Why are modern kamen rider design suck

1.) The designs have evolved beyond any recognition to the source material... Kyuranger somehow resembles a Sentai show, but Build could've been named "Android Kikaider Build" and no one would question it.

2.) A general problem of modern Toku: the heroes are nothing more but literally walking toy-ads now, at least in the 00's they were trying to make it less shamefully obvious.

I don't know, I quite like that one having not looked at it before. Not all the asymmetrical elements work for me, but I like the red shoulder fin at the very least and the suit isn't particularly ostentatious or overloaded with floppy parts. I certainly prefer it to Gaim or Ex-Aids aesthetic and think Wizard had a good general aesthetic too, even if the series was pretty dull. Ghost was okay, with nice general designs but the belt design was somewhat ruined by the belt being a bit too big and having an ugly opaque cob
Very along with coat being made out a rather ugly fabric. Fourze had the same issue with his outfit. The designs as a whole are okay, but some, including Build are quite nice to me.

Theres a difference between a Rider getting actual weapons for an upgrade as the show progresses and Rider getting some random collectible gimmick to access his 78th form. First one felt more subtle with the show in mind, latter one had was purely about selling crap to kids.

Every single aspect of tokusatsu (or any type of media, actually) evolves and changes, otherwise it becomes obsolete. I do have criticism about some modern rider designs (well hello there Ex-Aid), but after Ghost I think we all learned that a good suit design doesn't make it a good show. If you just like the looks, go buy action figures instead of judging the show just for how the rider suit looks like.

They're not backpeddling. They said themselves that more experimental designs do better sales-wise. We just came off an incredibly successful experimental design season, and Gaim was also incredibly successful.

I forgot where I read it, but one of the main producers on the franchise (think it was Kobayashi) mentioned they like to pair their more serious stories with the "experimental" design seasons for whatever reason, because it tends to turn out favourably for them. The toys are still bright and wacky to appeal to the kids, while the story/plot keeps their secondary adult audience in the mix for the year without losing too many of them over the wacko designs.

Sengoku driver is pretty close to perfect for my tastes. The ghost one grew on me slightly because I liked the eyecons, but i felt like the pully was very strange. I just dont care for the larger belts most of the time.

OOO is pretty much the last rider where I liked both the show itself and the gimmick and aesthetic of the show.

You want good suits then look no further than Ryuki suits. Ryuki have made this small trend where all the riders uses the same belt, of course each rider uses their own henshin object to separate themselves. But for the most part all suits have the same base.

I wish we had more survive suits, Knight was great while Ryuki was underwhelming.

Although Ex-Aid was relatively goofy with a goofy design, and now Build seems more serious with a serious design. Over the past few years though, the shows with the slicker designs have tended to be objectively worse than the shows with the goofier costumes (Ghost and Wizard come to mind), so I wonder if they account for that in their judgement

Super Rising Ultimate is an SIC design. Decade's Kuuga travels with them to Stranger's world, and when Kuuga is hit with a combo of Charged Stronger and OOOs Unagi electricity he powers up beyond Rising Ultimate. It's likely not a form he can reach again.

No there is no saying about the host of the stone will have to die in order to get to so-called "Ultimate".
There are 3 major points about this claim.
1) The symbols on the belt and from the catacomb only said the strongest of the Grongi will bring forth the black warrior that brings chaos (as in Ultimate Kuuga). The host will lost his or her sanity due to despair. It never said anything about killing the host and make it a living corpse. In Godai's case he didn't lose his sanity so he can be himself for whatever reason.
2) "Ultimate" Kuuga never happened in the past. Otherwise everybody on the Linto side would be very dead to make any studies on Kuuga itself.
3) The stone turns the host into a living weapon by evolving and reconstruction of materials. It is possible that as long as "Kuuga" is alive it can either change things and make use of them to its advantage, or to change itself to become a better war beast.

In the novel it mentioned if the host is willing to give up the desire to "fight" the stone will lose control of the host and eventually leaves the body. It's as simple as that.
So the stone feeds on the "desire" or the "will to fight", and provides the host with unlimited resources of wacky mods until he or she dies.
