What's the big fucking deal with this movie again?
>>15817142
it's fun
>>15817149
>it's fun
I like the movie, think it's fun, and this post bothers me.
>>15817158
that's because it reminds you that fun is now so rare that it seems fishy.
>>15817142
Spics love it because one of their own directed it
>>15817142
All I know is that Obari fucking loves Pacific Rim
>>15817142
What's the big fucking deal with you not getting why it's a big fucking deal.
>>15817142
It introduced a lot of westerners to Mecha and Kaiju. Until then Mecha were always seen as weird japanese power fantsies, but suddenly they became American, Russian, Chinese and Aussie power fantasies too.
>>15817185
Does anyone have the Gypsy cameo in I think Getter?
>>15817142
It was an original (sort of) IP in a film industry that plays it safe with constant remakes and reboots.
The fact that the studio executives DIDN'T stick the title of some totally unrelated 80s anime on it for name recognition is remarkable.
It was decently entertaining, not quite as good as del toro's other films.
I don't know where people got this sudden mentality that it was the best mech moviewhen robot jox is
>>15817208
It's Mazinger Zero, where it shows up with the spirits of about twenty other famous giant robots to help Kouji stop Zero.
>>15817257
Forgot the picture.
>>15817261
Nice.
>>15817142
It was a big budget movie about big anime robots.
newfags and normies wanted to show how cultured and intelligent they were by comparing it to eva ad nauseam
>>15817142
>Live Action
>Giant Robots
>vs
>Giant Monsters
How many other live action giant robot movies are there, aside from Robot Jox? Also this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-zCQGA4fdY
You think he'll go back to see the Unicorn?
>>15817142
It was mediocre and the Asylum knockoff was somehow better.
>>15818302
There's being a contrarian, and then there's just having shit taste.
>>15817158
That's because you're autistic.
>>15817142
>What's the big fucking deal with this movie again?
Its the only live action movie to show realistic weight and movement of a 20+ meter mecha
None of that Michael Bay Transformers bullshit
They built a robot with a giant wrecking ball for a hand but didn't give it any shoulders.
It's the best live action mecha movie ever made.
It doesn't mean it's perfect, nor that you have to like it, but it's the best we have.
>>15820381
Provided that you haven't seen robot jox, crash and burn, and so on
>>15820515
Robot Jox is entertainig, but it's a bad movie for all intents and purpouses.
It's good the same way that Transformers G1 is good, it's just cheesy 80s fun. But if you compare it to something made today, it's pretty shitty,
>>15817340
And evafags were wrong as usual.
>>15817230
Shame delToro isn't part of the (inevitable) sequel.
>>15817142
Good main theme. Great visuals on the big screen. Plainly entertaining.
>>15817142
Giant robots fighting giant monsters on a giant screen with giant surround sound.Watched it twice in IMAX and no regrets
We got a modern, western, live-action Kaiju vs Mecha film finally. Unfortunately it was pretty cookie-cutter. I still enjoyed it.
>>15821915
Yeah you go introduce an entire genre to the rest of the world excluding Japan and make a storyboard for it. Let's see how much of a cookie cutter that will be when your career is on the line. Del Toro could do better, he rightly played it safe, PR did well enough and the hype surrounding the new movie is unreal. Mechs will take off after this and you'll see your Tomino's soon enough. Not that it will be for the better
It's fun, it's also not a remake or a reboot or some other entirely unoriginal shit.
Also Yoji Shinkawa did one hell of a cool poster for the Japanese release of it.
>>15824923
>the hype surrounding the new movie is unreal.
You're joking right? Not even mentioning this board where I'm sure everyone agrees it'll be a shitty trainwreck, I've seen no one even *mentioning* the new Pacific Rim ANYWHERE else on the internet, or even real life.
>>15827765
We got that poster in the US too. My theater was giving them away to everyone with a ticket when I saw it.
because it had Aryan Chad Australian super-technology representation
>>15817238
>Robot Jox
Fuck, my man. I need to rewatch that soon, the stop-motion does special things to me
