Like 5 months after a really helpful anon gave me some great tips (>>15357986), I finally finished Infinite Space. Despite the problems with that game, it really did a good job of making me feel like a pretty badass space captain. What are other games that make you feel like a true /m/an?

General /m/-related game thread. Infinite Space is clunky and weird, but I recommend it if you're into space ships and fleet building.

I really liked Infinite Space. I had a few glaring flaws, but a lot of fun overall.

Most /m/ game for me is pic related. Really delivers on the whole 'yeah your friends died, now get in the robot kid and do crazy shit and save he day.' dynamic.

dat ending tho

Where you and your fleet may be the last human beings alive in the universe....

....unless of course, the wish made in the ending brought everyone back and not just Kira
>>
>>15852437
I really wonder what was up with that ending. Did they just want the ambiguity? Or were they banking on getting a sequel? It got pretty dark when planets started getting nuked.
>>
>>15852388
>>15852392
I can't bring myself to play this series because all I can think of is K O J I M A
>>
>>15852463
Probably both also I might be misremembering but weren't there still a bunch of systems still alive when the MC and his companions went to the gate? I think Lugovalos still sent a fuckton of ships to defend any systems they could while their emperor and prince went to help the MC.

I'm also now remembering how the Emperor and the crew of his capital ship were true /m/en, willing to crash face first into a dyson sphere just to fire every single gun from the inside of it just to give a chance for everyone else to pille on
>>
>>15852392
We were given a chance to support it and we failed it a second time. We can only blame ourselves.
>>
>>15852740
All of Lugovalos is amazing. The capitol of their nation is a twenty-six kilometre battleship for fuck's sake.
>>
>>15852362
Man I remember that game.

I also remembered how I missed the 2 ship fleet upgrade completely somehow and ended up getting owned by a boss fight for a bit before beating it and finding the 3 ship fleet upgrade
>>
>>15852362
I never finished this game, and will probably never play it again. It was actually pretty decent, but I got really sick twice while playing it (once with pneumonia), and I just can't.
>>
This thread has convinced me to check Infinite Space out.
>>
>>15853876
Invest in a Borodino ASAP, you'll thank us for it when it's still paying dividends in the midgame.
>>
>>15853972
I was deeply saddened when I had to retire my Borodino. It took me through so much of the game but just couldn't compete in the LMC.

Naming it the Galatea was ironic to say the least.
>>
>>15854893
It can't compete, but it sure can hold its place for a while. I bought a second one shortly before leaving the SMC, and the pair of them served me well as second line gunboats until I could afford to outright replace them both (which took a fair while). The biggest difference between SMC and LMC ships is that the latter are way, way more durable thanks to their HP, and module bonuses can't close that gap like with most other stats. But because firepower is wholly dependant on guns, and guns can just be upgraded, and the Borodino has battleship grade gun mounts it makes for a perfectly serviceable glass cannon to fill out your fleet provided you keep them in the back. Plus they can sort of keep pace in other areas because they have so much drat module space to cram with upgrades.
>>
>>15853876
It's good, but it takes a frustratingly long time to really ramp up. If you stick with it, you get a good space opera. But getting there is tough, so I understand why people quit before they get there. I nearly did.

>>15853972
More like Bro-odino. They got me through some great battles. But then started dying really quickly in the LMC so I shifted to the Agrell, I think, which I kept for the rest of the game.
>>
>>15852362
I really loved that game. Every time I started it up I'd hum the Harlock OP, it really made me feel like a space captain.
>>
>>15855299
>>15855289
The insert song was real good, and it was at that point that I realised how totally invested I was in that space opera.

She was cool and all, but the girl that really bummed me out was this one because although you have a choice, it's only in how badly she gets screwed. Poor Katida deserved better.

Well, and a couple other things, like not siding against and killing her countrymen in a war and displaying concern for her wellbeing.

It was bittersweet because of all she had to go through first and the fact that she never even got much out of it in the end, but recruiting her still felt like one of the most important things I did in that game. Who cares if she's not actually very useful, she HAS to have a crew position otherwise it was all pointless. Yuri made a PROMISE damnit.

Seriously, of all the Lugovalians to marry her off to, why the sole one with no redeeming qualities whatsoever?

>Infinite Space
The one Platinum Games game that is almost forgotten to time already.

People will remember the phoned in Korra game longer than this.
>>
>>15858443
The main reason it would be remembered is one of the devs being Nudemaker. I mean, can't forget that kind of name.
>>
>>15858434
Thank goodness this didn't happen during my playthrough.
>>
Is there a complete list of bugs and glitches for this game somewhere? I recall there being a LOT of problems, which kind of ruined my desire to play it.
>>
>>15858443
damn it
>>
Did you guys have a naming theme for your ships? Let's hear it.
>>
>>15860586
I kept the original names cause they were already cooler than anything I could come up (hello Absoluta), but I did call that one ship perfect for loading up on cargo bays and farming money "Gold Digger". That made the grinding for the first rank a liiiittle more enjoyable.
>>
>>15858423
I have inhuman hatred of her because she going crazy ends up killing two of the most nice characters in the game in the most sad way possible, the only reason I save her now is simply because saving her means I can save those two
>>
>>15858434
Man, that came out of nowhere, I was honestly pretty horrified, they did not deserve that at all, jesus christ
>>
>>15860586
I named my strongest flagship Lochlain because that seemed like a nice thing to do
>>
>>15852362
I finished the game once and planned to go back to do the routes I missed, but they don't change anything right? so I never got around to it.
>>
>>15852437
>>15852463
>>15852740
The ending was Yuri and his crew ascending to the level of the Overlords and becoming the new masters of the Universe. They recreated some things.
>>
>>15852392
>>15852769
Wasn't that the one where the success was predicated on the sales of ZoE remaster but the remaster was really shitty?

>>15862304
It's not. If you jump through the right hoops with Katida (get angry out of concern for her wellbeing instead of just nagging her, buy the real flowers and side with Nova Nacio in the war) she never loses hope that Yuri will keep his promise to come back for her and rather than joining the Lugovalian navy and spending ten years clawing her way up the ranks out of sheer vengeful spite she instead ends up politically married off to (of all people) Trevor Desmond, the one person in Lugovalos with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, whereupon you can bust her out and recruit her when you go to sort Desmond out. A decade as a trophy wife has fair taken the wind out of her sails though, so she's not up to much as a crew member. She also pretty much ends up cucked by Nia anyway because plot.

Meanwhile, if she joined Lugovalos she ends up Eremon's top officer and during that battle she immediately sees what Roth is trying to pull and focuses down his flagship, leading to their mutual deaths when the HS blaster goes off. Whereas if you recruited her that fleet is instead lead by some bit character who doesn't have anything like her tactical acumen, so the plan goes off without a hitch and Roth and his ship make it through fine, and even join your suicide mission dream team during the final section of the game.
>>
>>15860586
In Act 1 I named my ships after various Japanese deities. In Act 2 I switched to Buddhist deities. My final flagship Absoluta was named the Maitreya, with various bodhisattvas making up the rest of the fleet.
>>
Such a shame this game massively fucked up by Sega.

Having its endgame plot being rushed and being given little advertising.

This game is indeed of a remake.

Infinite Space is a hidden gem.
It's seriously impressive that a former porn game company did such a solid job with storytelling.

Dude, Nudemaker people created the original Clock Tower games and also Steel Battalion. They have a good pedigree
>>
I feel like I'm kind of dragging myself when playing this game because the characters have almost no charm

Just beat the pirate dudes at their planet and saved the girl from blowing up. Hopefully it picks up soon
>>
>>15871070
The early game consists mostly of the cast just sort of aimlessly bumbling around. The plot does pick up, at around the point where Lugovalos is introduced.
>>
>>15871079
Are new, interesting characters introduced? The only one that isn't a borefest so far is Nia. Torlo is just godawful.

PS: Grus

Anyone have the artbook? I remember playing this game a long time ago, and when I think about it, I probably never got all the NPCs or did all the routes.

I have the artbook but no way to scan it. I could probably get it shipped to me and make a cheap book scanner though out of cardboard so I don't have to debind it, but I have a shitty camera so the images would be low quality.

What's it cost on Yahoo Japan these days?
