What in your opinon, is your preferred size/scale of a MC Super Robot?
Colossal.
50m minimum, 120m is about right.
all big robots are nice
>>15843120
As big or small as would make them interesting.
>>15843120
>>15843603
Psycho Gundam's head is the same size as a Ball.
>>15843603
>mfw the main Yuusha/Brave robots are only 18-30m tall
>>15843603
Been some time since that chart-anon vanished...
>>15843312
Ideon is a eldritch abomination in robot form
>>15843120
Rally depends on what they're going for. Gunbuster is huge at 250m or so, but it's perfect for what it wants to convey. Same with the RX-78-2 at 16m or so, and the Scopedogs at their even smaller scale. As long as it suits what they're going for, it's the perfect scale for me.
That said, yeah, REALLY GIANT giant robots make me more rock-hard than the others.
>>15843658
>tfw we never got the 70s list
>>15843731
>16m or so
18. A lot of notable robots are 18 or really close to it - Tetsujin 28, Mazinger Z, the Gundam... it's got a good scale to it.
>>15843775
He was getting to that, since >>15843775 and this were left over.
Had to degrade it 17% to post here.

I thought that was Shin Getter

I wonder if these scale charts will be appreciated by the likes of Wired or io9 or Nerdist, and if it's even worth the trouble to get some of their staff to notice these.
>>15844279
there are robots on there besides volton, optimus prime, and the megazord so no, no western "nerd culture" website is interested
>>15843120
Is the really huge one Daitarn 3?
>>15844315
Most likely yes
>>15843797
man... for a city bot, metroplex is damn puny.
It depends on the context.
For example, none of the visual gags would've worked in Megas XLR if the titular robot was bigger or smaller than 100 feet tall.
Its specific size allowed it to get in traffic gags and had it leap off from buildings bigger than itself to replicate pro wrestling body slams
big!
>>15845098
>No SDF Macross
>No Battle Macross
You can't be under a kilometer high and still be considered "big".
>>15843120
35-40 for Super
18-25 for Real
IIRC, Gunshin Kyoushuu(War God) Demonbane went universal/multiversal-sized, but were there any other moments where Demonbane went universal/infinite sized?
>>15843120
Why is Mazinger such a robolet. It's embarrassing
The bigger the better.
>>15846657

Good stuff there anon
>>15846657
Reminder that "Giant Robo" has never been more than 30 meters or so tall.
And 18 meters was fine at the time, that was the same height as Tetsujin. It is entirely not Mazinger's fault that Getter Robo decided it needed to be twice as large, and people took this as a challenge.
Anyone else sorta think EVAs constant size retconning to be outright sad.
>>15845098
the growing Eva 1 will always be one of my favorite parts of this chart
>>15844347
Transformers are generally tiny when compared to other robot franchises due to their vehicle mode choices. Even if there is some size shifting to ajust, which always happens. i.e.: Volfogg, the GaoGaiGar police car, is 10,7m tall. Barricade, the Decepticon police car from the first Bayformers movie, is only 4,8m tall.
They always have Primus and Unicron to fill in when really large robots are discussed.
>>15847296
Its an American thing I think. Fortress Maximus is there and he's like thrice the size of Metroplex.
>>15846701
This'd be more interesting in some respects. Godzilla would have more clear paths and the ability to hide somewhat. Imagine the damage he could do in a modern city.
>>15843120
Man I don't fucking know. Jesus Christ every fucking day you ask the same inane shit here what the fuck do you want from me dude?
>>15843120
As big as it needs to be
>>15847389
>Imagine the damage he could do in a modern city
It would be minimal AND he would get fucked over by modern weapons pretty fast
Fun fact: Golion is 196.85 feet tall while Voltron's official height has always been 300 feet tall.
Daizyujin's canon size is 136.811 feet tall while the Megazord's height is 333 feet tall
Daizyujin weighs 570 tons while the Megazord weighs 80 tons
Golion weighs 700 tons while Voltron weighs 5,500 short tons
>>15852682
Daizyujin and Golion both have blue and yellow shins/calves with animal heads as feet. I recall on either a producer or director of Zyuranger or designer of Daizyujin stated on how that design element was used as homage.
>>15843603
I love that a Scopedog is the same size as Gunbuster's forehead clit.
>>15852711
>designer of Daizyujin stated on how that design element was used as homage.
That's actually the case.
Funny coincidence seeing how both were American's earliest exposure to giant combining robots piloted by a color coded cast (which led to ignorant people thinking the Megazord was just a ripoff of Voltron when MMPR debuted)
>>15852682
>feet
What barbarian land is this? Can't you use a civilised measurement?
>>15854323

>>15854323
>That Kapool in Ideon's hand
>>15854338
It's a pretty normal size overall. Using that picture is really unfair, most of the things in that image are 50m and up.
>>15854543
Raideen's looking pretty big there, I thought the waist-section was meant to be about motorbike sized?
>>15854323
I wonder what Valsione is talking to Tetsujin about
>>15852744
Was it really a coincidence? Saban must've been aware of how Voltron looked and worked, and its success. He could've been banking on it.
>>15854547
Nope. A bit below 60m in size.
For the sake of comparison to other things in that picture, remember that Akira Fades Into the forehead. Consider the approximate size of that forehead and Akira to the size of the cockpits of the nearby Layzner and Dunbine, or the midsection of the Scopedog.
>>15854582
Originally it was going to be Jetman IIRC
I meant that it was a coincidence that Daizyujin was directly inspired by Golion and that info wasn't known at the time
