I think Jesus is a pretty cool guy. eh listens to anons and doesn't create shitty threads
sage

>>25562123
Tis a man.

A messianic figure of one of Earth's biggest religions.
He was cool as long as you didn't use the temples as a market, which is funny cause of jews.
>>
Magic man.
Didn't do dick until he was 30 years old, died 3 years later.

My fedora is tipped so hard right now

Holy fuck I wanna be a missionary in equestria so bad. I would preach the shit outta those horses. I'd call celestia a heretic, then preach the good news right there in the fucking castle.
>>
>>25562123
Him and Juan come by to do the front yard every other tuesday. Nice guys, really.
>>
>>25562123
It's hard to condense everything about him. He was the incarnation of God, himself, with two natures: human and divine. He was born of the Virgin Mary through the Holy Spirit, lived a perfect, sinless life, then offered himself as a sacrifice to pay for all of our sins.

If a Bible ever makes its way to Equestria, I'd recommend you start with the Gospel according to St. John.
>>
>>25562627
We should have a story where a bunch of missionary anons go to Equestria, but it turns out each anon preaches a different religion.
So far I'm thinking Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, maybe Judaism, and Unitology since it's the cooler version of Scientology.
Oh, and then there'd be an atheist/deist/agnostic who automatically pairs up with Twilight to mathematically prove God doesn't exist.
Of course, the fact that I keep mistyping picture CAPTCHAs prove that.
>>
>>25562685
Logic and math actually proves that God exists tho. Also, you say Christian, but which one?

I've always wanted to write a fanfic about Pope Francis in Equestria.

"You have the magic of friendship. That's wonderful, but I would like to invite you to an everlasting friendship with the Lord Jesus Christ!"

Okay, approximately two thousand years ago, there was a small province of an empire, which was struggling with the desire for independence.

Amongst the various rebel groups and messianic figures, was a guy popularly remembered as Jesus. According to what was written down about him, he was ceremonially anointed as king of his people, with the title "Christ." And he performed a bunch of activities which were subversive to the spiritual, temporal, and rebel authorities. So much so that he was put to death.

Many of his followers were rumoured to be terrorists and assassins, but in the end, the message he espoused was combined with declarations that he was divine in nature, creating a cult which worshipped him as a part of god. This would eventually blossom into a full fledged religion, when the self-same empire he struggled against, accepted the religion as its state faith.

>Logic and math actually proves that God exists tho.

Interesting, in what way?
>>
>>25562736
Mormon. Jews already believe Jesus doesn't exist, so having a Jehovah's Witness instead leaves out the juicy tension of Jesus arguments.
Also, Mormons wear weird underwear, so I bet that could also be a conversation piece.
>>
>>25562685
When you say Unitology, do you mean the fictional religion from Dead Space, or Unitarian Christianity?
>>
>>25562783
The former. I didn't realize there was a Unitarian branch of Christianity.
>>
>>25562794
Well, a lot of people would claim they're not "proper" Christians, what with their non-trinitarian beliefs.
>>
>>25562736
Whether it is your intention or not, this is literal b8 for fedorafags. Please don't do this. Not another Christian vs. Atheist thread.
>>
>>25562763
A guy named St. Aquinas made a book a long time ago called "The Five Ways" and basically it's five different mathematical and logical arguments to the existence of a God, or an extremely advanced being, able to bypass all laws of physics as we know them. It's a good read, and it's super short. You should look it up if you're interested.
>>
Talk about religion on the interwebs and either good or bad you'll get a response no matter what.
>>
>>25562811
I don't want to have that at all. He sounded interested, so I explained. If Atheists really are a people of science and logic, they should have no problem with what I said.
>>25562813
>>25562763
Also, if you didn't want to read the book, I could summarize for you, as I have read it many times.
>>
>Tell me about Jesus. Why did he die on the cross?
FTFY
>>
>>25562813
The five ways are interesting. But not proof.

The ways postulate a collection of things. The Unmoved Mover, the Causeless Cause, the Ideal, and the Demiurge.
Regardless of the validity of the arguments, (of which they are suspect), it makes the major mistake of assuming these must be the same entity.
Why must the architect be the prime? Why must either be the most perfect?

I consider it all relative to our plane of existence. In the realm of a Creator, all that they do seems impossible and unquestionable because it's just too much to fathom. Now nowhere does it say not to question them, or at least not to ask questions, but I suppose it's along the lines of when you're little and your parents say "trust me".

That's the idea anyway
>>
>>25562902
I actually said that here:>>25562813
>or an extremely advanced being,
>>
>>25562943
Yeah, but it also assumes agency.

Why must the unmoved mover be an entity? We do not need to assume a Boltzmann Brain as a creator of everything when we can extrapolate other things, such as a gravitational singularity.
>>
>>25562888
St. John? I'm Roman Empire.
You don't get to bring missionaries.
>He works for the Trinity.
Jesus?
Get on the boat, I'll call it in!
Listen up! I have a charter for me, my crew, Dr. Judas here, but only *one* of you! The first one to talk, get to stay on my boat!
Tell me about Jesus. Why did he die on the cross?
A lot of loyalty for a holy man.
>Perhaps he's wondering why you'd crucify a man before throwing him overboard.
At least you can talk. Who are you?
>Nobody cared who I was until I bared the cross...
If I nailed you to your cross, would you die?
>It would be extremely painful.
You're a faithful guy.
>FOR YOU.
Was preaching to the masses part of your plan?
>Of course!
>Well, you preached to them! What's the next part of your master plan?
>Converting this ship, with no pagan survivors!
>>
>>25563012
If I nailed you to your cross, would you die?
>It would be extremely redeeming
You're a faithful guy.
>FOR YOU.

sounds better
>>
>>25562959
True enough. Just because a being is powerful, does not make it god. Even without getting into theodicy.

Still, I find the arguments themselves somewhat lacking. Let's focus on the Fourth Way, ex gradu. It assumes an objective scale of perfection, and that the most perfect being which exists, must be the most perfect being possible. When we get into the subject of perfect beings, we also run the risk of ontology. Which just brings up Saint Anselm's canadian girlfriend.

He's the protagonist of a long running human fanfic that that got popular sometime ago. Kind of a Mary Sue, but whatever.

He's still cute but his fanbase is terrible. Who even makes fanfiction out of fanfiction, anyway?
>>
>>25563050
Perhaps. Either way is correct.
>>
>>25563086
Why isn't there a porno between him, Mohammad, and Gabriel yet? It'll cause lulz and butthurt surpassing that of Charlie Hebdo's art.

Although I'm sure some people were offended by your post, I just found it fascinating. The idea of The new testament being an old testament fanfic seems weirdly fitting.
>>
>>25563127
Because Jesus still hasn't gotten over what happened the last time he got nailed by two guys.
>>
>>25562123
He's a faggier version of you, basically. Don't worry, shnookums, you have no competition.
