I say this a lot on /v/ threads but I almost wouldn't mind them shoehorning a canonical choice if they didn't try to pretend our options matter and then turn around and have Rean and Alisa bond under a starry Nord sky anyways or have quiet alone time in the RF penthouse suite.

They want her to be the main heroine? Whatever, I don't like her but whatever. The big problem comes when all the other girls are stuck being potential love interests and because of that are basically denied forming relationships with other characters because at some point every game had to be come part dating sim and only the MC self insert is allowed to have waifus.

It's not such a huge deal because romance in the games is a very minor subplot but it would probably be a lot stronger a narrative if instead of leaving so many variables that lock characters relationships they just had Rean hook up with one girl, doesn't matter who and let the other characters develop internal relationships. Maybe Elliot would be better at teaching Laura how to be more feminine whole she inspires him to grow a pair as an example.

I bring up games like Lunar as an example because it's an easy one to point too. The romance in those games aren't anything especially original or even all that clever but in Silver Star every character in the party gets a romantic partner that develops over the course of the game. In fact the main characters is probably the weakest of the bunch truth told but it gives the characters all something to work with. It makes them feel human. If the game was made today none of the other girls would hook up with anyone unless they where an option for the hero and at best the other dudes might ask who you're into and then compliment your taste.

I actually like the Cold Steel games and it's character's a lot but this is one big point I have them. I guess it's still a fuck load better than how Persona handles it though.

Same. CS has some fun and interesting characters, but every love interest added means either adding more dialogue trees and interactions if you want to make them feel equally valid, or devoting the most to one character and just giving lip service to the rest. CS clearly does more of the latter. What's disappointing is that some previous games clearly understood that, and DID make have the focus set on a canon choice instead of complicating things.

Like, TitS didn't pretend that Estelle could romance Olivier, Agate, Zane, Kevin, Kloe, Anelace, basically anyone BUT Joshua. And it was better off for it, keeping things focused and the writing a bit tighter. It's just kind of a shame. If they are going to write Alisa as the canon route, they'd be better off just focusing on that and not pretending all the other choices make much of an impact.

Honestly how romance is handled nowdays is due to market trends, I think they did say in some interview while ago that they really can't do Estelle x Joshua like thing anymore.
Although looking at Sen3 they atleast seem to be taking bit more old look from Sora trilogy as from the material it really seems that Yuna x Kurt is supposed to be a thing instead of Yuuna x Rean, same for Ash x the slut even when the slut clearly tries to get in Reans pants but I don't really see Rean having any interest in her. This too is kinda reinforced by us having Agate and Tita there, and well Randy and Tio too to some extend even though that is different kind of relationship.

The ps3 emulator doesn't play it without issues. OpenGL gets black textures/fails to load textures if write color buffers isn't on. With it on my fps drops to 5ish in Ymir. It is 20 with it off. Vulkan is even slower.

You also have to deal with the shitty dub if you can't find an undub. I haven't found one yet so I went into the options and turned all voice volume to 0. I don't know about Vita emulation but I haven't heard of one.

I do hope they really expand her take on whole story in CS3 though. Legram and the castle there were easily my most favourite and interesting locations in both CS1 and 2, but we were barely told anything about the castle and possible Divine Knight inside it.

Its interesting to see how Laura and Arseids are connected to Stahlritter in CS3. We already know that both Duvalie and Ines from them are interested about Arseids.
