOOOOOMMMM!"

And then there's a whole bunch'a buildings on the outer rim. What, were they storage units for cake?... Nevermind, that's possible. Fer' that matter, where did they live if they didn't live here? Did the ponies live inside the castle walls? You'd think they at least were in this here ring, wouldn't ya'? But they still had tents or whatever in mah Granny's time, and that was up where Canterlot eventually went. Why the heck did they leave? They had this massive, already done structure! Admittedly, it probably would be smarter to see where this is going with AJ and what new developments are no doubt going to wreck what little status quo we have left at this point before going full "Learning!", but if you don't wanna wait you don't have to, that's the whole point of OOCO.

The family room, normally a place of whimsy and fun, was surprisingly cool. Shining Armor had gone off to get the movie, stating that they needed to all relax and calm down a bit, and nobody had the heart to disagree. While he was off, the others were doing their own thing. Cadence and Two the food, Forty Two the pillows and Mane-Iac and Spitfire were just waiting about. That, unfortunately, left only two on the couch. Two sitting there on that comfy crystal couch, the most unlikely pair of the bunch, waiting.

>...So, do you have a plan?

"Don't know what you mean."

It was strange, that something like that from her of all changelings could do anything at all.

But, true to her word, she relaxed immeasurably following this, seeming to be worry free when they rest returned, and the movie came in. Eighteen, as strange as it sounded, seemed at ease, just knowing.

"...I'm prepared."

A broken tile fell from the cracked roofing the princess had left in her wake, crumbling to the ground and shattering on impact.

This, it seemed, was what everyone needed to snap out of their trance.

>Well, that was something.

To remember that there was, indeed, a much, much more powerful being right in front of them, and no longer anyone even remotely close to her level remaining.

So when those eyes of fire turned back to the lings and guards huddled together, very little was felt besides a constricting, pressing fear.

>Are you ready to leave, or am I going to make you?

"MOTHER!"

Again, her daughter moved herself in front of the Titan, to put herself closer to the mass of chitin hidden behind a notably smaller wall of gold covered bodies. She glared, a stunning sight that left most reeling in shock that they would ever see such as that in their lifetime.

Yet even that shock proved to be nothing in compared to what shot through them when the Titan shifted backwards, just a bit.

>I was just going to grab them, I wouldn't have broken them.

"You never mean to break them!"

Nobody around them knew what to think anymore, their minds had gone blank. Completely broken when they saw the massive beast wince and turn her eyes away from the much smaller thing.

>Fine, then you make them. This was your idea.

"Thank you!"

Back again she turned, once more her attention fully on the guard and the lings behind them.

Or, more specifically, the two unicorns standing in her way, while all the others shuffled ever so subtly to the side. One of whom, the captain of the guard. The other, the 'student' of the princess herself, even if from that rant it seemed it was not a favored student. The changeling marched forwards, without any fear present despite the capabilities of both, and the fact she remained surrounded on all side by an endless mob.

"I'm going to take them back to the Empire now."

1/7
>>
>>25682566

With just as little fear on his face, the white stallion took only a single step forwards, remaining locked with his eyes to hers.

'No, you're not.'

"I'm not asking, I'm giving you a chance to move by yourself."

'And if I don't?'

"I'll make you move."

Pointedly, she looked up to her horn.

'Threatening an officer is a jailable offense.'

"So is forming an angry mob. Going to have enough space?"

He twitched, yet he did not move back.

(We can handle this.)

Instead, another moved forwards. The yellow, barely alive being, who nonetheless had a fire about her. A power to her, from skill or from magic.

"No, you clearly can't."

Neither of which swayed the sickly looking ling.

'I think we've handled it pretty well up to this point.'

"By that you mean you stood around and did nothing while the mob got bigger. What, exactly were you planning to do if they just started throwing stuff?"

(Shield spell, pretty basic actually.)

"Uh huh. And that would stop them?"

(Hold them off.)

"Until what?"

Finally, something that made them break off their endless double stare, and share a look with each other.

'Until the princess decided what to do.'

"Well, she left, and said we decide. This is my choice, we leave."

~YEAH!~

~Good! That's very good!~

~Please take the giant thing away!~

The Titan snapped her teeth in that one's direction, smirking again when they broke off into a run.

'Your mother isn't helping.'

"Really? Looks like she's the one holding the crowd back."

(You do realize a giant airship just flew over Canterlot, right? You might be bringing them into danger.)

"Through danger, you mean. And I don't know if you were filled in, but airships? Not a problem for my mom. Even war airships, which that one certainly wasn't. Push comes to shove, we'll take the long way, she can carry all of us. But here? Here is already danger, and I know about it."

(Thirteen, stop it. We need to stay put until the princess comes back-)

"She's not coming back!"

2/7
>>
>>25682593

The screech was as sudden as it was piercing. Loud and straight through their skulls, like a bullet.

"She isn't going to just turn around, come down here with all the answers and fix everything, okay!? She ran off because she couldn't handle this! She couldn't protect them like she said she would! Well, I can! And if I can't, she can! I'm handling this right now, I'm taking them home, and you can't stop me! Move!"

'No.'

"I... said...'

He went still, sudden as it was horrifying, as her horn glowed.

The gasps of terror that sunk through the crowd rocked them down to their core as, ever so slightly, he looked to move.

But he didn't.

'Well?'

He remained, looking cautious, but otherwise unmoved.

"Wha-"

>Daughter, if you want intimidation, ask me. Not to say you're not strengthening, I'm just much more effective.

The crowds attention returned to the monstrous being, stunned they had ever left, and what they found nearly made them scream and flee.

Chitania, her eyes alight with magic and her horn burning like fire as her changeling power positively poured from it. She looked to them all with strained, red eyes that made her look unto a thing of pure evil, a thing of nightmares and nothing less.

"MOM STOP!"

A thing that left, in an instant, when her daughter asked it to be.

>Oh, fine...

She only looked a little disappointed.

(Your mother is causing problems. Why don't you take her and leave?)

She shot forwards, brushing past the mare who's magic was charged and ready and closing the distance until she could poke the stallion right in the chest.

"I'll be happy to with my Hive, buddy! Right guys!?"

The lings jumped, reacting to being acknowledged for the first time, and even stranger to be asked their opinion on something.

{Uh...}

[Hey! Yeah! Why don't we just ask the lings if they want to go?]

[That... actually seems like a good idea, let them pick!]

~I'm fine with that so long as they pick 'leave'!~

3/7
>>
>>25682607

Panic went through both stallion and mare as they looked back, already knowing the response.

{Well... I mean, she did leave us.}

{Yeah, but I don't want to make it seem like we're joining up with Chitania! We're not! She's not our Queen!}

{Not our Queen!}

{Buuuuut it's Thirteen who is asking us to go with her, and she's a sister.}

{She is one of us, so at least that makes sense. But what if she's being mind controlled?}

{...isn't... isn't Chitania really crappy at that?}

{Point... I dunno, wanna just bail?}

{Well I sure as love don't want to stick in the middle of the fucking mob anymore!}

{You guys are scary!}

~US!?~

{...She's not coming back, is she?}

They didn't know which one of them had said it, but it didn't make it any easier when not a one of them could tell them otherwise.

{...Bail.}

{Yeah, let's just go back, they don't want us here.}

{This whole idea was stupid.}

'Guys...'

He couldn't keep the look off his face, the defeated slump as he watched his guards part without orders to let them through. He watched them, every one, as they started to move.

'...They are still under my supervision, I can-'

He hadn't even seen her move, hadn't had any time to react or blink, before a chitnous hooftip as sharp as it was thick pressed itself to his chest, and the muscles beneath it tensed. He looked up, to a fanged maw snarling in anger, and the words died.

>You can stay quiet, or I'll send you back to Canterlot, express ways.

He wanted to argue, wanted to fight her even. All of his past experiences told him to fight, and battle.

The only thing that stopped him was the fact he knew it would make all of this worse. It would be the last straw, and the real battle would begin.

One he, and all of Ponyville, would probably lose.

"Come on, guys. Let's go."

4/7
>>
>>25682619

They walked, slowly and as defeated as Pommel looked now, towards the Queen that would protect them. The Queen that looked ready to destroy any who got even close, not that any of the mob though of such. They would be taken off, they would be protected, they would likely never return. It was over.

They all knew it was over.

(You can't leave yet.)

Or, at least, almost all of them.

"Yes, I can. And if you have a problem with it, I'll tell my mother that holding someone against their will is grounds for self defense."

>I heard that.

(No no, you misunderstand, you can't go yet.)

She stepped forwards, a thoughtful, yet utterly determined look on her face.

"And why not?"

It struck the student, with all the force that even Chitania could not be capable of.

Inspiration.

(Because you're missing someone.)

"Forty One is over there, I made sure she stayed put."

Pointedly, she ignored one of the guards letting out a breath of relief.

(Great! But that wasn't who I was talking about.)

She couldn't keep the smile off her face when Thirteen's look went back, scanning over all the lings in the group.

"They're all here."

(All from you're group, sure. But I thought you said you were protecting your hive? That any changeling was in trouble?)

"...And?"

(Annnnnd... where's Twenty Nine?)

The smaller changeling went rigid, scanning and rescanning over and over to find that, indeed, the posh changeling not only wasn't there, but wasn't anywhere nearby either.

(Well?)

"...I..."

(Well, you're certainly not going to leave him behind, are you? He'd be in as much trouble as them, wouldn't he? And sure, he's annoying... but he's still from your hive, isn't he?)

Her teeth grit, and she began sucking in air through through them, once more looking over the crowd for any sign of him hidden beyond.

{..We can just leave him.}

{Yeah, dude's an asshole.}

{Also, he lives here.}

{Let's just leave!}

5/7
>>
>>25682630

But she wouldn't give the okay. She just kept looking, just kept searching, for the last missing piece. She wouldn't leave anyone behind.

And, now, Sunset knew that.

"We can't..."

It had been a gamble, sure. A risk that she would have dedication to all of them, even those that lived elsewhere, but Sunset was nothing if not a gambler.

She just managed not to roll snake eyes this time.

"Mom, do you think you can find him?"

It was a mere second before Pommel caught on.

When it happened, he had to fight not to smile.

'Oh yes, brilliant. Send off Chitania, the hair trigger rage machine, to go find Twenty Nine. Twenty Nine. The most annoying changeling on the planet. Him. I'm sure she'll be as gentle as a lamb!'

She winced, any retort quite wisely never voiced.

"Then I'll do it."

(Even better! Leave Chitania alone with the mob. I mean, it's not like your reputation can get any worse, and I'm sure you don't care if ponies get crippled, best case scenario.)

From the disgusted look on her face, it actually seemed that she did quite care about that, and the thought did not agree with her stomach.

Both captain and student made a note on that one.

'I guess you could send a ling, but then you're back to step one if they get lost, and they're unprotected.'

(Or... we could go get him.)

She hissed, clearly disagreeing with that idea even more than earlier.

(It would just take a second.)

"...Do you think I'm stupid? I know you'll just stall for time. You won't ever come back."

They shared a look, not even bothering to hide it, knowing full well that she wasn't fooled for a second.

'Offensive.'

(Very racist.)

Despite their comments, the ling knew she had been backed into a corner.

She couldn't leave without him, couldn't go get him herself, and couldn't risk leaving him to the mob. She was stuck, and she knew it, and they knew it. She could stop the mob, she knew, and not kill a one of them. But her mother...

"...An hour."

6/7
>>
>>25682649

(Hm?)

"If you don't find him in an hour, then I'm... I'm sending my mom."

'You know that she'll-'

"The Queen would forgive me. I'm giving you a chance, use it."

Giving her a chance, were the unspoken words.

Only one hour.

>...Well? GET GOING!

Her roar was what finally spurred Sunset to start running, to go off with a smirk on her face while she made a show of her fastest race. She shared only a single look with Pommel, a single glance to say 'you're still on the clock' before she was gone. Disappearing into the town, to find the 'lost ling'.

Leaving them, the mob, the Titan, the guards and the lings behind, where they knew they would remain for an hour.

Where not a one of them expected to have that time limit broken by a return.

They all sat there, remained there, in the most awkward and uncomfortable silence to have ever graced the face of Eqeustria.

'...Sooooo... anybody got a game? One that takes a bit of time?'

[We could play Monopony.]

>GRRRRRRRAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!

Everyone screeched in terror, be they ling or pony or otherwise, when flames enveloped the Queen, and the full sized Titan let out an ear splitting roar.

She shrank back down a second later, glaring at every single one of them in turn.

"...Mom doesn't like monopony."

'Put that together myself, thanks.'

Thus, the longest hour in the world began.

The empty halls gave off subtle echos with her every step. A barren area where there had once been life, and very shortly ago quite a lot of ranting. It seemed even in times like this, she was ever the mare who noticed the inconsistencies with everything.

She tried her best to subdue it for now.

>Yep. Definitely gonna be some kinda answer in here.

She was lying, and only to herself. She needed no magical trinket or special power to know that. She was merely running, merely hiding away from the rest of the world in here and convincing herself it was all to 'find a miracle'.

But she found only empty halls, barren walls, and crumbling stone no matter how far she would go. She knew this, she expected nothing less, for if there had been other things within these halls then Twilight would no doubt have scoured them clean long before now. The smart thing, she knew deep down, would be to go to the tree.

She could think of nothing she would rather do less.

She knew it had no real options anyway. What was she going to do, retrieve her Element from it? Let the world be overrun by giant thorny vines, again? There was nothing it could give her, nothing to take. It was as empty an option as these walls were, yet still it would have been smarter.

Far smarter than when she found herself in that empty throne room, where a battle had once taken place.

For a moment, looking at it, she felt empty. To have a symbol of the royalty she was supposed to be staring back at her so blatantly gave her nothing but a cold, empty feeling. She could not, no matter how much she wanted to, look away from that spot.

She found herself moving towards it, drawn like a moth to the light, stepping on her own accord until the musty old smell distinct from the others reached her nostrils.

She didn't know why she did it, but she sat down.

>>
>>25693125
Well she kinda led off on that...

Also is she like ever impressed with anything?
>>
>>25693285
Who, Chitty?

In the sense of accomplishments or just in general? Accomplishment wise, we haven't seen anything yet. She tends to take it as a challenge or them bragging when she could obviously do better. But just in general, hell yeah. She used to be adorable when she was all like "HOLY SHIT FUTURE IS AWESOME!" and I still remember her being honestly impressed with what Pennydrop was capable of creating with the infusions. She didn't care for the 'golem', but when she saw the vials she was like "Dude... whoa."

She wasn't that hard to impress with technology due to her being so far behind, but I don't know if she's still got that fresh wonder. She seems like the type to be impressed with any new thing, though.
>>
>>25693285
>Also is she like ever impressed with anything?

Technology, she has a massive ladyboner for it. It's one of the few things that she stops and loves to learn about.

Not even 'kill all gods weapon boom' style, she fucking lost her shit over a popcorn machine.
>>
>>25693334
>She tends to take it as a challenge or them bragging when she could obviously do better

Makes sense, when someone goes
>KILL ALL THE BIGGEST THINGS
they tend not to be the one who goes
>Whoa, look at the balls on that guy!
Simply because if they're always looking for bigger things to fight, they're probably not interested in gushing about others accomplishments instead of just surpassing them.
>>
>>25693718
I realize that, but it seriously makes reading her dialogue a chore sometimes. It's just 'Oh but I'm better' over and over again.
>>
>>25693802

>>25693849
Wow, I could not disagree more.

The thing I love reading about Chitty since day 1 has always been that she gives no fucks, but she's not depressive or sad or dramatic. She has interests, she has hobbies that she loves and she smiles and laughs and all that, but she loves posturing and doesn't give a fuck if you posture back. In fact, she takes it as a challenge.

Who else would trashtalk a dragon that was kicking her ass sideways?
>>
>>25693998
So...she's really strong, a bitch to everyone she does not recognize as being hers, proud to a fault and uses violence to get what she wants.

She is a schoolyard bully.

Hooray?
>>
>>25694054
No, you don't GET it, her tragic backstory absolves her of being a total jerk to everyone who's guilty of being weaker than her.
>>
>>25694054
Bullies pick on the small fish and are content with that, because they're the ones who are going to give them the least amount of fight.

She wants the whales.

The chainsaw wielding whales.
>>
>>25694087
Different anon here and I kind of get what you're saying, and yeah, it might make sense in THAT way, but a tragic life doesn't really give anyone the right to act like a 'schoolyard bully'.

Life is life for a reason. If hers was shitty and that's why she acts like that, cool. She's still a bitch most times, she just has reason to be a bitch. Still wrong.
>>
>>25694143
Yeah guess what, I hope the whale eats her.
>>
>>25694054
>proud to a fault

That's the only one I'll contend, as she does accept when she just plain can't win in a fistfight. She was extremely cautious when Discord popped up and was so tense she didn't even try bantering with him despite actually having the advantage.

She's not proud, she's driven. She doesn't hear someone say "I beat up ___" and think thats a shot to her pride that she hasn't, its a challenge to get bigger and stronger and do better, and she voices that.

And this isn't getting into

>Her love of advancement of technology, sciences and the like
>Her wonder of what the future is going to hold
>That she likes classical music
>That she did want to be a mom to a huge hive
>That she has a protective instinct towards her species(that got soured later, but still is there)
>That she tends actually not to pick on someone way weaker than her even when she has the advantage, like with Pommel, simply because she doesn't care about them.

And lots of other stuff.

>>25694087
Exact opposite.

She has never once even implied anyone should feel sorry for her, or that she's still clinging to it or letting it drown her out. It changed her, but only in the sense that it was a bad thing that changed her time, place and who she has left to protect, not that it made her a worse or better person. She's the same as she was before Variolus, and has said multiple times "It happened, it sucks, but it's done." and moved on.

Chitty don't let no backstory hold her down, she's got Gods to punch.
>>
>>25693802
>>25693849
I also agree to this. She's a chore and a bore.

>>25693998
>She has interests, she has hobbies that she loves and she smiles
and honestly I still don't care about her. Unless she's doing something funny, I'm just not invested in her.

>>25694054
Kinda this. I regard her more as a schoolyard bully.

>>25694087
and then things like this starts giving me off weird Mary Sue OC vibes when she's a jerk and immune to repercussions. I assume you're probably joking, but it's tough to tell sometimes.
>>
All this discussion about developing our canon show characters sure is productive, huh?
>>
>>25694143
...She wants the whales eh?

Too bad she doesn't restrict herself to the whales.

She goes after anyone all the time.
>>
>>25694163
>but a tragic life doesn't really give anyone the right to act like a 'schoolyard bully'.

Here's the thing, it didn't. She acted like this with the arrogance and being annoyed with anyone weaker than her, except her kid obviously, well before the icing. She's never cared about Ponies especially, and outright hated them up to the town incident. She doesn't even hate them now, she popped out of the ice and was like "FUCK YOU SISTER" and then never got back to hating ponies, she just thinks they're worthless.

Her 'tragic life' had surprisingly little effect on her, she was just always cocky about her powers.
>>
>>25694227
The canon show characters i care about most in this thread have all just A) Shit the bed and caused this mess. B) Ran away from there responsibilities to go through some shit and then actually do something (I hope, maybe she just ran off); and C) been run over by a bunch of nobodies then sealed inside a foam ball fired by an autonomous rocket launcher because apparently the universe rolls a d20 for his skill level every 20 min. and he's getting 1s today.

>Not like it's the first time he's fought the thing.

....Actually? Holy shit, you just made me realize it is!

The version he 'fought' was a gimped build meant not to cause any collateral damage(they were fighting in Canterlot) and DT relied on smaller things like Tasers and smoke bombs and what have you, nothing full power and no rockets that could wreck anything. And even then, this was Pre-PL TBDRLIATU, he didn't even have his jump-jets or different weaponry yet, he was just a boomstick she downgraded so she didn't bring Canterlot to the ground.

HUH.

>Yeah, no, I wouldn’t. Last thing we need’s a brick being hurled at your head. Then I’d have to do some very unscrupulous things.

“Aww….”

>Because if they blinded you, you wouldn’t be very good at giving hoof massages anymore, I suspect.

“Aw respectfully retracted.”

>You ever notice that an awful lot of mess follows you and your kind, perv?

“Noticed, been victim to, accepted, moved on.”

>I wonder… doesn’t that bother you? Like, in the slightest? Equestria’s being thrown into some delicious turmoil right now because of changeling endeavors, regardless of their intention at that.

“Honestly? It bothered me the very first time I took a knife to the chitin when applying for a job. After that? Nope. I just cling to what little happiness I manage to find. It does bite ass being born outright into a negative light but we barely do ourselves any favors as it is.”

>You oughta know by now that I give exactly zero fucks about the questions I ask or who I ask them to, pervert, come on.

“True.”

>So? Yay, nay?

“…I believe that changelings did exist… something else would. That’s usually how it goes, I’ve found. Hell, changeling history is a good example. You got one bad queen. She gets axed. Here comes a worse one. Like Sci… Sc-Scide-… yeah. Anyway, if my race suddenly died off, we’d get replaced by something ten times worse. Something that probably wouldn’t disguise itself, something that probably wouldn’t be willing to talk, to listen, to help… to give massages.”

>Well, you might be right on that one. Whenever one bad disappears, another always takes its place.

“…I’m not bad.”

>As a single entity free from the oppressive rule of your hive, most certainly not. You’re about as bad as free scalpels. But together?

Twelve could practically count her teeth when Screwloose smiled, almost ear to ear.

>You’re almost as frightening as I am. And you know how much I detest competition. …Huh.

If you're talking about DTvsSpike, allow me to break it down. The outcome of the fight was pre-determined because he simply won the coin toss.
Now the first problem I realized was he's a quick draw. He shoots first. It's how he beat Blueblood, so if he takes the initiative and fires fast in the right spot he'd win, but that's not an interesting read, hence why I made him go ladies first to give DT a chance. As soon as he lost the initiative he ran into trouble.

DT first throws a smoke bomb so that Spike can't get that clear shot on him and uses infrared goggles so that she can see.
She's gimped herself though so she has to probe what Spike can take hence the tazer.
The glass jar of yellow liquid was to make sure even if she did lose, it would humiliate him. Plus it made him stink so extra detection.
She ups the damage by using concussion shots, but Spike is still somewhat tanking it.
To get out of her zone of control and to make her come to him, he tried to get out of the smoke, but she can see where he's going so she simply tossed a flashbang to make him stop and throw another smoke bomb to extend the reach.
Eventually Spike thinks fast by tossing garbage and lighting it on fire. It covers his own smell, and the multiple heat signatures make the infrared almost useless.
Spike then uses ventriloquism to throw his voice to a pile of garbage which revealed DT's location when she shot at it.
He then delivers that one good shot to put her to sleep.

I'd say it depends on if he can take advantage of his initiative and land that one good hit right away. Also it would depend on DT if she can defend against his speed and accuracy long enough to deliver massive firepower.

Let's say if this was an RPG.
Spike would probably come with an ability to attack first and would have a high stat in accuracy.
DT's more of the nukey mage. Squishy, but is able to deliver a devastating attack that would soften targets.

That's my 2 cents from writing fights for both.

>Celestia
"Pennydrop"
~~~
>Anything I can get you?
It was the rare pony who would ignore her, who would keep up the pace of the long legs in a smooth, easy stride alongside her as they entered into Celestia's very own private study. It was the rare pony who would waltz in like she lived there, eyes trailing all around to the various collections and things on the shelves with an appetizing gaze. It was the rare pony who would take a seat on the chair before a word could be said, and look her, the grandest princess of them all, right in the eyes without so much as a hint of discomfort or acknowledgement to that power.
But, it seemed, this was the rare pony indeed.
>Come now, no need to be shy.
"That's okay, you don't have the kind I like."
>I assure you my stocks are of things you would not believe, I very much doubt there is a single type I do not own.
"Sorry, the stuff I had privately cultivated isn't on the market."
>I see... Well, do tell me when it is up for purchase.
"I'll send the note myself. But if you're offering a drink, any chance of Griffon-Wine? None of that Griffonstone stuff, I'm talking the one made from the rosegrapes."
>Oh, I suppose I have a bottle or two.
The two sat oddly still as the beverage was summoned, never looking away from the other as it was poured, and offered. She took it without hesitation, no worries at all to her as she sipped heartily of the drink.
>Quite the thirst when you were so worried I was under some kind of influence yourself. Didn't you worry something was slipped in there?
She smirked like she had seen very little smirk before as she set the glass down, licking her lips to catch any remains.
"Maybe I'm just testing the waters and seeing if you're planning anything. Wouldn't do any good to make demands if you were trying to do something at the start, would it?"
As expected, she was better than she had let on.
>...I suppose not. So, of these demands? I'm sure you know what they want.
1/6
>>
>>25695586
A smile that would give a shark pause graced the mares lips, and the words flowed smoothly.
"Well, I'm certainly not going to pretend I'm the voice of the ponies or anything, I'm just a simple mare who wants whats best for the city she has done so much business in, and who has a great many friends here! Honestly, I don't know why you picked me, but everyone else seemed like they weren't willing to step forwards, and I clearly couldn't let the will of the ponies go unanswered, no?"
Eyes, once beautiful and full of love, narrowed ever so slightly, looked ever so slightly dangerous, as she looked to the mare who practically sang her every word.
>Oh no, and it was very... brave to step forwards.
"Had to be done. But if I was to give some direct requests, and most of these are coming from the others so feel free to pick them apart as you wish, it would be these. An outside investigation into all matters that might have been compromised by the changeling infiltration over in the Empire. An examination of anything military or otherwise that may have been compromised by association with said race. An examination into any funds, and how much, were given to said species and if those funds need to be refunded or otherwise reobtained from the changelings. And finally, a banning of all changelings and direct associates from Canterlot Castle until this investigation is finished to the satisfaction of the ponies."
Everything she had expected, quite a lot more. There was much she needed to bring down, starting with the worst would be a good start.
>You don't feel the banning is a bit much?
"Nope. Best to be cautious when they can disguise themselves as us or control minds."
>Even still, lumping them all in the same cloth is a rather biased request.
"Good."
Silence hung above them like a swinging pendulum following that, ever tick of the clock a swing that brought it lower. Bargaining was off the table. A new approach would be needed, something more direct.
2/6
>>
>>25695613
>And, this investigation... would it be headed by you, by any chance?
She expected the affirmative, she most certainly did not expect a flippant wave of a hoof like she were some street beggar asking for a bit.
"Me? Oh no no no, I wouldn't want to get directly involved myself. Sure, I pay taxes, but my main headquarters is stationed elsewhere. No, it will have to be someone else who looks to the goings on of Canerlot Castle, I'm merely here to give the word. A messenger, nothing more."
Before, she had been curious.
Now she was worried.
>But you have so many investigative organizations, do you not?
"None in Canterlot."
>Wouldn't that make you the perfect unbiased party?
She needed her to take the bait, to bite the hook.
"Only if you call "Ignoring the ponies below" unbiased. They certainly have the right to choose someone from their own ranks who will do the looking. Why, it would be preferable, really. They would bring with them their own national pride to get the job done right!"
But the little fish just swam away.
>And biases that will make them see a bug in every dot on an i.
The makings of a smile moved beneath the smaller mares lips, only barely held back from the surface.
"Think so little of them, do you? That's a little elitist."
>It is not that I think so little of them, but what I think of you.
"...ohhh?"
Her voice was coy, smooth like silk as she held the princess's gaze.
>Shall we cut to the chase, Pennydrop?
The smile.
The smile she had seen before, known of for all of her political life, that had graced a dozen lips before her, was there. It was hidden, but it was there.
"I did already, try to pay attention."
>... do you really think you're the first?
Everything about that, the words, the shift in tone, the way her look changed, absolutely everything was finally enough that the smile need held back no longer and died hidden.
3/6
>>
>>25695626
>Really now, do you think you're the first one to try something like this? Or the tenth? Or even the twentieth? I've dealt with more events like these than I have earth-threatening beings, and that's saying a lot. I've seen them come and go, Empires built up and poised to win the political game over and over.
"And?"
>And you are talking to me, now, in my castle, on my land, in my country.
That really did say it all.
That was enough to turn what once threatened a smile into a scowl.
"You know, just for the record, I never bought the perfect pretty princess routine. I always knew you loved this power you have. Why so many others are taken in by a pretty flowing mane and a 'nice' smile has always left me shaking my head. Like you're something special, when you get down to the bone. Like you don't love every second of it."
A single, sharp eyebrow rose, and a look of pure contempt covered every inch of the earth pony.
>Love it?... You're unfortunately every wrong on that one. Sometimes I wish I had what I've seen in those that came before me, what no doubt hides in you. A need for power, for control, a need to always have more and more and more. It would make my job so much easier, you know. But no, every time I defeated them for a simple reason. I love them. I love every one of my subjects, and I love them dearly, and I will not see them used for a powergrab.
"Unless it's for you, of course."
The smaller mare leaned back, still glaring, not in the least bit afraid by the much taller, opposing figure sitting across from her.
>I, unlike you, do not want them manipulated, do not want a single other who does not belong to be involved in my matters. I only want to protect them. I only want them to be happy.
A short, almost pained laugh was the response and it did nothing but sour the alabaster face even further.
4/6
>>
>>25695647
"You know? So do I, to be honest. Ponies do a lot better when they're happy. Have you seen my pay rates? I'm the best, and I get the best. That whole 'dark master atop a twisted castle' just looks pretty bad, doesn't it? Just looks cheap and tacky, and why would you want to look down at a whole bunch of sad sacks every day? No, I think I'd much rather look down at smiling, happy faces every day, wouldn't you? Though I guess it's pointless asking, that is what you do, isn't it? Seems nice."
Nothing, not a single word she had spoken this whole time, had unsettled her as much as those words.
>...It's not too late, you know. You can stop this..
Another laugh, louder, harder, more booming and powerful, and this one pure.
"Stop this? Are you crazy? Oh, you have no idea. You have no idea, Princess Celestia."
The sour look twisted, looking almost remorseful.
>I'm being honest. You can still turn away, live a successful life, work hard and make Equestria better. You do not want what you think you want, and it will bring you only ruin. I don't know what caused this, why you think these things you do, but they do not have to define you. Turn back, before it twists you into something dark and terrible. I've seen it... I've lived it. Turn back, before it's too late.
Silence, horrible, horrible silence followed that. In it, in the wait, she dared to hope.
In the laughter that followed, she dared no longer.
"Heh... does that speech ever work?"
>...no.
It was a bitter thing that rolled off her tongue, as honest as it was disgusting.
"So melodramatic..."
She slugged down the last of her drink, hopping to her hooves without a single shake in her body, without a single hesitation in her step.
"Demands are set, and I'll be sure to inform everyone you've agreed to all of them. If you say otherwise to them, well, it would sure look weird if you agreed to a safety measure against a changeling and then suddenly backed down or changed your mind, wouldn't it?"
5/6
>>
>>25695659
Eyes that had been regretful ignited, narrowing into thin, dangerous slips as she glared at the other pony.
"Got something you want to say? Go on, shoot me. Shoot me with all of your big Alicorn power. Then you can just say this was all a big attempt at assassination or something, or even just stride out there and put on a lightshow, it would shut up the masses right quick. Nobody has a power than can match you, let alone all your little 'buddies'. You could end this right now, if you wanted."
Never, not once, did she actually consider doing just that.
Though she would be a liar if she did not admit the temptation was there.
"No? Good call. Get ready to meet those demands, or else I don't think that mob is going to be all civilized next time. They are mostly unicorns after all, and so many of them have powers, unsettling powers... no?"
>...You know, there's something off about you.
"No kidding? Maybe you're not as quick as they said."
The barb rolled right off her, not phasing her pensive gaze in the least.
>Oh, it's nothing you would notice, not at all. But with all the others, they kept up the facade right until the end, right until they were sure they had won, and everything was theirs. You've moved too quickly, you've shown yourself now. You did not even attempt to keep it up... why?
That, Celestia knew is when things had changed. That moment, when Pennydrop turned her head around, when she looked her right in the eye, and when she smiled, is when she knew this time around was going to be different.
"Because I'm not like them."
It was the rare pony who would turn her back on the princess with a smirk. It was the rare pony who would dare to slam her ornate, beautiful door. It was the rare pony who would stride out, her head held high, when she knew the princess would be watching her every step from now on.
But, it seemed she was that rare pony indeed.
>...so, it begins again.
This time, though...
She knew things would be different.
Thwump.
Thwump.
Scraaaaaaaape!
The table wasn’t so long, just the right length for two annoyingly towering stacks of paperwork to touch as a princess and a prince pulled up their respective chairs on either end and sank into them.
She peeked around the left.
He peeked around the right.
>Well. Here we are again….
“You know, I could’ve sworn we said the stacks would be lighter last time. Didn’t we say the stacks would be lighter? These stacks don’t look lighter. In fact, I daresay they’ve gotten heavier.”
>My back would agree wit' ya, Shinin’.
“The mess afterwards, though….”
“Right. On three, then. One…
>Two…
>“Three!”
In one concise swipe, those same two teetering towers of documents went crashing to the ground, freeing up just the perfect amount of space for Applejack and Shining to put their legs up and lean back comfortably.
“Maaaan, I swear… these little ‘joint meetings’ that we have? Highlight of my freaking week at times. All the crazy goes away, all the whining and prodding and sexual innuendo… all of it just becomes background noise and I can just….”
Throwing back his head with a long-winded, relaxed sigh was obviously more important than finishing his statement yet Applejack understood him perfectly. Stretching her hooves up high, she could honestly say she felt the same.
>Plus, the added benefit’a jus’ slappin’ all that shit on the ground… it jus’ feels like a win.
“A win for all of ponykind. Screw it, all kind. A win for all kind in Equestria.”
>Yeah, fuck paperwork.
>>
I fully admit it's irrational, if it's any consolation I'm trying to find a way to bury the hatchet between her and 32
>>
>>25695876
Damn it, I can't resist biting it anymore. Everything I'm about to say is opinion based on how I generally hate liars, so don't take them as facts.
Cadence threw the curtain up to hide the truth and hoped to keep a lie indefinitely. Rarity merely left candles there and was on her way to take them back. It was Chrysalis who lit the candle and burned the curtain revealing what was behind it. Rarity's part in it was an accident as much as Chrysalis. The difference is one of them isn't sorry for what happened. I have no sympathy for the CE crew. Part of being a leader is accountability. If something goes wrong, it's suppose to be the leader's job to take responsibility for it, so if 18 fucks something up, people need to be able to blame the right person. If citizens blame the wrong person and 18 gets away with it, the same mistake can happen again, with the person making the decisions impervious because someone else can take the blame. That's why citizens need their leaders to be accounted for their actions. What 18, Cadence, Chrysalis, and SA did to covered the truth. It wasn't for the good of the people, it was for their own selfish reasons and it was about time that they realize it wasn't right for them to hide it in the first place and that they needed to be accounted for their actions. If Rarity had done this intentionally, then she'd be a whistle blower for blowing the lid off a lie which raises Rarity quite a few point in my book. If she means what she says, she'd have no problems eating the punishment that she's done in the past and would make her the better person. In fact, she did what AJ should have done herself. Make them tell the truth and be transparent with their citizens.
>>
>>25696718
Legit loved it.
Das my /pa/.
>>
>>25697323
There's only 1 option I see for AJ, be resolute, stick to her guns, and tell the truth. People want the impossible, an honest politician. Something that AJ should be striving for. If she were to lie to people, she'd be compromising her core values, not only that she'd be another politician just like what the CE crew have been doing. It'd be a great disappointment if she were to choose that route and I'd lose a lot of respect for her. Even more so on top of her hypocrisy with DT. The greatest challenge for her is to be truthful, but still be able to manage the situation. A shitty princess would lie, a good princess would hold on to their values by doing the right thing telling the truth. A great princess tells the truth and is able to keep her citizens from tearing others apart. In the face of adversity, this is going to be a test of her character, and we'll be seeing if AJ can still stay true. Will she take the easy road betraying her element and lie, or will she take the hard road and keep her integrity. In a way, it's kinda our own version of the episode Leap of Faith without Silver Shill and the Flim Flam brothers (it'd be nice if she got a key).
In my eyes, the CE and anyone who hid the truth are lying Lannisters while Rarity who's willing to pay the price for doing the right thing is a Stark. If Rarity gets punished for doing the right thing, that will be the lesson. Don't tell the truth, or bad things will happen to you. It's Cadence, 18 and anybody who knew about the truth, but did nothing with it, who are wrong and now that the truth has come out, they are now paying the price for the deception and didn't bother to go to House of Cards levels to make sure there are contingency plans for when it gets out, so it's their own fault as far as I'm concerned.
Like I said, I generally hate liars and to me I'm seeing the lies come back to bite them back. I am not going to praise the CE crew for keeping up a deception because that's kinda not a good thing.
>>
>>25696718
“Haymaker”
~~~~
For the love of Celestia… This had shot past the realm of ‘haha let’s go again’ and straight down into ‘why the fuck do I even bother anymore?’

That was the concise thought that perforated the mind of every onlooker, every arena-goer gathered for today’s bout.

Before, they used to come for the thrill of the sport.

Now, after getting desensitized by the same brutal spectacle, they came to get their daily fill of laughter.

Because the changeling would win.

And they knew it.

The changeling always won.

42 was the bug-pony’s name--number, rather--and her credentials piled up high enough to nudge Faust herself on the chin.

Her opponent?

The only stallion on the guard dumb enough to not only attempt to battle her, but attempt to battle her multiple times: Haymaker.

For a stallion named after one of the more hard-hitting techniques ever spawned, there had been no sign of it in over sixty matches. No oomph, no power, no technique or hidden skill—nothing.

His routine usually consisted of stepping into the ring, dodging her attacks while offering the lamest of counters. Counters that never landed.

Still, he kept on challenging her and she kept on accepting which meant the crowds kept paying to come see him bounce off the ground, ricochet off the walls, get thrown through the air….

Even now, banners of 42’s stoic face flashed everywhere. The crowd was chanting her name, stomping their hooves, tossing green and black streamers—

>From a glance around, it would seem as though they don’t have much hope in you.

Standing the arena-standard eight ponies distance away, Haymaker only shrugged.

“You’re implying they ever did.”

1/2
>>
>>25697484

>Well, it just seems kind of odd. Ponies not rooting for their own.

“When their own puts up a poor display it’s not hard to understand the switch to a more popular end.”

>Hmm… end. How apropos.

A visible cringe shook Haymaker.

“Don’t tell me you’re about to hit me with one of those faux-witty remarks like ‘this will be your end’ or—”

>I’m not known for being witty. I’m known for cutting through the fat and getting done what needs to get done. And this? It needs to end.

“I… don’t follow.”

>This will be our last bout.

The stadium grew oddly quiet in response to her claim. Which was pretty damned astounding that she’d even been heard over the previous roaring.
>>
>>25697399

And, hey, if you have any ideas on that, I am open as hell. I feel like this pettiness is holding me back as a writer, I suppose it's kind of an inversion of 'kill your favorites'.

Honestly I'm kind of glad I didn't go with my original ending to 32's problem: Hosptilization via a potshot from a jury-rigged bot.
>>
>>25697494
Good thing you didn't finish it. Because >>25696718 is the only way one them would beat her anyway.
>>
>>25697323
>It was Chrysalis who lit the candle and burned the curtain revealing what was behind it.

Nope, Rarity.

They just showed that there might be more than one curtain, it was literally, LITERALLY Rarity who ripped that curtain down. 18 was about to fix it when she revealed everything.

> If Rarity had done this intentionally, then she'd be a whistle blower for blowing the lid off a lie which raises Rarity quite a few point in my book.

There is no possible other way to interpret the scene where she makes 18 drop the disguise and then drops her own, none. This was 100 percent intentional, all of it.

>If citizens blame the wrong person and 18 gets away with it, the same mistake can happen again

The only way this possibly works is if the leaders were using Cadence as a scapegoat for problems, which they clearly were not. If 18 fucked up, EVERYONE in CE's higher ranks, guards included, would know.

>f Rarity gets punished for doing the right thing, that will be the lesson. Don't tell the truth, or bad things will happen to you.

Or, the right choice can be the hard one that has repercussions. If Rarity got off scott free, then she's a hypocrite. She literally says "We shouldn't be treated special or any different", but then gets less punishment because hey, she's Rarity.

No offense but trying to even imply this was as much Chrysalis's fault, when Rarity was the one going around the Empire posing as someone else without their knowledge or consent and then forcibly shove their secrets into the limelight via magic, is kinda telling.

This was, 100 percent, Rarity. Now, if she's in the right or wrong, this has nothing to do with. This is just saying this was intentional, this was by Rarity's reveal and nothing else, and so on. Think the CE were wrong and that they deserve this shit? Hell, I agree. I hated this and wanted to crash it down a while ago but never did. But it was Rarity.
>>
>>25697607

>>25697607

>>
>>25697703

Guards suck. They will always suck.

Should have just had them replaced by robots or changelings, it would have been far better.
>>
>>25697750
>point still stands
Not really but okay, you're free to think that.
>>
>>25697529
Oh, that's easy. You can probably fix 32 hating her with a single exchange.

>Still sore about that time I tried to kill her? Are you really so dedicated to your Queen? Do you have no free will of your own, none?

"I'm not angry you went at my Queen, I hate you because you tried to hurt my friend."

32 realizing that she sees Chrysalis as more than just 'Her Queen' would solve a fuckton of his issues with her. Wanna spice it up?

>Your friend, really? Do you believe that? You can't believe that.

"Maybe I didn't, the first time we watched a movie together. Maybe I didn't when she asked me to come play OnO with her. Maybe I didn't when she trusted me when the machines were invading, maybe I didn't when she knocked me out and locked me away. But you know, sometime after we had fun at a dance where I was locked in a marshmallow, sometime after she made sure I was okay after a monster attacked, sometime after we went to a floating city of fun and she and I spent so much time together just being ourselves, I finally stopped fighting it. She's my friend, she cares about me, and I care about her. So when some little shit with a grudge and a hair up his ass comes at her for a mistake that to this day haunts her, what do you think I'm going to do?... Better question, what would you do?"

...I might've gotten carried away there.
>>
>>25697783
Ok, but how do I fix her hating him?

It just bugs me that it always has to be 32 in the wrong on every goddamn thing.
>>
>>25697903
Also easy!

>You know, I don't know what I would do, honestly. I've never been in such a situation. But, if I can ask it of you, since we're talking hypothetical, if a mistake of hers got Cadence killed, what would you do?

"That's not relevant. She would never-"

>Key word, mistake. She didn't mean for it to happen, didn't want it to happen, would've stopped it had the option been available, but it happened. Cadence dies, and you watch it happen. Would you forgive her?

"...Yes. If she didn't mean it."

>I don't think you're lying, I want you to know. I believe you. But, how long would it take? How long until you could look at her, and not see the dead loved one she took from you by accident?

"...I don't know."

>Well, when I get there, I'll give you a rough estimate. But tell me this at least... would you punch her?

"...I'd want to. I don't know if I'd do it, because I knew she would be hurting, but I'd want to."

>Well, what do you know, I guess I was wrong about you. Maybe next time I'll know she feels bad about it, beneath that HAH!

"There won't be a next time. She's learned from her mistake."

>... I believe you.

"Have you?"

>...You know? I think I have.

"...My helmet is not stupid."

>Now that we're always going to disagree on.

"We can never be friends."
>>
>>25698022
...well now I'm getting the feeling it'd just be plagiarism, because I doubt I'd do it as good as that.
>>
>>25698022
>Also easy!

...Apparently! Fuck, 42 hasn't gotten that good characterization since her reveal mini.

Shit, what were you waiting for with this one?
>>
>>25697653
Citizens need to know who needs to be held responsible. It's not about the higher ups. It's citizens who deserve to know who's accountable for making decisions whether good or bad.

I'm not letting her off because she's Rarity, I'm letting her off because she did what others didn't, be truthful. She blew the lid like others were suppose to. What? Is the CE going to publicly punish her for telling the truth? Hey citizens, if you expose our lies you get punished. We lied to you but don't worry we're going to give the one who spilled the beans a hard time. That'd be pretty shitty.

Throw Rarity out of the Equation. Let's say a reporter was the one who uncovered that. Telling it like it is not how it should be.
>We're going to punish you for telling the truth.
The response should be.
"I did the right thing by telling the truth. Why couldn't you?"

So I'm not seeing a reason to punish her and I'm not going to blame her for something when it was the folks in power who are the ones at fault.

Now if Rarity came out and said, I'm sorry Equestria I did blah blah blah and other crappy things while in power, I'd just have mad respect for her for coming out on her own and not because people pressured her.

He spoke in hushed whispers as he clung to the side of the building, as shadowy as his species was revered to be, and quite a lot more. Behind him, the stalwart companions who, quite frankly, were the only reason he wasn't in a garbage can somewhere, either living there or being dumped there after a prissy antic too far.

They shuffled, as dark as the night, as they made their way through the barren town.

Though he was remiss, most days. In this moment, Twenty Nine was, indeed, a changeling who would make his fellows proud.

~~~
She didn't know what she was waiting for on that throne.
An answer to be delivered to her from on high seemed like the correct assumption, but she was never one for handouts.
A divine inspiration that would solve all her problems seemed like another likely suspect, but she was more a fan of slow thinking and methodical examination.
Just to be away from them all was, unfortunately, the most likely answer.
>...Ah'm sorry.
There was no one to hear her apology, no one at all.
Except the ones she had in her own mind, who would never leave her thoughts, nor her heart, just as they had said.
>Ah' know ya' taught me ta' be honest. It was the one thing you needed me to know, to understand. That there wasn't anything to be found in lies. Lies were fer' folks who couldn't stand up to the truth, that's what you said. Ponies who lean on lies are always gonna fall when someone hits them with the truth, that's what you said. A barn built on lies is a barn that's gonna fall in the rain. Lies are easy, lies come quick, lies can make a short fella tall or a slow fella quick, but it doesn't change what the world really is. Just how you get folks to look at it. Lies come when the truth is something you're just not strong enough to face. Ya' taught me ta' be stronger than that.
Her hooves mashed together in front of her, her vision fogging the longer she looked down on them.
>...Would you be proud of me?
Those same eyes became so blurry, she could not see the drops as they landed on her hooves.
1/2
>>
>>25704335
>Ah'm a princess now, ain't that something? Ah' really did try Mah' best, that was what was important, wasn't it? Gave it mah' all, you taught me that too. Didn't Ah' give up so much time, work so hard, scrape myself to the bone just to make things better? So much work, just... so much. So much it never looked like it was gonna end, so much Ah' couldn't handle it alone. It took a lot outta me, lost a whole lotta time with my family, but Ah' kept on going. Ain't that something to be proud of? It wasn't like Ah' was doing it to be one of them, those kinda ponies who need it just ta' get more for themselves. It was just easier to...
Her teeth snapped down, so harshly she nearly chipped a tooth. One little word, and the weight on her back pushed down harder than it ever had before. One little word.
Easier.
>...Ah'm sorry. Guess... not everythin' you taught me stuck.
She apologized to nothing but an empty room, nothing but a hollow castle.
Yet in the emptiness, she could feel eyes bearing down on her, every second. Eyes watching her, no longer with the pride she had always seen.
Maybe they had never held it at all, and she had just been lying to herself about that too. Maybe they had always known what she was doing was wrong, what she had been allowing to happen was wrong, that when push came to shove... she took the easier route. Eighteen made things happen, made them work, and that was all she cared about. She had let the weight of her responsibilities crash down on her, and took any liferaft she could grasp, letting the boat sink until it became unsalvageable.
When they learned the truth, nobody would ever trust her again. Not her hometown, not Canterlot, not even her sister. Everything she had ever tried to impart on her.. would be a lie.
Because even strong ponies take the easy way out sometimes.
>...Ah'm sorry... guess there wouldn't be much to be proud of here.
2/3
>>
>>25704373
Just like she knew it would be, the truth was hard. The truth took work.
Honesty wasn't always pretty, and sometimes it hurt.
>Ah'm sorry I let you down.
To an empty room, she spoke.
Nothing but silence answered her back... and she didn't know if she deserved anything else.
>...Ah've gotta see it.
Her limbs moved like a puppets, lifeless and robotic as they lifted her off that throne so uncomfortable on her back. They moved of their own accord, pulled by strings she could not see as they dragged her wobbling body forwards, back into the castle depths, towards... something.
The one last hope she had. The hope that the answer was right there, waiting for her to take it. It was her one last hope to fix this mess.
>It's gotta work.
The one last lie that she would let herself believe.
And we had that story with 10 already. How did Applepone react? Oh yeah, she tried to cover it up and imprison 10. So then Chrysalis had to be thrown in to do her "show of power but not really not do anything" thing to mitigate the damage.
>That's good except in the real world Rarara gets the axe.
Oh yeah, that sounds like the right thing to do.
>Hello citizens. We're going to treat her like any other citizen. If you reveal that we have been lying to you we will give you the axe. Let that be a warning and lesson to you for anyone who wants to try to reveal the truth that we are trying to cover up. Even princesses aren't above this. We lied to you, but don't worry we are taking steps to make sure it doesn't happen again, by punishing the one who revealed it. There is no need to panic. Trust your monarch. We have your best interest. Thank you for your cooperation citizens.
Yup, I should defend that. I'm going to defend the liars even though they're wrong, it's their fault, and it's blowing up in their face. I should go after the one who revealed the truth because...you know it's their fault not the ones who hid it in the first place. The CE and everyone who supported the lie are the good guys. AJ was correct in trying to hide her own truth, so let's go after the people who spill it.
That's rather screwy white knight logic.
Hell, I've written some stories for Cadence and AJ and I still don't support what they did.
>>
can we please just hurry up and get this mess over with?
Kinda tired of PDs mwahahaiing and Ajs moping and general bickering over pretty much every character and every thing.
Let's just get on with it.
Seriously, the timeline is already mind bending what with the ling excursion, and the kingsmoot, and lavan going to the gryphon lands and then coming back, and PD leaving equestira, and then coming back to equestria, and for the love of all that is good WHY WON"T THE SUN GO DOWN!?
>>
>>25706051
I'm saying what would happen in the real world. They would play it off as 18 is a stunt double to prevent assassinations and Rarity (a foreign royal) was trying to take their gov down so Equestria could take over. Now because of her relation to other royals it would be spun as a rouge doing it and not an official act.
I was thinking of how things work here and not in horseland. Whistle-blowing even when you are 100% in the right, gets you punished in some way.(Corporate=blackball, Gov=treason, Mafia=death, family=resentment).
>>25706179
This isn't on the same day anon. Its been at least 3 since Lavan got to Canterlot the first time.
And AJ was absolutely not correct, but she acted realistically to the situation. We had Chrysalis come in and handle it so that we can say "see she was trying to protect 10", when she just didn't want to let the public know Chitty wasn't pure evil.
>>
>>25706193
...why is that second bit directed at me? I didn't say shit about 10!
Also, i don't recall any transitions mentioning time passing. Or mentions of the lings getting a hotel, or staying on the farm. They went there, but nothing about hunkering down for the evening.
>>
>>25706193
Yeah, because the real world is definitely what we should model a story with anime fights, nigh on godlike bug critters, eldritch monstrosities, and demon-controlling schoolteachers after.
>>
>>25706179
Man I always feel uneasy when people say stuff like that, cause I'm really afraid the author(s) are going to be like "Well I had other stuff I wanted to do, but fuck it, lets just resolve the plot." Or worse, someone is going to hop in and give a 2 page anticlimax just to move on from it.
No we shouldn't. I never said lets do this. I pointed out why people are angry with Rarity. Because that is how we work. We shoot the messenger. But in story Rarity is free and clear, just has ponies mad at her for now and is still being a hypocrite because while she was in the right in her reason, they're are laws against impersonating a royal and not just the changeling specific ones.
And yet everyone is saying hurry up when it is AJ. I wonder if it is because Appulwaifu isn't supposed to be sad or in the wrong.
And yes I'm sure, just like Chrysalis will always come out talking shit and being a bitch, AJ will solve her personal problems by just saying that she'll work harder and go back behind her desk until the next burnout.
>>
>>25706193
And is that what our characters should do?
>Yeah we're mad you spilled, so we're going to punish you out of spite, Rarity. If you tell people we punished you, we'll reveal what you've been doing too, so don't blab about it. What you don't care and are going to tell people we punished you for telling the truth? Well, we're going to bust you for treason and discredit you.
No shit, all of that, that whole line, was NC. Do you really think we're going to give away a characters ending like that? Shit, we're not even getting into Chitty apparently just forgetting the squintillion things she's seemingly been making this whole time.
>>
>>25706880
I very sincerely doubt anyone actually thought either part was actually going to be canon, but can't blame them for pointing it out since they used OOCO.
Though I do caution that, as if we slip too far into more stuff like that OOCO will just become the new NC.
>>
>>25706880
Because it's labeled OOCO.
I'd rather not confuse the next person in charge of the pastebin to not label it as NC. I can imagine it now. Someone reads the pastebin going...what the fuck? This is canon?
Speaking of which, is the person holding the pastebin still here? Did you need to leave and not come back or did you mean leave as in go back to lurking? Because if it's the former I feel bad that we're holding you hostage or something.
Celly only destroys the world if they're not married. If they use polygons, then she's DTF.
Twilight can invent a raygun that makes everyone okay with incest.
...Not sure where Pinkie fits in. Unless you mean that one joke with him marrying Pinkie by accident, in which case her dad's okay with polygamy, actually.
Everyone else is fair game.
So, it looks like Chrysalis is out in the cold... unless she uses it to go godmode, and what actually happened was she ascended everyone to a higher plain of existence. Crapshoot really.
>>25707759
I was merely trying to stretch the harem as far as it could go without breaking. Pinkie and twilight are both pretty much the razor's edge on that.
"Gwendolyn"
[Idris]
~~~

>I am not going to enjoy this.

Very little else could sum up his feelings as the airship landed. He watched from his meeting room up high in his castle, awkwardly adjusting his noble regalia as he followed his pristine and efficient guard as they took their place and quickly led the two dignitaries from the Gryphon Kingdom into his castle.

To his dismay, he could see from his vantage point it was indeed the King and Queen of said land.

>I am not going to enjoy this at all.

He tried to put on a warm, inviting, understanding face, already rummaging through all the pleasantries and greetings his wife had perfected in the past. He wasn't quite to her level, he admitted that, but surely he, as the prince of the Empire, could handle a simple meeting. Surely.

SLAM!

All thoughts of hope or any semblance of belief in a being of higher love in the world died at that point. When the Queen stomped into his meeting room and looked to him with a face that could only be described as Chitania being told to sit down and shut up on a bad day, he knew any pleasantries could rest in solemn peace, for they were never to be.

"A changeling."

No greetings no acknowledgements, no nothing. Simply straight to the point like a crossbow to the heart. She was not holding back a bit. The only relief to this situation came in the form of none other than the normally battle hungry king, who held his own emotions back quite well.

"You let a changeling..."

[Dearest? No need to be so forwards, I'm sure-]

"Idris."

Her voice was as cold to him as it had been mere seconds ago, and he felt that little relief and hope that he would force a little restraint slip through his hooves like a greased up Two hopped up on sugar.

"Are you going to go into your whole 'trade partner' thing?"

He stepped back, oddly offset by her tone.

[Well, that is what we're supposed to do.]

"Then please go outside until I am done, and you can talk about it then."

1/8
>>
>>25708091

[Did... did you just tell me to-]

She turned on him, jabbing a deathly talon towards the double doors they had entered from.

"Go outside, Idris! Please! I need to do this, now!"

The look on his face was nothing short of a war, an endless battle of duty and a certain other emotion. Soon however, much like it was so known for doing, love won out in the end it seemed.

[...Alright.]

The prince knew that look. The look of knowing when a spouse just needs to do something, as crazy as it was. The look of not a King, but of a very tired husband who just couldn't fight anymore. He had pride, sure. But his wife needed something else, and he was too tired to fight against it anymore.

[Tell me when you're done so I can come in here and act like an actual royal should.]

He turned his back on them and strode out, his beak clenched tightly and his claws scraping the crystal on the ground with every step. The moment he departed, the doors swung shut once more, and those eyes were upon the stallion again.

"...A changeling."

The brief delay, or rather the brief time where it was stretched out, was over. It was time to put away the unsettled captain trying to avoid a fight.

She was hungry for battle, and he had to give it to her.

>Yes, Gwendolyn, a changeling. She has been assisting in various aspects of our Empire's going on for quite some time. Is this an issue?

Enraged talons slammed hard against his pristine, and quite expensive, crystal table, nearly cracking it beneath her weight as her voice rose to an enraged screech.

"Of all the moronic, short sighted, ill thought out, stupid ideas I've ever seen in my long life as Queen you are by far the grandest of them all you idiotic pony!"

He remained steadfast, unfazed by her rambling save a subtle twitch in his frowning face.

>That's quite a rude disposition you brought with you. Perhaps we should talk about this at a better time?

His suggestion, sadly, did not take.

2/8
>>
>>25708100

"I cannot believe you would actually be so brainless as to let a changeling, of all thing a changeling, see all of your workings! All of it! By Tartarus she probably wrote most of it!"

>Little under half, actually. I liked handling the laws myself-

"Oh, and not to mention all of my own workings that now have to be reexamined with a fine tooth comb and restructured simply because your stillborn mind managed to squeeze the thought that letting a changeling of all things see that information was a good idea! A changeling! Did you drop on your head and somehow forget what changelings do!?"

>Didn't you find a bit of friendship with Ten? This is a bit of an over reaction considering-

"I used a changeling to sleuth, to find scumbags who were a drain on my system! That's what they do! They get in to where nobody else can and they find information, and they give that information to those who use it as weapons! You daft thing, this is exactly what would do the most damage! Are you that slow in your mind!? Are you that stupid!?"

He had been very strong in the conversation thus far, he felt. Had not raised his voice, he had not gotten angry, and he had taken every insult in stride. He had a lot to him to hold all of it back.

He was running out of that. All of that.

"Did you actually, for one hawk-damned second, think I would ever be okay with trading with a changeling!?"

'Would you?'

He did not know whether to curse his luck, or thank the gods that something broke that spiel up.

When he saw the telltale flames of green, he knew it was most certainly the former.

"LEAVE, INSECT!"

She had not even hesitated, had not paused for a second before she had pulled out an impressive looking mace that, to her credit, Shining had not even noticed in her robes before now. She hid it well.

It didn't surprise him that Chrysalis was not bothered by such a threat, he was instead far more focused on thoughts of war spilling out into his mind.

War seemed important.

3/8
>>
>>25708108

>Chrysalis, this is Empire business. I understand you want to help, but I think you should leave.

To his horror, this was the one time she decided not to listen to him.

'Normally, I would. This most certainly is about you two after, all. Normally, I wouldn't be here. But... this whole event, as much as it was awful, does actually present a situation I have needed to bring up for a long, long time now.'

The Queen spat at her, edging her mace closer to the unmoving Changeling.

"And what is that, you blasted timberwolf in sheeps clothing!?"

'Would you really be that opposed to trading with a changeling?'

In all their time together, in all his working with her and seeing her in mentalities and positions no other had ever been graced, he could honestly say he had only seen Chrysalis like this one single time.

Serious, focused, no smirks, no laughter, no threats.

Regal.

"What is that supposed to mean!?"

'It means what I said. Would you be that opposed to trading and interacting politically, if a changeling was involved?'

She began to move, causing every feather and hair on the Gryphon's hide to stand up on end.

'You do realize this whole... situation, this whole current status with our living, it's not meant to be permanent, no? We're going to one day have our own society, our own living status and such, the only reason we do not now is our low numbers. We're going to grow, we're going to become much, much more than just a tiny little fraction in a stadium some day. When that happens, are you really that opposed to ever working with me?'

The mix of bird and beast hissed as her fellow Queen neared, nonthreatening.

'Well? You have seen that we can be effective, quite amazingly so. Look around out there! Look to the efficiency and ease one changeling brought, look to what my species are capable of. If we grew, if we became a force unto our own, wouldn't you wish to trade with us? Wouldn't you want us as your allies, as we are to the Empire?'

4/8
>>
>>25708125

He had dared to hope that she might see the reason in this, the logic, and this could all be turned around.

"I... would never, ever, ever work with you!"

He didn't know why he bothered anymore.

Her mace came down, leaving deep cracks in the table.

"I don't care that your minions are by far witless and unfocused, I don't care if there are some like Ten that I find admirable, no. I don't care about any of them, because I know that at the helm of this all is you!"

Her claw very nearly touched the chitinous nose of the face that was struggling to stay still, struggling not to let any of the obvious feelings beneath it show.

"At the very top of all those supposedly benign things are you! You are just like her, no different from that monster! You are the lying, sneaking thing that lives on your deception of others, who only knows power and what you can use to hold over others! You are the one who thinks yourself untouchable because you have the right of birth and might, and nothing else! You're just as bad as her! You're just as bad as that monster! I would never, ever, ever share with you a single thing from my home you foul creature! And as long as my line is on the throne, you shall never have a thing from it, and I will see you all wiped out before I call you of all creature my ally!"

'...Get your claw out of my face.'

It was gone.

All of the almost professional stature, all of the placating air, all of her attempts to hold it in, it was all gone. Her eyes had narrowed, the tip of her fang showed through her lip, and she held nothing back from her gaze any longer.

"Or what-"

The moment she tried to lift up the mace, she found it lighter than before. Much, much lighter than before.

The fact it was bereft of it's more dangerous parts and was now little more than a stick might've had something to do with it.

"...I see."

58
>>
>>25708131

It dawned on her quickly. She remained strong, she remained unafraid, but it was quite obvious that although she had little fear, she also had very little in the way of defense, should the insect Queen try anything.

She never let it show, she would be a poor Queen if she did, but she felt it.

'Just so you know, I actually did want to work with you. Your Kingdom seemed on amicable terms with the Empire and Equestria, you seemed to have a lot to offer, and I liked that you were on such nice terms with my favored little reporter. I didn't come in here for this... but if that's how you feel, so be it.'

She stepped back, as smoothly and as coldly as a winter wind. It was clear to all, she was not backing down. No, instead, she was stepping aside. For what, Gwendolyn had not a single idea.

Until, of course, she looked back to the prince for the answers, and found them in the way his head was ever so slightly downturned, and the odd manner in which his wild hair fell over his eyes.

>...Gwendolyn? What, exactly, did you hope to accomplish today?

She brushed it off, as best she could and once more regarded him fully, and with as much rage as she had held before.

"It's simple, really. So simple, anyone could understand it. Either you send every last changeling from this castle, or your Empire and my kingdom are finished."

She had expected much from the prince of the land of love. Rage, anger, arguments, she expected all of that.

>...Get the fuck out of my castle.

That had somehow surpassed it all.

>I'm sorry, did you not hear me? Was I not clear?

He rose, a dangerous look on his face she had never seen upon him before, a look in his irises that felt so very familiar to her.

>I said, get the fuck out of my castle.

"...So, that's it, then?"

>That's it... that's it?

His hooves slammed down, inexplicably cracking his table even worse than her mace had done until it split the thing in two.

6/8
>>
>>25708138

>That's it!? You come here, to my home, to my land, and you demand that of me!? You have the gal to look to me and actually threaten your support over my allies!?

His horn was starting to spark, dangerous lights dancing atop them.

>You have the nerve!? Where were you when my land was besieged by machines!? Where were you when I faced a monster even worse than the disgusting thing that rampaged through your land! Where were you!? Where was your support!? No, I got nothing from you. No help, no aide, no protection for a supposed ally! But them!

He pointed, with all the power he could, to the Changeling Queen.

>They aided me, they have lived here peacefully, they have sought to help me in making my kingdom a better place. You want to know the irony of it all, Gwendolyn!? Eighteen has not touched a single paper with your name or country on it! She loved this Empire, loves it so deeply you could never understand, and as such she buries herself in making it better! I, alone, handle the foreign affairs! I handle every single order and taxation and shipment, I do it all! No 'filthy' changeling hooves have touched your precious lands. But fine, you want to leave? Then turn your ass around right now and you get out of my castle before I have you thrown into the streets! You do not demand that of me! You do not try to force that! I am the Prince of the Crystal Empire, and either you show me some respect or you run back to your damned kingdom!

Nothing, not a word, came from the Queen after that. Seconds passed, then minutes, the clock ticking away while she looked down the prince who had seemingly been eternally passive and kind, no matter the situation.

Even now, her mind struggled to comprehend it.

"So that's it, then? You'll turn away your trading partners, your Empire's prosperity, for them?"

7/8
>>
>>25708146

>Can your threats and shove them right up where they came from, Gwendolyn. My Empire lived for hundreds of years eternally isolated. It thrived, despite it being in the middle of a hellish tundra. The trade has made life improve, it has helped, fine. But if you think we couldn't do just fine without it, you're sorely underestimating the resilience of ponies who look like living rock. My Empire will live, it will flourish. Now, are you going to take back your request, are you going to take away that demand, or will we just have to flourish without you?

She didn't even think about it.

"...Without me it is."

She turned around, dropping the remains of her mace to the ground, and made her way to the door.

>That's a shame...

It was only some strange emotion she heard in his voice that made her pause, just for a little while.

>Two was looking forwards to helping you stop being scared of her someday.

That pause remained only long enough for a single thought to cross her mind, before she continued on. Swinging open the doors, sharing a single look with her husband, and continuing down the crystal halls, guards at her side.

The king gave a weary look to her before switching back to the prince, and letting a breath of resentment pass his beak.

[I suppose further discussion is off the table.]

He didn't even bother to wait for the confirmation, before he followed after his wife, and left the two royals behind in their empty silence, while the red from the white prince's eyes at last began to fade away.

>...See, this is why I normally let Cadence handle this stuff.

i kinda get where he's coming from though. The comedy is there, but it is all irrelevant or inconsequential to anything actually happening in the story.

it's like watching a heavy drama series which shows the outtakes at the end. They may be funny, but the main story is just so heavy y'know?

end of the day, the things that will be relevant in 20 threads are the main storyline pieces. the NCs, the omakes, the side stories, they all just get lost.

To be quite honest, I've been flitting in and out of this current arc here because of the 'doomandgloom' atmosphere.

Last I remember is Celly inviting PD into the castle. Why does she have the upperhand again? Because she's speaking for the people or something?

Short answer is Celly figured out PD's 'true' nature and PD figured out how to have 'an investigation' done in Canterlot Castle, while banning all Lings and Ling-associates from the premises until such time.
>>
>>25709265

Sooooo... why not just stall until AJ comes back and admits to whatever she needs to admit to?

The stalling would be hilarious, Celly would put trust in her student, AJ would get her moment, her developement, her chance to be 'honest', and that would leave PD with no wind in her sails.

Except how is she going to solve the Chitty taking the changelings thing she left in town? Sunset can't stall forever. I say sunset because Pom decided to stay and make small talk instead of go with.
>>
>>25709611
>Sooooo... why not just stall until AJ comes back and admits to whatever she needs to admit to?

Because that still won't help?

>No worries, everyone! Celestia agreed to a full, outside investigation to make sure that there was no influence mental or otherwise via changelings!

"Hey, Ah' gotta admit something. They weren't doing anything wrong and yadda yadda yadda. So this whole investigation don't matter."

>...Um, fantastic for you for coming forwards, but this is to make sure you, ALSO, were not mind controlled in some fashion. Like... you're not special here. And the fact you are now trying to dissuade this investigation that the princess just agreed to is throwing up a lot of red flags... like, all of the red flags. This looks like soccer at the shinkickers convention.

"Oh, right... but she's just doing it for power!"

>I'm not doing the investigating, I made that very clear. It needs to be Canterlot based.

"Oh... huh."

>...

"...Still don't do it?"

>Red flag.

"DAMN IT!"
>>
>>25709261
I say AJ grows a spine, be honest about her own involvement because that's what ponies want. Then to show her she's a mare of action, relocate the changelings to their own area of land to settle, so that they are subject to equestrian laws while they can have their own local laws. Changelings don't get hurt, ponies don't get hurt. They're out of peoples hair.
>>
>>25709653
I assume because someone has to at least put up a mockery of authority.
>>
Please update the pastebin
>>
>>25709666
....That's even worse!

>Fine! Ah'm relocating the changelings!

"Fine in the Empire, actually. If you just want to hand me back my dozen or so, that would be greeaaaattt."

>And Ah'm givin' them their own little piece of land!

"Right, I knew about that, I was actually saying I didn't want to do that a bit ago."

>BUT they'll be subject to Equestrian laws, but they can have their own laws too!

"...What? No. No! Hell no! The fuck!? You're trying to shove us off and then also tell me what laws I have!? I juh... nuh... WHAT!? NO! Fuck that! In the event we leave, why the FUCK we would follow what you have to say!?"

>Now yer' outta ponies hair!

"We're not even in your hair! Shining just chewed a bitch out for even insinuating we had to go anywhere!"

>This is a good plan.

"This is an awful plan!"
>>
>>25709655
She's the element of honesty, ain't she? Could not her element aid her in that one moment to prove she's not being zot--no I fucking hate that word. To prove she's not being mind-controlled?
>>
>>25709733
Not unless we actually give her a powerup or something from the tree... which I really hope we don't do, because that would be super fucking cheap.

I mean, just saying "Ah'm the element of honesty" isn't going to have much wait when she then continues "...and here's how I've been lying to you all!"
>>
I say we make spike shooting her in the head canon.

Much quicker.
>>
>>25709690
Oh are we making the changelings run away to Utopia Crystal Empire again? Let's make everyone run away to the Crystal empire.

Granting Chrysalis her own land lets her govern and send representatives to where ever she needs be. She'd have control, but like each city state, they are bound to a higher law.
>>
>>25709775
Not really 'again' they kinda went up there and state before they wound up refugees and then they headed back that way, back to what is now their home a little while ago.
>>
How about a secret recording device gambit. Cells just has one stashed in that room for just such an occasion and can then expose pennydrop's nature.
>>
>>25709753
It wouldn't be cheap if it was the one time it actually activated right when she needed it, on top of all the stress and guilt and anxiety that she's feeling.

It'd honestly just feel like a progression, something that should have happened awhile ago, without the whole 'you just controlled' handicap to distract from her words.
>>
>>25709775
>they are bound to a higher law.

Why?

No, seriously, why would she ever agree to that? Ever? That is seriously the dumbest thing. In the event she gets her own place, she IS the higher law, end of story. She's tops, and everyone else is a suggestion at best.

Complain about her being a bitch or too much power or whatever all you want, that's what it is. She would absolutely not follow a single goddamn law that wasn't hers.

>>25709803
But PD didn't say anything that would indict her in there. There's lots of Celestia accusing her, but nothing with her agreeing to it, and the worst case scenario is that PD gets revealed to have forced the agreement for the investigation... which is what the mobs wants.
>>
>>25709816
>It wouldn't be cheap if it was the one time it actually activated right when she needed it,

That is exactly why it would be cheap. It would be a literal duex ex machina there to solve a plot problem that has no buildup, no establishment leading to it before right this second, and no prior basis in the show. It wouldn't be a progression because there's nothing for it to progress FROM.

There was no subtle hints leading up to it, no previous links to her powers for her or any of the other elements, no reason for it to be except "We need a magic truth thing, now!"

Super cheap, and just plain bad writing.
>>
>>25709841
1.The hints could start now with whatever she's doing wherever she is.

2. I would think a good start-up switch for any honesty based ability would be being accused of lying due to mind-control.

3. Bad writing is bad writing if it's bad writing. Anything--and I mean anything--can be good if written well, as this thread has proven time and time again. The worse it can be if written well is nonsensical.

4. As usual, we'll see where this goes and who writes what first.
>>
>>25709788
For God's sake stop making the changelings run away to the Crystal Empire.

I guessed I must have imagined it, but I could have sworn Chrysalis had a monologue that things needed to change which would have been a perfect moment to try to be more open to having a piece of land of their own.

I must be mistaken because I guess the change is to run back to the Crystal Empire and people are okay with this. Running to the Crystal Empire will solve all their problems. Let Shiny's dick lead the way.

People had just discovered things were being run by a changeling and that it was being hidden from the citizens. Let's bring all the changelings there now. Trust your government citizen. This is not an invasion. The changelings are not occupying us.
>>
>>25709904
Alllllll of this.

Let's stop running and start dealing with problems head-on, shall we?
>>
We haven't written ourselves into a corner, we're written ourselves into a fucking labyrinth.
>>
>>25709904
... but they are not running away, they are already there, is the issue.

You can't run back to somewhere you already are. That's just like, physics. Again they're not bringing anybody there, they are already there! And the CE just doesn't want to take them out.

>>25709936
Not really, no? Like, it seems is going through a pretty straight progression. Only gets complicated when you want to suddenly add in bits like dues ex machina for Chrysalis suddenly being okay with listening to somebody else's laws
>>
>>25709936
That's pretty much what happens when you take hilarious beginnings and try to add realism to them down the line. Then there goes the humor and everything has to start making 'sense'.

Rarity outing Cadance could have been a humourous thing but it took a realistic path instead.
>>
>>25709733
... oh, shit! That won't work either.

>So then, you have to tell the truth.
"Yep."
>Nothing but?
"How it works."
>Okay, has Chrysalis ever mind controlled you?
"...once?"
*GASP*
"But she didn't make me do anything!"
>Do you know that because of some kind of proof, or just what she showed you in some matter?
"... latter, but I trust her!"
>And you know for a fact that was the only time, and not just taking her word on it? Like, you have proof?"
".... uh...."

The hive is in the Crystal Empire? I thought they're with Chitania who is currently in Ponyville.
>>
>>25710095
Er, are you a little behind by any chance?

The ones in Ponyville are about a dozen or so that AJ took on a field trip in order to help changeling image across the rest of Equestria. All of the others are back in the empire and have been for a while. Like thread 99 a while.

Chrysalis letting AJ borrow them was a sign of trust and all that, but she only let them borrow a few not the main hive.
>>
>>25710126
I thought she took the entire hive on the trip.

So let me get this straight. We had Chrysalis bring the hive to the Crystal Empire, brought them back to the ballroom in Canterlot. Had some Hearth's Warming celebrations in Equestria. Then at some point Chrysalis sent the entire hive back to the Crystal Empire for some reason and then only lent a dozen changelings to AJ?

Why was the hive migrated back to the Crystal Empire when we were trying to have AJ patch things up?
>>
>>25709936
Not a labrynth just a straight road I'll wager most of us don't want to go down that we're being forced to take by a minority who want 'progression' and feel this takes the form of kicking everyone out of the castle, removing the government from their hands, giving pennydrop the win, somehow bringing them back into power, and having them angst over pd being better at running the country than they were because she employed common ponies for paperwork despite all evidence they would be worthless at it.

I don't want to go, I'll bet you don't want to go, I'll bet most of us don't want to go, but a few very determined anons do, and they have the leverage to do it and no desire to listen to anyone else on the matter.
>>
>>25710226
>for some reason

Thought the reasons would be obvious.

And the why was because AJ was setting out on her journey and we ran out of reasons why she wouldn't go back to the Empire. It wouldn't make sense in story for her to give the whole hive, that's stupid.

Did you really not know this? Thread 99, it's a really damn good read. They shake hands and everything its a nice moment
>>
>>25710322
No, it's not. I thought the stadium was smashed, so they couldn't return. Sending them back rather undermines our attempts to make AJ make amends. Thread 99 is when AJ starts her trip with the changelings sure, but I didn't see the part where Chrysalis sends them to the Crystal Empire.

Can an archiver bring me the post where Chrysalis sent the changelings to the Crystal Empire?
>>
All in hearing from these arguments is
>give my perfect Apple the answers and go back to only hurting the ones I don't like
>give the BBEG all the power, that can't possibly go wrong
>throw the changelings out of the empire and put them directly under AJ's rule. Even though Chrysalis has been working towards getting her own land to start a Changeling nation.
>let's just call the whole thing off I don't have enough lols. I need my thread to be 100% laughs not 50-70%
>>
>>25710530
Can't get a link from my phone, but it's the very last story. The one where they shake. Just go to the first Omake, it's the story right above that. They're getting on a train and everything. It literally takes place at the train station.
>>
>>25710530
Beginning of thread 101 actually they were set to leave when AJ was setting off, because the repairs were finished enough and Lavan was on the horizon.

>>25710559
Mother fucker....it's the one I missed the end of. That's a detail I would have argued against.

So in the end, we just send the Changelings back to the Crystal Empire...wow this is amazing fixing. However, it looks like it's because of Lavan, so I'm holding out on this one shred of hope that we're not keeping them in the damn Crystal Empire.

>>25710559
Oh give it rest with the perfect Applepone has the answers bit. I've pointed out myself how she's fucked up and what she should have done. In thread 99, I can even see how she talks about how she fucked up and how she's trying to make amends, but we're currently not finished yet so she doesn't even have a win yet. She's weeping in the forest, dragging this out and wondering why she's a princess, instead of facing the problem head on and FIXING IT. I am not having a pleasant reading experience right now that's for sure. I came here for comedy from the very beginning and to fix things. It's true then, and it's still true now. I'd rather not get worked up coming here, so damn straight if I don't want to read your damn serious stories because guess what? I'm not in a laughing mood right now in a comedy thread. I'm in a shitty mood, so something is amiss. keeping the answers from the characters for long periods of time doesn't equal good storytelling and development. More suffering doesn't mean more development. It's about experience.

Instead of fixing things left and right, we are bogged down trying to fix one thing because apparently character development means we should drag it out. We set out to patch things up with the changelings with AJ's trip that started on thread 99. It's taken us 10 threads to get this far and we still haven't fixed it yet. To put it into perspective Partyland lasted 14 threads, so we're getting there. A dozen problems could have been solved during that same span, but we're going to solve one problem. Good job. We've made wonderful progress making the world a better place.
>>
>>25711170
Also fine, forget what I said about putting Chrysalis under Equestrian rule then.
AJ needs to start telling the truth. Don't let her escape that. Then she needs to provide action to show folks that she is firmly in control and fit to rule. How? I don't know, maybe by helping Chrysalis and her nation building. Changelings out of Equestria, no more worrying about invaders and more about the hydra in the swamp. I'm sure sure someone smart enough can think of something like swipe the land from Stalliongrad. How do we get them out of the Crystal Empire? Use comedy. Lavan mistakes the stadium as a toilet, or something. It was the best damn bowel movement he ever had. We are a comedy thread and shouldn't take ourselves seriously.

100+ threads and AJ still hasn't given changelings a home, she needs to fix that eventually. Don't let her avoid it or we will lose out on something meaningful for our title character.

A good princess (or a Stark) does the right thing and gets eaten by the wolves. A great princess, does the right thing and makes the wolves her bitches. I'm sure someone can come up with something and make AJ come out on top of this tricky situation. I wouldn't think it's boring that she solves it quickly. I'd just give her mad respect (assuming she does the right thing).

Fucking. THIS.

No matter what goes on, what arc does what, who claims what, we are a damned comedy thread and comedy should never take itself seriously. That's how we wind up like we are now.

We thrive off the silly and nonsensical. So let's keep it that way, /pa/ls.
>>
>>25711170
There are only two things I shall point out.
1) we have always (starting with Shaving Shiny in thread 1) had at least on character suffer to the point of angst.
2) I went too hard in the paint on AJ. I'm kind of like The Anon's with their changeling hate. I want to see AJ lose and have it stick, and hurt. I realize how that looks. As to the finish, if you can make AJ hitting Penny over the head with a mallet to solve this ten posts from now work without going out of the way to make it oox just to get it done, I won't shit on it.
>>
>>25711816
And I enjoyed him suffering very much. It was funny. It was played for comedy. Drowning has been a new thing.
AJ is suffering right now. It's not funny. It's not being played for comedy.
She's feeling bad about what she did to the changelings. It's gone on for 10+ threads. She's currently crying in the everfree, but apparently she didn't lose and it didn't stick and it didn't hurt. Excuse me for not being able to take you or your offer seriously.

DT wears curly goat horns and walks across the bridge.
[Who is trip trapping on our bridge! Thou appears quite delicious...delicious enough to eat right up.]

'You want to eat me? I'm just a little kid. Practically skin and bones. You don't want me. Wait until you see my friend who's crossing the bridge soon. She's bigger than I am, so plenty of meat on that. Eat her.'

"She was too young and scrawny to eat. She also promised that you'd be bigger than her, so you'd have more meat."

>Oh then you'll want to meet my friend who's coming up behind me. She's waaay bigger than me. I bet she can fill you up better than I ever can. Trust me.

[Hmm...that is true. You're not much bigger either. We will wait for thy bigger friend.]

.... I guess you were kind of hoping nobody else read the thread either? Oh, yeah you're a little off.

The only part I'll fight you on, because just pretty much all of that is wrong and this is the only part that really sticks out to me is being so wrong it hurts, is that for once the reason she is crying to herself has nothing to do with the bugs except in a roundabout way. She feels bad because she lied for so long and it caused the problem. Oh, and by the way, the reason she still with them right now? Because for the last 10 threads its been nothing but a straight win for her. That's right there was absolutely no obstacles whatsoever facing AJ since she left that train station. It was win win win until the reveal. And it's been nothing but comedy. Literally, we even had AJ thinking things were going way too well. No shit you're not having a pleasant reading experience, you're not even reading the comedy!
>>
>>25712187
That's like saying a team is winning at half time. If they wind up with a losing score at the end o the game it is still a loss. If anything this highlights how messed up this is.

Finally, AJ is getting things right with the changelings. Finally, things are beginning to go well. As one anon said a few threads ago, we're finally fixing things.

...and rather than wait for that to play out to blow things right the hell up some anon felt the need to shove it down our throats right now, throwing this storyline under the bus and pulling the reset lever on changeling pony relations. Not just in canter lot but nearly everywhere they were making advances as now ponyville went boom and even the CE will be giving the side eye.

So AJ is off feeling inadequate to her job (again), and the entire settin is being up ended. Except of course for the changeling/pony tensions, that is not allowed to change unless it is regression back to near the beginning of the thread apparently.

I honestly feel pretty bad for the anon writing the field trip since it basically just got completely screwed and whatever plans he had utterly scuttled.

All because some-non just couldn't take the 18 situation any longer. Yay.

That was fine political and character establishment. Reminded me of some politodrama shows I know on TV.

The only thing bothering me about this is that the Empire will face absolutely zero repercussions for cutting trade to one of their only two possible trading partners over this. And the other one may be forced to do a trade embargo because the economy-driving populace doesn't want to trade with an empire run by Changelings hiding in the shadows. After all, it's not the princesses who control the resources, but the citizens making trade.

.... now see, you say that, but most of the writing that gets thrown up is one post crap that it is just meant to try and steer them in the other direction. It's just single post no description crap with no effort thrown into it meant only to try and director the story of the way they want to go without actually having to write the hard bits.

The whole, just write it thing, only works in theory, or to somebody who was willing to put in the put in the effort to solve it. One post stupid crap doesn't really help

Dude, chill, it's fine. Even if we did decide to go in another direction, I would 100 percent happily slap an NC on the top of the next stuff I have planned and continue on anyway. There is no way I'm getting discouraged this far in, I just want to see AJ's little thing to the end, and I'm gonna. Like I said, even if every post after this one starts with NC, I'll be happy to do it, and won't care a bit that it won't affect future stories.

>There has to be an answer....

There were memories in these castle walls. Memories of a time long ago, a time less tamed, a time more wild and free and chaotic.

A time when all that stood between the eternal night and a life that Equestria lived now were a bunch of magical shapes.

The bringer of that magic, the light in Equestria's darkest hours, had been there time and time again. No matter what needed stopped, be they sisters twisted by rage or beings with powers beyond comprehension, it had been there to defeat it all.

She knew this. She had used it. She had felt that power, felt that magic, felt that wonder pull through her as every single cell in her body became one with a power unlike any other in the universe. She had held this power in her before, she had answered the call when it was needed, and it had answered when called by her.

Now, it was time to call upon it again.

She didn't know what, exactly, she hopped to find in there. What exactly she sought, or would gain.

All that she knew was that when that glorious light entered into her eyes, when she looked upon that which she had given up her greatest power to, she felt something.

She felt hope.

>...You've gotta have the answers.

The Tree of Harmony, tall and glorious as could ever be a beacon of magic in all of Equestria, shined on.

That pony was far too trusting sometimes.

All it took was a simple nod, the guise of going into the woods "for a break", and she trusted him implicitly. There was not so much as a hint that she felt he was dishonest at all.

He felt a little bad, really.

>What did you find?

Eyes, red as an inferno that mingled with green, looked back at him from the shadows.

"They are being moved."

>To where?

"... Everywhere."

A thoughtful hoof touched his chin, his tongue poking out ever so slightly.

>So, those orders on her desk were to Saddle Arabia...

"And many others."

>Indeed... Well, you know what to do.

"Of course. Should we tell the Pony?"

>No... Not yet. We can handle it for now.

"As you wish."

>Good. Take care, and call me if there are any problems. I will be there, if you need me.

"... Thank you."

>No need at all. Take care... Blossom.

In a second, a blink, she was gone. Off to do what he asked, to gain information he would soon pass to his Queen.

For, even if his current job had taken him to odd places... He was still a Changeling after all.

And he would serve his Queen.

Just pointing out the number one rule for all comedy shows "Status Quo is God". Nothing ever changes because it needs to be reset at the end of the day. And when they do have a big change? it is a serious, low on comedy episode or in the movies that ten min lull where it looks hopeless. So being mad that "Changeling/Pony Relations were almost fixed but now they are back to start" while also saying "don't take anything seriously" is contradictory. Because 100% Comedy means that how you see them at the start is how you see them at the finish. You want this thread 100% comedy, then incidentally you want no change (which means Changeling Pony relations never get better) or you want thread death. Because in case you missed it, comedicly, we already fixed everything thread one. It took a 100 year time skip but AJ fixed absolutely everything.

"SA"
~~~
Failure was something she was all too used to by this point. Failure to win over hearts and minds was another sadly common staple of her life. Suspicion was a part of her life, to be thought of a monster was as common as a pony who was shorter than her in height. What had happened, the words, the anger and the demands, were not something unexpected, or something she could not conceive.
Somehow still, this time managed to reach her more than usual.
"Where are you going?"
She hadn't stood long before striding out of that meeting room, waiting only until the Gryphon entered the airship and took to the sky before her limbs moved of smooth accord to propel her out of the room with the shattered table, never looking to the prince who watched her with every step, and followed her without hesitation the moment she was through the door.
"Chrysalis, stop!"
She ignored him, striding with purpose down those castle halls, every step reverberating off the finest crystal to ever grace the planet, a reflection of prestige and beauty for which it was known.
The prince paid no mind to the splendor, much as the Queen did not, keeping pace with her through extended effort to match her far taller legs. She ignored him, never looking back as she strode with her mind on fire far hotter than she herself could ever hope to conjure. Mind on a single truth that terrible exchange had shown.
Her worst fears, realized.
"It's not that bad, okay? Just stop!"
She had tried, she had truly tried there. Perhaps it was too late, she mused. Perhaps she should have made more of an effort back when she first arrived, perhaps she should have been more interactive with the royals beyond those she knew. Perhaps, if she had not waited so long, any would believe her or Shining as they spoke that this was not an invasion.
Perhaps, maybes and what ifs, as useless as a snowcone in a blizzard.
"I said stop!"
1/5
>>
>>25716194
She listened to no commands, another thing quite common in her life. She gave him nothing as she strode past bedrooms and offices, bathrooms and playrooms, all the while thinking to herself with thoughts that made her eyes go red.
She knew, if she were to have stake in this world, there would need to be some sort of understanding beyond this sphere of protection, there would need to be some sort of interaction with the world as a whole. This one exchange told her more of what she could expect if she ever brought herself to strike out in the world abroad then any speculation ever could.
The kingdom, the new country she had been forming in her mind, would face nothing but this. They would fight her, they would not trust her, and perhaps that was for the best.
No doubt even her one other ally in this world was in a state of chaos. She would have to act now. She could wait no longer for things to get better.
"Chrysalis!"
She opened the door without delay, as smooth and as powerful as a snakes strike, and looked to her target with all the hunger that rattlesnake would feel as they looked to a mouse.
If this was the world she would have to face, so be it. She had fought stronger opponents, deadlier, bigger and more powerful. If it was too late, so be it. If her stake in this would would call forth the sharks seeking blood in the water, so be it. If they feared her, if they wished her gone...
She would face this world, and show them why she was the greatest Queen who ever lived. They would not be rid of her, ever.
She stepped into the room, and waited no more for the world to change.
"I SAID STOP!"
Until he made her, that was.
She didn't know what to think when she looked down and saw her destination encased in a shield, only had a second to even register it before that shield expanded, and shoved her back with far more force than she had been expecting. Though it had not knocked her down, it may as well have blown her away.
To be cast through the air would make far, far more sense than the look on the alabaster prince's face when she turned around.
"What do you think you're doing?"
>I could ask you the same thing.
He advanced on her, locked on like a beast towards a wounded animal, and did not stop until he was no more than a step away from her.
"I'm keeping you from making things worse."
>I don't see how I could-
"CHRYSALIS!"
To hear him roar like that was like nails on a chalkboard to her ears. It hurt, and in more ways than one. It was only the way his face melted away into one of regret, and remorse, that reminded her of whom she was speaking to.
"...Do you really think this isn't going to have any repercussions? Chrysalis, I'm not stupid. They... she was wrong, we know she was wrong, but she made her choice. This isn't going to just affect you and me anymore. This isn't just about you, or the changelings. If she throws up an embargo, we're going to lose out on a lot of trade. If she somehow gets to all our other partners and convinces them to do the same, it could have massive repercussions. We could lose a lot here."
>...I know-
"No, you don't. You don't understand."
His voice dropped lower, went deeper, sadder.
"You don't understand... because just a couple trade partners isn't enough to make them reconsider. This would be bad, but they're beings who thrive on love, they won't turn them away for some lost profits. The gryphons and even the Maretonians or Saddle Arabians, that's not enough. But if it gets worse, if you... I know you never mean to, you don't want to, and you wouldn't. But sometimes... you just do."
>I-
"You cause some problems sometimes, you make things worse sometimes, and maybe my subjects might just ask what she did. They might ask you... go away."
Ever words was a bitter thing, every letter leaving a foul taste in her mouth. She hated it, every word, and wanted nothing more that for him to stop and never speak like that again.
3/5
>>
>>25716222
>So... why did you tell her no? Why not just offer to keep me from the castle, it would make things so much easier.
"Because I don't want you to leave, damn it!"
Even if she had not been a changeling, she would have felt that. She would have felt the emotion, the feeling from the bottom of his heart, bursting out with his voice.
From there, it poured.
"I don't want you to leave! I don't want to be forced to watch you go away, understand!? I like having you around, I can admit that! I like having you here! I never want you to feel like this isn't a place for you! I want you here, I... but I'm not a tyrant, Chrysalis!"
He spat that word, his voice changing from it's low, desperate plead only for a second.
"I'm not like... him! Like he was! Or like the Queens! I can't force them, I can't control them, I won't! I can mitigate this, I can deal with this. There will be problems, but I can handle this... but if this gets worse, if this gets too much for them..."
He looked to her, with eyes desperate as a dying stallion in the desert pleading for water.
"I can't tell them no, Chrysalis. They're my subjects. I swore I would make their lives better, strive for happiness. I can't tell them I'd rather they lived in fear and misery. I can't... I can't do it. So... so don't make me, please. Don't make this any worse. Don't make it so I might have to... make you go."
He reached out to her, at last. His hoof on hers, not letting go.
"I don't want you to go."
She had been speechless, silent throughout his speech, eyes and mouth agape in shock, no longer able to bring herself to hide it with her magic as she had so many times before. She could do nothing but look to him, exposed, as he pleaded with her as loudly with his gaze as his words screamed from the top of the castle.
Time was forgotten, she would never know how long it lasted until at last the keeper of reality caught up to her, and her hoof not pressed down by his rose up to break her trance.
4/5
>>
>>25716233
He could feel her heartbeat pounding though her hoof as it placed itself atop his head, burying itself in the twin-blue mane as gently as if she were holding a butterfly. She held it there, held him there, so she could look him in the eyes when she said her next words.
>I don't want to go either.
She pulled him in, his fur to her chitin, and she held him, for as long as she was able.
No matter how long it was, it was not long enough.
>I won't make it worse... but I have see them.
She released him, let him go and watched the sadness on his face when she did. Watched him feel bereft, without her grip on him any longer. Watched him look cold, without it.
>I'm telling the truth.
It was as desperate a plead to him as his own had been. Needy as a child's, and as desperate as well.
>...believe me.
He was shaking, when he did it. Slow, like frozen water trailing over the top of an icy lake, as he lifted his hoof off hers, and let her go.
Her head moved closer, so slowly he almost could not see, until he could feel the breath from her nostrils tickling his nose. She held there, so close she could nearly touch, looking right into his eyes in a gaze that would not leave. She twitched, as if she were to move forwards, and Shining found himself tensing for something, though he did not know what.
She pulled away at the last second, too quick to follow, and turned her attention to the portal that would lead her to Equestria.
"Will you... try to make it better?"
>...I don't know if I can.
He watched her be consumed by the magic, gone away before she could hear whatever it was he was preparing to say back. She went though, with resolve to if nothing else, not to make this worse.
Yet, despite the portal closing, despite the distance, despite all between them... she swore she heard it.
It stayed with her then, and she did not know if it would ever leave.
"I believe you."
She never wanted it to go.
~Canterlot~
~~~~

This was what she lived for.

To walk out those doors, to see those faces, as numerous as they were powerful, be it in politics, business or just plain magic. Canterlot, the crown jewel of Equestria, the diamond in the rough, and every single one of those magic wielding snobs were looking to her, rapt with attention. They were waiting on her, her every word, as if she were a royal who moved the stars themselves.

As it should be.

>Anything you want to say before I get started?

She had no illusions of doubt that the princess was behind her. While she was certainly not one to be out on the front lines in a fight, there was little chance she would stand back now that she knew what she was up against.

The princess stayed silent, and Pennydrop paid her no mind. Perhaps, at last, she had accepted the inevitable.

>Very well... Canterlot, can I have your attention!

She spoke with all the enthusiasm of a gameshow host, as happy as could be. If there was one thing a head of a multinational corporation and sometimes arms dealer understood, it was all about the presentation. She couldn't look official, not at all, she had to look like she was one of the group, like she was just as excited as they are.

She had to play her game.

~Well? What did she say!?~

A couple nervous eyes threatened to trail off to the taller pony, but Pennydrop would have none of that.

>I'm happy to say, that the princess has agreed to every single request we made!

There it was, the cheers. A refined, yet somehow still sloppy and sporadic cheer though it was. They were clearly all trying to put on as much an air of sophistication as would fit their breeding, but it was impossible to keep down the almost childlike wonder of having such a success. They were heard, they were obeyed, they mattered, that was all they cared about.

"Indeed, my little ponies, I have heard your requests, and I agree to them."

A strained grin crossed the smaller mare's face, so wide the Chesire Cat would tell her to back off, and opened her mouth to speak again, only to have herself beaten to the punch. A bit bitter, Pennydrop naturally decided to blame it on oversized lungs filled with hot air.

"Yes, you... representative?"

>I was jut who got picked.

"Oh, right, of course. Well! Miss Pennydrop has told me all of your wishes, and to be honest, I agree with them!"

More cheers, more excitement, more feeling of superiority.

~Well, it's about time!~

~I should say!~

"I of course understand you worry that your privacy or the safety of our kingdom was compromised. And though I could assure you, it was not, that all of this is just a terrible misunderstanding and nothing nefarious was done by any parties, I realize that actions speak far louder than words, do they not?"

~Here here!~

~Words are cheap, dear princess!~

"Which is why I am opening my doors to a full outside investigation to ensure nothing was compromised!... With one little exception."

Those cheers became quite mute after a time.

~...Exception?~

~I don't like the sound of that.~

The princesses eyes flickered to the side, just for a second, just for a brief flash so quickly no other could have possibly seen it, just to see. Just long enough to look to the much smaller mare.

She expected many things, perhaps a bit of excitement at the prospect of an entire crowd angry at her, thoughtfulness over more leverage, maybe even some insult that she would say this.

But to see the mare look to the crowd with a bit of worry was certainly the last thing she expected. It seemed, in this instance, she was just as worried of the rising swell that could turn into a riot just the same.

A mental note had been made.

>Princess, would you please elaborate for the group, you're being rather vague.

"Yes, of course. Ahem, the exception is, of course, that no investigation will be allowed to look at your private records, such as medical or what have you. But instead, I shall be opening up the records office and doubling the staff for all of you to personally come and take a look for yourselves that they were not tampered with or otherwise affected. After all, we can't have somebody sleuthing through an innocent pony's affairs!"

~I can agree to that.~

~Bully! I'd just as soon not have some tallywag eyeing up my business, thank you!~

The mare beside her almost frowned.

Almost.

>Well, I'm sure we can all agree to that. And the other requests?

"Ah, yes. Of course, all funding to changelings shall be examined to ensure they were of the legal nature and do not need refunded or what have you-

>And of course, the princess has agreed to ensure that no such conflict of interest is made, so she has agreed to bar any and all changelings from the premises.

~Now that's what I'm talking about!~

~Much better!~

Internally, Celestia cursed. She had gotten quicker, and in such a short time...

>Should we mention the fact that anyone who associated with them during this time is also barred? It doesn't seem necessary, right? They're smart enough to know.

~Pssshhh, well obviously!~

~What do you take us for, country ponies!?~

It never ceased to amaze her how easily tides could turn in a mob.

"Of course. Which, naturally, includes myself. But I'm sure none of you would mind that?"

They actually did seem to, she was quick to note.

>Excepting raising the sun, obviously, calm down who's ever in the back.

~I-I thought no such thing!~

>Oh, you! Anything else left?

To the crowd, it was obvious. She was asking if they had missed anything.

To the princess, the truth was obvious.

"Oh, just one more thing. Who will be heading this investigation? You?"

>Me? Oh, no no no! This is the City of Canterlot! It needs to be a native with pride, right?

~Here here!~

3/5
>>
>>25716294

"Then have you picked out a suitable replacement?"

>Myself? Oh no... it doesn't matter to me who does it. I'll leave it to them, it's all the same.

Only she caught the underlying note to that. The crowd cheered, already chatting among themselves as to who would take on this task.

>So, who would like to prove the nobility of Canterlot?

'Myself.'

The crowd stopped, growing silent in an instant, parting like waves just as quickly.

From their horde, he emerged. A white, shining beacon who strode with purpose, a dashing fellow if ever there was one.

Without a seconds thought, or hesitation, he moved to the front of the crowd, and stood tall with the others.

'I shall be heading the investigation myself, if it is alright.'

>...Fancypants?

The stallion nodded, already practically drowned with smiles and looks of thanks.

~Thank goodness!~

~Fancy! Of course, old boy!~

~Bully!~

>What an... unexpected surprise. From what I've heard, you actually have a bit of a liking for the changelings, don't you?

She tried to turn the tide back, of course she did.

'I should say that I did! However.'

Dramatically, he pulled off his monocle, and wiped it on his chest.

'I rather detest deception, and I even more so detest when my affair may have been affected by parties who I could not hold responsible in the event something were to go wrong. I have always been prone to giving the changelings a chance, though you should note I've never hired one to work for myself, but if there is deception to be had, I shall bring it to light!'

~Marvelous!~

~That's our boy!~

The tide would not turn.

>Well, so long as we can ensure you're not biased thanks to your interactions with the Elements-

'Biased? Why, if anything they have spurred me on greater! I have newfound respect for dear Princess Rarity, even! It takes great courage to expose something like this, and I would shame her if I did anything less! No, if she can shine a light on any corruption, then so shall I!'

Instead, it washed right back, and drowned her out with their cheers.

>...Well then, it's decided! Good luck, Fancy! Do Canterlot proud!

She shook hooves, the battle as short as it was decided.

'Oh, I assure you, I shall... princess, good evening to you, I'm off to get everything in order.'

She gave him a single respectful nod, smiling all the while.

"I thank you, Fancy."

'Don't thank me, it's very likely I will be forced to embarrass you in some manner.'

"But will you do it anyway, if I deserve it?"

'Of course.'

"...Then you are free to."

He shared her smile, shared her nod, and moved back into the crowd. The moment he was back in, the mare's facade was back on, her smile returned, and her showmanship at it's prime.

>Well, that's it, folks! You've won! Go home, get ready to wait in line-or pay someone to do it-and good job!

It was like a war rally returning home, proud marching of everyone back to their abodes to celebrate. At first, they rushed off in waves.

Then, those remaining bled out in a low wash.

Finally, the last trickled out like drops, until only two mares remained on the front lawn of Canterlot castle.

"...Didn't expect that, did you?"

>Hmmm, can't say I did. Not that it changes anything.

So much confidence, she had to respect that if nothing else.

"Do you want to know why I was never worried, Pennydrop?"

>You're going to tell me anyway, aren't you?

"It's because all you saw was a mob to be controlled... I saw ponies, and every one of them strong, even if they don't know it yet. It only takes one voice, Pennydrop. One voice... to topple a tyrant."

>Oh ho, Celestia, I know that... from experience.

With a strut in her step, and a flip of her hair, the mare began to walk off, shooting back one last, cheery note before she was gone.

>Enjoy your vacation, Celestia... it might be a long one.

The first round had been decided.

It would not be the last.

"...You know, I hear the beaches are lovely this time of year..."

>AJ
~~

It's warm glow.

It's beautiful splendor.

The magic that radiated off of it in soothing, lovely waves.

To look to it was to look not to the sun, not to heavens light, but instead something more beautiful, more wonderful, more indescribable. To look to the tree, the beacon of the very state of harmony that flowed through all beings, was to look into a wonder that had never been understood by any being, and never would be. To look to it was to know, to live, harmony.

To look to it was to know that inside, all the answers that ever were, would ever be, were held. To this tree, she gave all of her questions, and wants.

There was just one problem.

It didn't answer back.

...for it was a tree.

>... Ah' might not'a thought this one through all the way.
>>
>>25716408
Whoever's writing this, are you only going to do this in single or 2 posts per.... bit?

Cos I dunno how to express it, but I never feel like AJ gets the neato verbose stories like the other characters do
>>
>>25716427
He's doing fine. I can't stand walls of verbose stories.
>>
>>25716455
They got, like, a presence to them, a sense of importance and impact
>>
>>25716455
Yeah, these bite sized snippets are actually more to my liking. Easy to soak in and digest without going on and on and on and
>>
>>25716427
Normally only do 1-2 posts so that I can tackle an entire aspect of her completely and not get distracted with side emotions or hopping around to other thoughts and not resolving the ones I set out to address. Like with the Chrysalis story up there, that in 5 posts goes through a ton of emotions and changes, my normal writing style is to take one thing she's got going on in her head(like the parent thing or her doubt as a princess) and examine that one fully to get a more rounded grasp of her character, it just comes out 2-3 posts sometimes because it's, like I said, a single train of thought about a single aspect, and examining it doesn't need much besides.

That said, even with that in mind, she is going to get DEEP now that's she's with the tree, so no worries! Next part will be a bit longer though probably not a 5-10 post monster or anything... probably, and probably more introspective than I've done up till now.

That said I get what you mean, but one thing I don't try to do is skip over anything in her brain. I want to pick at her character, really examine what it is she's struggling with right now, really examine what it is this lie did to her. I'm having fun writing for little AJ again!

You know how many times we said "full harem end" guess who is in that (hint, it is the black one that he has already fucked). And you know why we can say that. Because show canon didn't say anything about what they did or how long they had in between Cadence getting sent to the mines and Twilight's arrival in Canterlot, we did. And we say they boned.

>...Huh... never thought I would enjoy this. You think, just like, the physics of it would be awful, but you're good. I'll give you that, you're really good at this.

"Hmmm."

The door, despite being a block of crystal, somehow creaked when it opened.

'Honey? Did you get to an agreement with...'

>...

It was only a small consolation that Shining was facing the door when this happened.

'...Shining Armor, why is my wife's head in your lap?'

>I thought that would be obvious.

"..."

>Just fair warning, the whole berserker rage thing won't work.

"Ih woh.... glk... glk..."

>Damn!

'G-Gwendolyn, can you stop that... thing... you are doing.'

She shrugged, lifting her head up nice and slow, letting out quite unsettling sounds when she did so, only ending when she rose up quite a lot higher than he was comfortable with, wiped her mouth, and turned around, thankfully blocking his sight of... things.

His heart stopped when she tried to sit back down.

It did not help when he was the one who stopped her, hooves on her hips.

>Whoa there, one off. You only get one!

"What!? But Applejack got three in a row!"

>Main character.

"This is such bullshit! I want more! Give me more!"

>Nope.

Seeing her try to sit back down again was too much.

'G-gWENDOLYN! W-whyyyy? Why have you done this to me!?'

"Screentime."

'WHAT!?'

Wordlessly, a talon pointed in the air.

'... is... is that a massive eight part story, with ties to the plot, differing emotions and character development? With setup for future conflict!? We have those!?'

"I do, now."

'B-but I didn't get any of that!'

"Well, duh.... hrm."

He did not like the look on his wifes face, especially when she looked right at him.

"...You know, if he got some, I'd get some more, wouldn't I?"

>...Wellll... I guess it's not technically breaking the rules.

'W-what isn't?'

His wife just gave him that... look.

That look.

1/2
>>
>>25717090

Then she got up, revealing that thing he most certainly did not want to see, and walked over to him.

She placed her talons on his cheeks, and looked him right in the eye.

"Honey? Do you want screentime?"

'...I...'

"Well? To be a character again, with stories?"

'...I... I do...'

"Well, there's only a sure way to get one, for certain. Be in a prophecy... or...'"

She tugged him, very gently, very slowly turning him.

And turning, and turning... until his back was pointed to the price.

'D-dear...'

"You don't have to, you know, if you don't want to."

'...'

"Well, Idris? Any requests?"

His pupils dilated, his breath went short, and his body rigid. Slowly... he went to all fours.

'Can... can I be in a comedy story? Please? I... I'm always so serious, I want to be in a comedy story. All of my stuff is too serious, please....'

Slowly, very slowly, his lion like tail swished to the side.

'...I want to have comedy screentime-OOF!'

A weight settled on his back, and there was hot breath in his ear.

>I'll make sure you get two.

He bent forwards, just a bit.

'T-thank you...t-...thaaaaannn....'

"Wait, doesn't this normally end with you in pain or hurt or something?"

>Normally, yes. But this is Princess Applejack.

"Which means?"

>Fixing stuff, it's all Celestia's fault...

'A-ah... ahhhhh...nggaahhhhh! N-not so fast!'

>And FUCK GRYPHONS!

'A-AHHHHHHH!'

...Yes, this was all for that one joke.
