No, useless would have been if she'd gone "grr no I don't need your stupid help" and tried to solo the Bugsters herself while needing to be saved over and over. She knew she was too weak to handle the Bugsters on her own, so she let Taiga do what he was good at and do the heavy lifting so that she could help them get the task done that they needed to get done. The only Gashatrophies that she didn't get legitimately were Loverica's, Poppy's, Parado's and the one Hiiro got.

It's definitely not as good of a role as I'd like from a proper female Rider, but it was still a step up from Necrom P or Mage.

Grunts in later series are often shown to be almost robots, breaking apart in metallic pieces, but in some later episodes of the original Rider when some monsters drag combatmen into the water and horribly kill them, there's just a lot of blood.

Note that Taki is beaten by them sometimes too though.

It's not like the Shcoker cyborgs don't have a lot of that either though. There was that one episode where one of the kaijin stabbed Hongou's leg with his horn (I think it may have been a rhino guy but I don't quite remember) and he also just bled profusely, even though he was in Rider form.

It's peculiar because he was later checked out by a doctor who apparently didn't notice anything weird about him beyond how he was hurt.

The way the original series portrays the altered humans/cyborgs is a bit odd in that regard, they're supposed to be cyborgs but appear organic in many ways. I think later series with cyborgs like X, Stronger and Super-1 did a better job driving in the point that they were mechanically altered, while the original series didn't make it anywhere near as explicit.

I finally got around to watching episodes 37-44. Holy fuck what a ride. Poppy's death felt like an asspull, but that's my only real complaint. The conclusions to Hiiro's arc, Graphite's arc, and the matter of Parad's emotions were all really well done. I also wish Hyper Muteki got some more time to shine going hand to hand, but it's seems like they really tried their hardest to cram as much plot into the season as possible.
