How do you fix AC stale gameplay?
>>
>>15816880
You put the franchise on ice until VFs become a thing in real life.
>>
>>15816880
You introduce energy and high AoA maneuvers to it. that's all it ever needed. Hell, war thunder only has energy laid down and retards still spend time on that shit. Imagine rotating your plane at low speeds with thrust vectoring...

That's dumb.

It should be flight envelopes, give every plane unique handling beyond the simplistic speed and mobility metrics used.

They're all playable in English so that would depend on what your favorite is, and pretty much all of them except Nine Breaker and V are someone's favorite. 4 and FA are the easiest to get into for casuals if that's what you mean.

fun, not the best or tired to be a sim, but I like it a lot back then.

I'd love to know what kind of cheese you were in on, AH was more a trial and error game where the CPU would blow your asshole out without warning for me.

Objectives were pretty much on HEY YOU'RE ABOUT TO FAIL THE OBJECTIVE the moment they popped into existence, there's an escort in one of the missions who'd die so easily you'd believe they were scripted to do so, and then there's nonsense like final Markov or the Trinity missile that you have to chase during its initial burn while the exhaust melts your plane because you are required to do the dumb cool thing.

I just want a good AC game. Really hoping they don't try to give us Assault Horizon again.
>>
>>15820004
There are good AC games. They're just not presented on PC, because fucking developers focusing on consoles.

I wish they would make the AC3,4, 5 and Zero remasters for PC.

And I hope that the developers would make something Crimson Skies-ish.
>>
>>15818649
Like it or not, stale is a valid descriptor. Very little changes about the games, at most a new feature sticks for like 2 games before getting lobotomized, save for secondary weapons and High G turns.

Change isn't needed for the sake of change, but at the same time it's hard to deny the games aren't at their core the same thing over and over again with some sort of gimmick thrown in to superficially differentiate them. Not only that, there's noticeable shortcomings with that core loop when applied to certain game modes: AC is practically an imbalanced clusterfuck by nature in multiplayer, yet there's this weird compulsion to include it, dating back quite a bit. Without reapproaching the concept of arcade jet combat from the ground up, AC MP will never work out the way it should.

Ultimately this is a problem for Namco to solve, unless you want to make such a game yourself in which case PLEASE TRY SOMETHING MORE CREATIVE THAN CLONING AC AND CALLING IT A TRIBUTE, YOU COULD BE DOING SO MUCH MORE THAN REINVENTING THE WHEEL HERE.

So much this

>spending development cycles on a multiplayer mode in a franchise where the pvp experience has been kusoge tier for nearly everything except every other round of capital conquest

Namco certainly thinks it's important. They made an entire f2p entry focused on multiplayer, and it unfortunately printed money for them.
>>
>>15820016
>remasters on PC
Jesus Christ I would pay good money for that. Fuck, I would even just take the actual games running on PC.
But no, all we get is Assault Horizon, which likely made the Japanese think "oh. I guess PC doesn't like AC".

>>
>>15820058
Doubt it.

Until not too long ago with UE4, Japan would see PC as a lost cause if it cost additional resources and cycles to target the platform. Sure if the publisher wants to foot the bill (if you account for AH being what it is because Bamco wanted the CoD money, then the pieces of their logic start to fall in place, I feel) then you could outsource the port, AH was done by slavs and runs insanely well on PC consequently, but in house wasn't really a thing unless the engine targeted PC from the getgo. Capcom comes to mind here, their MT and RE engines were aiming for PC, the former was in fact designed around the idea of downscaling from a master PC version of a given game, so every MT framework game was in fact a port of an internal PC build.

Now skip ahead to today where UE4 is one of the most popular engines and ACTUALLY HAS JAPANESE DOCUMENTATION, the results have been that so many moon games are getting simultaneous console and PC release, because it's trivial now to make a PC version and upload it to Steam, once you've cleared it with the publishers over who gets what and when.

Also before you get hyped over the idea of PS2 games getting ported, remember there's a fucking world of difference between emotion engine architecture and the average x86 rig, not to mention those games were designed with a particular controller in mind where nearly every one of its buttons were pressure sensitive. Zero plays like ass in emulation, even before you account for the visual glitches. You'd be better off asking they redo them within the AH/I engine or UE4.

The problem (if you want to call it that) is that there's not really a whole lot you can do to improve mechanically for AC, Project Aces has the arcade flight style down perfectly. The scenarios the player has to go through are what really separates each game from the next, like how 5 has more one-off gimmick missions or how Zero has a larger focus on taking on Ace squads. 7 is already marking its own identity by placing emphasis on cloud coverage, which is a great use of modern hardware by the way.

The weather system and VR are definitely the biggest advancements. I know some people hate VR, but its perfect for this kind of game. Pair that with a HOTAS and you're good to go.
>>
>>15821318
I think there's a lot of room to explore in making the aircraft roles more specialized, like introducing pure interceptors, or having the fighters play with significant difference (the F15 should corner best at full speed, for example, and the Typhoon should have a lockon time that speeds up the closer you are to represent its FLIR system, stuff like that...)

The cloud cover system might be a good addition but I suspect it'll be a one of, which would suck. I think the only other time it appeared was in like one stage of Sky Crawlers Innocent Aces, but as a primitive form of line of sight break.
>>
So many possibilitiea to expand and freshen up the ac experience, yet the devs choose not to

Dont be afraid, proj aces
>>
>>15821404
How would you do it?
>>15821395
I think the roles are fine as they are (fighters, attackers, multirole). Anything more would be a bit too complicated for a game like Ace Combat.
>>
>>15821433
I actually kinda want some more complexity, just fighting game up the game loo

>>15821458

The gameplay is fine though? Just as long as they go back to how 6 was and get away from the DFM nonsense. Six was the best game in the series.

The gameplay was great you faggot. All the planes felt like they had MASS and WEIGHT, and you couldn't fling them around like a toddler with his toy plane, like in Infinity or AH.
>>
>>15821489
>hating on maximum drift
>when 6 does the exact same thing

And it's funny you complain about baby toy shit when 6 is babysitting: the in flight movie.
>>
>>15821500
Not to the extent that AH and Infinity do.
Seriously, the flight model in AH and Infinity is way too light, and I felt like it was a bit too jerky. Also, AI in the two games after 6 will literally eat physics for dinner and shit out kulbits. You don't know bullshit until a Foxbat turns around and fires missiles backwards at you, and then turns back to its former position and zoom away like the Super Sylph from Yukikaze.

Sucks being a nugget with only one level 10+ plane.
>>
>>15821517
That's just Infinity being badly balanced.

But 6 tells physics to fuck off pretty raw with how you can hold out high G in that game whereas AH/I only lets you pump high G.

Besides I could guarantee 6 still has enemy planes flying through the ground somewhere, it happens every game.

>>15821579
Yeah, the flares in Assault Horizon were literally only useful for the bomber mission.
I wonder how they'll balance out the flares with the traditional gameplay of AC where most missiles could be simply avoided by pulling a turn at just the right time. Maybe some enemies will also carry spam cans of AIM-120's?
>>
>>15821590
Massive buff to missiles maybe?

Cloud cover also gives a bit of a safety net to pull a reverse AH and emphasize BVR when out of cover.
>>
>>15821395
>F15C: VMAX - acceleration and max velocity increases for a set time, take damage over time but never exceed 90%

>F35: tactical data link - targets visible to wingmates are visible to you and can be locked onto from extended range.

>F117: Air Strike Mode v2 - plots an optimized bombing route and buffs reload times after filling a Close Range Assault meter

>F14: Phoenix - radar range and lock ranges greatly enhanced, but cannot identify the target with IFF at such ranges

>F22: Dog Fight Mode v2 - enhanced target management allows for the pilot to focus on shooting down aerial targets in an efficient manner, allowing them to chain kills via enhanced reload speeds and incredible maneuvering; meter ability, requires downing targets to build up a DFM meter. Autopilot functions are disabled during this time, so the pilot must make their own course corrections.

I was thinking you could use the CRA button input to actually activate a super mode for each plane based in some fashion on their real world capabilities.

Though, that probably means the Raptor should actually have an AESA jamming beam ability instead.

I wonder if 7 will have dual audio? The English voice acting in the series has been less than stellar.
>>
>>15823734
Probably. The last game in the series (Infinity) had dual audio, so I don't see why they'd change.
That said, the voice acting in 7 seems fine.
>>
>>15823734
It probably will, though you've got some shit taste if you think the AC dubs are bad.
>>
>>15823744
AH also had multiple audio tracks, though I think only PC lets you reliably dual audio your way through moon and burger without playing a Japanese copy.

I mean, there's a certain novelty to playing the game German dubbed.

5 was also dual audio but it's clear they timed captions to the English dub rather than having subtitles proper so it feels real janky when set to Japanese.

HUD is silly, it makes you the plane. Cockpit is you flying the plane, and 3rd person is you checking out the engines you perv.
>>

>it makes you the plane

Don't see the problem. Moreover, quite often in AC you literally are the plane.
>>
>>15823852
HUD view works if you think it's like HMD
>>
The gameplay won't change until they make missiles actually able to hit the player and not be avoidable by just pulling a hard turn in any random direction when it's nearby.
It doesn't have to be DCS. Just make missiles more dangerous to the player and give them more mechanics to interact with.
