I found it really cool except the acting of the main actress, that is so bad that affects the series as a whole.

However, it is still worth watching, there are a couple of episodes full of action that are great.

Wow. Park's first really notable work as an action animator was on the Bayonetta movie, so he probably wanted a gimmick like that, but guns would be too close, hence knives.

Garo has always had this weird sort of thing going on with the setting where the live action shows are only -kind of- Japan. Written language is almost always rendered in English if it's not in the Makai script and the few times we've seen money, it's always been American bills or some kind of fictional currency. I guess the idea is that Garo could take place pretty much anywhere.

Last time I checked in on a garo thread there were only subs for up to S4 (black blood), have any of the later seasons gotten subs since then?

And Seki was also in both the anime series, not a particularly major character in the first one though. He seems to be the lead for this one which is cool. I like the recurring cast members, they're all fantastic VAs anyway.

Honoo no Kokuin and Divine Flame (First series and sequel film) are both very great, Guren no Tsuki (2nd series) not so much. Only decent part of GnT was how cool the 2nd armour looked, in my opinion.

Watch the first + movie, don't watch the 2nd series. If you want to you can, but I can't guarantee you'll enjoy it at all.

The first one + movie, as everyone + their dog will tell you, are pretty great. I have a hunch that Finishing Line is going to become the new entry point for fans of the live action, though, because of the similar settings. We'll see.
