The federal solution to this was to almost completely ignore maritime concerns making Zeon naval advantages a moot point.

Whereas Zeon invested plenty of R&D into specialized amphibious MS, the Federation was content with modifying its standard GM series to serve the role.
If we talk raw power, then units like the Z'Gok win. However, as far as resource allocation is concerned, the EF's effort makes more sense.

They should have invested in better aquatic units during the relative peace times, they allowed Zeon remnants mostly uncontested access to and in the oceans.

the Feds still had a powerful traditional Navy IIRC and that with the Aqua GMs were more than enough to defend against Zeon Aqua units.

The whole point of amphibious suits is that they're so high-spec that they overheat as a downside.
They're great on land but perfect in the water.

If normal suits look like a person and people live on land, shouldn't aquatic mobile suits look like a fish?

Actually moonrunes are a sheer enigma to me, I mostly bullshitted my way through with the wiki's event trees and some quick and dirty machine translation. They're pretty simple to play regardless, given Axis V has model numbers so you can google up which obscure MSV suits aren't garbage, for example.

'Capture2Text' is an incredibly godawful program that's accurate once in a millennium if you try full sentences, but it helps immensely if you just need context for commands or certain events. The IGLOO events don't even say '607' until you've chosen yes/no, but it does say the name of the unit you'll get, so being able to translate the name helps, at least. Also prevents you from engaging Operation British 2: Colony Boogaloo by accident, as well.

I've mostly just been playing Axis V, myself. At some point or another you start skipping attack animations, but the actual battles get progressively bigger if you blitz the Federation too fast, like how they can have over a hundred fucking suits in Britain for some reason. Also, picture included to slightly back down on the derail.

The Fed navy really didn't do anything of note through the entire OYW. It's not outright stated but they were effectively impotent in the face of Zeon naval MS.

My favorite mech to play in the fighting games was Hy-Gogg (Spelling?), mostly because I liked to bitchslap opponents repeatedly from far away.

Dunno how effective they were in the anime though.
