I wouldn't say that they will be telling others how to get their marks. They helped Troubleshoes discover what his cutie mark meant in Appleloosa's Most Wanted and then helped Diamond Tiara see the light of her cutie mark again in Crusaders of the Lost Mark. They might have their marks but they aren't ready to get a job yet. No other fillies their age have jobs as far as we know.

You can complain about aesthetics all you like, but this clearly had a lot of thought put into it. If it just looks like a random, lazy mess to you, you either don't understand the characters or just aren't trying to think. I'm sure they plan on talking about and explaining the marks in a future episode or two, anyway. This episode wasn't about that. What would have been awkward is if in the same episode that they got them, they gave speeches about their marks and what they meant and what they had to do with them. It's good to let them just have them for a little while before doing that.

You should know all too well that two parters are reserved for premiers and finales and they always focus on the Mane 6. The cutie marks symbolise their combined purposes of helping others discover their cutie marks while also representing their unique talents.

Could they have used a more appealing color palette? Sure, but I'm happy with the overall design.

Let me humor you.

The Cutie Mark represents the three of them as friends and as Cutie Mark Crusaders, and to help other ponies get their cutie marks as well.

The problem with that, is that it makes the Cutie Mark Crusader aspect of them apart of who they permanently are.

This is what I call, lazyness. They use the most obvious traits of the characters and make a simple, supposedly natural cutie mark that "represents" them.

But, the truth is, the cutie mark's themselves are unnatural cutie marks, what are they special snowflakes now? They get three shield cutie marks because of their bonds? That breaks my suspension of belief and tells me the writers aren't really thinking that hard.

It's an insult onto itself.

If it turns out that that's all there is to it, you're totally right. I believe the complex, similar marks and the dramatic acquisition means they'll do very important things with those marks and the talent, though. End up reforming some major villain or something of the sort. Some big fate thing like how the mane 6 and elements of harmony were connected by that Rainboom and met the way they did when they did. But if it does end up with nothing like that being the case and I'm wrong, then you're right. It's too early to say it means nothing and was just slapped on for the sake of it, though.

That's what I meant about understanding the characters. Their marks inside the shields do explain and represent the girls fairly well. In a way that makes you think more and makes them clear to be deeper characters than if the microphone, hammer and scooter that mostly everyone wanted and expected to see happened. I won't go explaining what I think they all mean right now, but I'm sure that at least that part of the marks aren't random or lazy. It's because those parts make so much sense that I'm more sure that the shields and dramatic flash meant something more than "look, everyone. Cutie marks, lol". They'll be the saviors of Equestria some day

Here's two ponies cutie marks that coincide with each other directly. There's a precedent for this.

One's an apple with a slice missing, and the other's a slice of an apple, presumably the same piece.

On the other hand, with the cutie mark crusaders, They have no real relation, other than being friends and being Cutie Mark Crusaders.
