Do you reckon getting experience for this role is why he got so much screen time in Amazons? Either his agency have high hopes for him or they've abandoned him to Toku hell.

It was an alright first episode. A fair bit of exposition but also some action. It's also nice to see another Rider who has been a rider since before the first episode.

I hope we get to explore the other regions past the wall.
It would be a waste after we get an explanation "this is this, that is that and this is that" we don't see them.
Its clear the south capital has to be one of the big south cities, the central capital is Tokyo but whats gonna be the north capital?

Outside of the first few minutes being nothing but a plot dump and the annoying hair thing Sento has, I really liked this episode. I hope the show carries on with this quality and doesn't drop off around episode 10.

You know with the whole "natural"/synthetic theme a lot of the bottles have, he could be the natural (biologist or something) counterpart to Sento's physics specialization.
He decides or is contracted to work for the "pacifist" Touto government to create Smash out of (framed) criminals, under the pretense that they can defend themselves from the outside threats Gentoku spoke of at the start. Then, ala Dr Maki, Nightrogue betrays Touto and uses the Smash army for his own means. Just my thoughts.

Not because I dislike Takaiwa but because new blood is always a good thing. It doesn't even have to be new, just give someone else some time in the spotlight. I want Rider to take a page out of Sentai's suit-acting book and make the suit actors fit the face actors' body language and other mannerisms a bit more. When I look at the last few main Riders, I don't feel the characters being brought out in the acting. I think the last series where I felt a connection between face actor and suit actor were W and Fourze. Shotaro felt like he actually was Double and Joker, and I could buy Gentaro being Fourze.

But I haven't been feeling that for a lot of the other recent shows. Build's the same, it just doesn't get through. And it is just a main Rider thing with Takaiwa, because a lot of the secondaries and tertiary Riders have done great jobs at linking the physical performances of the suit actors and the personalities of the face actors.

I think Takaiwa is still good, he does better when he maybe has more to work with personality wise. So I think his Build is pretty good so far. Ex-Aid and Emu always have a dissconnect because Emu doesn't have any particualar mannerism to play off of and he changes personalites when fighting, same with Takeru.

I'd put Wizard in there as well, actually. Not because the suit acting was bad, it was great. My problem is just that Wizard was too acrobatic and dynamic - I don't feel like it didn't fit Haruto's character. He was usually calm, subdued, sometimes a bit cheeky. Wizard's showmanship didn't fit the character he was out of the suit. The opposite goes for Kouta, where he was more acrobatic and physical out of the suit then in, but that's more or less the suit design's fault I guess.

So I don't only want to "blame" Takaiwa, because I feel like it's also the face actor's job to express their character's personalities. Which is why I brought up Shotaro and Gentaro, they both played the characters they had really well and "synced up" with Takaiwa.

I guess all I'm rambling about is that I want to see a connection between the main actor and Takaiwa.
