Someone in the last thread said GS was an immediate success like (the utterly flawless CYOA that is) JAD. As someone who was there since the beginning I'd say not. Not this Anon, but what's the consensus on humans as characters in a CYOA? I have an Idea for one I want to run that would switch between a pony and a Human MC. They wouldn't interact until their personalities had fully established so that no one acts out of character, but the pony sections would be more lighthearted while the human sections would lean scifi gritty.
It wouldn't feature "Anon" at all, and you'd start out playing the pony, but I don't see anyway to do the story I want without humans.

Most of this ordering is based off of the genetic diversity displayed in ponies from these various eras as well as the abundance of various creature that likely have gone extinct.

By Generation3 we see a schism between the various tribes of ponies showing that there must have been something that drove them apart that is still keeping them separate. As there is likely some form of conflict between the tribes we can guess that some of the various pony tribes such as flutter ponies that kept their communities exclusive where wiped out causing rare item's like the sun's stone to be lost or captured by one of the three kingdoms that arose after the schism. We also see the same Spike from Gen 1 living in a castle in Gen 3, although he had been sleeping for most of the time in between. Also breezies exist.

>By Generation 4 we see that there has been a reunion between the tribes under the rule of the Alicorns. Interestingly enough the Sun's stone no longer seems to be present but the leader of ponies country has the power that the sun's stone was said to possess. At this point we see the return of Tirek who was a known villain by Gen 4 and who turned pegasi into dragons in Gen 1. during this time we see ponies interbreeding from various tribes. and going with the idea that horns and wings are recessive traits via the Cake's excuse for their children's appendages it is likely that interbreeding will cause those recessive traits to show less as time goes on.
By Gen 3.5 we see no pegasi of unicorns, and the technology available to ponies has improved.
By Generation 2 There are no pegasi or unicorns outside of those that randomly show up to stop that hot air balloon that patch is on and the level of technology has surpassed Generations 3.5 and 4

I'm not against competition. I'm against popularity contests. Incidentally, I'm also against players competing for quests instead of quests competing for players. Which is also different from QMs competing for players.

Players competing with each other draws arbitrary lines between the population of players. M&Mfags vs JADfags. That kind of distinction will just lead to drama and fighting, much like {waifu}fags. An example some time ago was RGSfags. They were very much treated as a separate thing until RGS ended and they dissolved into the thread. And there was an underlying tone of people getting tired of RGSfags and their meming.

Popularity contests are also pretty negative. They always have the effect of making what's popular even more popular while what's not popular stays not popular. Without any real relation to merit. There's few enough quests that ones you read should be chosen based on interest as opposed to popularity.

At the end of the day the archive has a strong effect on quests. It's already viewed as a sort of achievement to get on it by some people, which I don't like but understand. And I try to be careful to not encourage behaviors that I view as negative.

Shit like that was basically the exact opposite of what I expected and wanted out of the concept, which is "Twilight turns Anon into a filly and punishes him in various further ways, but none of them work because they all end up being his fetish." Or basically anything that invoked lighthearted goofball antics.

Instead we got maximum edgelords in an escalating depression arms race to see who could kick the puppy the hardest.

What's worse is I don't think it started out that way. Like I think for two threads it was a more normal AiE/greenthread offshot, and then some fuckbucket makes the third thread with "abuse" as a main theme. It didn't even get a chance, really.

I'd try an Anonfilly CYOA that was actual lighthearted comedy based around "mind of a depraved adult in a kid's body" antics if I had the time.
