How much does Gundam cost in comparison? Also, didn't Zaku Is pants a whole bunch of them in Origin?

Origin guncannon =/= regular guncannon. In origin, the guncannon is a POS due to not having professor minovsky involved and AE basically taking over the project from Tem. AE fucked up and misunderstood the role that MS would play on the battlefield and built them cheap, and as a result they were weaker than the zaku I.

In the regular series they were made as part of project V and were much better than what Zeon was fielding at the time.

IIRC in the manga it has a fusion reactor, just a really shitty underpowered one made by Tem on a stricter time limit trying to imitate professor minovsky. Which is why he pushed so hard for the EF to try and get professor minovsky to defect so that their machines could benefit from better reactors than he could currently make.

They were glorified artillery. Even within the new Origin timeline they didn't start testing a close range general purpose type until after the initial models were fielded. Those general purpose prototypes were a testbed for the tech that would later go into the Gundam.

But Origin's timeline is all fucked up anyway. The show has the most correct and sensible timeline since they were being chased by Garma's forces in NA and Ramba Ral as they were exiting the NA continent, which puts the globe trotting into perspective. The trek across NA is questionable in Origin and the movies. Origin only makes sense of it by somehow retconning Mexico or Southern California into federation territory so they skip Asia IIRC. The movies just straight up jumble up events without any context and despite the fact that the G-fighter doesn't get referenced at all in CCA or Unicorn the movies arrangement of events make no sense when you sit down and consider the events as they're shown to us, and worse it doesn't even provide context to make sense of the changes.

Why are Guncannon pilots so mean?

If they make an Origin anime they'll probably change it to put the original Guncannon and Guntank back into the show as brand new models that are superior to Zakus

The Guncannon in the manga was barely better than the first types. They were junk used for target practice and shit

The way I saw it, the early Guntank and Guncannons were the equivalent of the pre-ww2 tank designs, like the Char B1 or the soviet multi turret designs. While being well armoured and armed, they lacked the proper organisation. They also tried to do too much at once, and while the designs were refined later on with the M3 Grant, they were still less versatile than the German Pz. 3, which was less well armoured and armed initially, but the doctrine and tactics used made it a more succesful design. Which ended up being upgraded and improved throughout the entire war.

The newest Guncannon is a Ground Type model in the same vein as the 08th MS Team RX-79. This MS made its debut in the Rise from the Ashes manga and is equipped with a beam dagger.

The 240mm cannon with a high firing rate is a bit overpowered. Of course, it was super robot tier in 1979.

No game gave the 240mm cannon a high firing rate, the highest was probably the one in Fed vs Zeon.

I think the real robot version of the Guncannon in 2000 PS2/MG era was vastly different from the 1979 anime one. Though, this HGUC Revive kit is trying to link both eras together.

The Heavy type is good on forest and hills, while the Guncannon II is good on ice fields.

Most of these thick leg guys including the GM Cannon are good on desert too, unlike the GM.

You mean Jaburo in South America? So Cal is definitely Zeon turf, though there are anti-zeon partisans in the region.

No, I mean when Amuro goes to visit his hometown somewhere in SoCal or Mexico Sayla says it's right on the border of Zeon and Feddie territory. In the show NA is just straight up Zeon territory and they have feelers out further. Jaburo's only EFF territory because it's hidden so well and fortified and no one could find safe entrances without deep combing like Char and the Mad Angler team did. Origin makes it seem like the federation is just containing Zeon on Earth though side stories and setting guides say Zeon took over basically all of the major NA bases, including the California one.
