Because, let me tell you from experience, flatties are pretty fast. I don't know if it's the lack of weight on their chests or their propensity to ride vehicles, but they are hard to shake off.

You know what the biggest problem I've got with how Ignite is being used? It's not that's it's a raw power upgrade, but that it's only a raw power upgrade. The gears go from avoiding attacks and trying to land their own to tanking literally everything until their opponent panics and tries hitting them some melee explosive.
Who was the guy watching Tsubasa slicing tank shells and saying "you know what would be better than this? Having her just take them right to the face."

On the Mass Effect discussion, Mass Effect sounds like a terribly broken cover shooter. It also sounds like a perfect analogy for everything I dislike about these action scenes, so maybe I should go play Mass Effect.

Really? The first one was a terrible mess that didn't know what it wanted to be: was it an rpg or a third person cover shooter. But we can all agree that the MAKO segments was horrible.

The second game was better because they ditched the open world segments and focused on making the combat segments better. As a plus, the whole thing did feel big and the writing was better in the 2nd one because they ditched the Bioware writing formula in this one for the most part.

The third one fell flat because of the ending obviously but the gameplay segments was significantly improved thanks to the speed and the multiplayer was surprisingly solid despite a lot of issues.

MEA is ME1 on a new engine and a far superior combat system. It was clearly a beta released three months too early and it showed thanks to the graphical issues. And before people bitch about how MEA is not ME1, both games are open-world sci-fi games with an emphasis on exploration thanks to a tank-like vehicle that you use to traverse the terrain and both games are clearly setting up for the next game in the line. It's just that we were a lot more forgiving of ME1's flaws because of the huge expectations that are riding on MEA as compared to ME1 and MEA did not meet those expectations.

All of this sounds infinitely more interesting than what Maria has done so far.
The best we've gotten is her copying Chris after she tries introducing herself the same way Hibiki did to her, but even that was missing the charm of Chris stuttering when trying to come up with something she loved just to say "anpan". Maria just said her name and age.
Scene could have been even better if Chris got to her height/weight too
