There's the occasional robot showing up as a parody or gag, and a small appearance of a robot character known as Eight, but the vast majority of the series has no robots or mecha whatsoever.

usually, when I watch a show, I don't pay any attention to the fanbase. Seriously, why let a bunch of people you will never meet decide for you how much you will enjoy a show?

I mean, if you read or hear a review by someone with an informed taste, and they can give you some good reasons why a show is good or bad, that is useful. it is sometimes helpful to have a guide through experiences, especially those you are unfamiliar with. I can help you understand what to look for in a show, or how to understand the levels the show works on.

its weird: I keep hearing about how Aldnoah is bad, but then people are constantly talking about it or referring to it. maybe because its one of the few mecha shows on Netflix? anyway, I watched the first few episodes, and i think its pretty good. I understand it falls apart, later. then again, I think nearly every show does that

you are mostly right. a show that heavily features robots is just a Drama/Comedy/Roadtrip/whatever show that features robots.

but, some shows put the machines closer to the focus of the story than others. Shows like Rideback, Macross, or Eureka 7 will make the machines silent characters who have as much impact on the atmosphere of the show as the speaking characters. They are part of the setting, but the setting has a definite impact on the feel of the show, even if is has no impact on the plot
