***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions, as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here!
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

== THICK MS GROUPBUILD ==

Build a kit of your choice that's heavily armored, and thick in the thighs/arms/torso/general area. Examples include:
>Dom + Dom Variants
>The O
>Virtue/Seravee Gundams
>Gusion/Man Rodis
>Full Armor gundams (If they're heavily armored, and not guns strapped everywhere like the FA Unicorn)

Non-Bandai kits are allowed, so feel free to whip out a Frame Arms kit or something and work with that as long as you make it thicc as fuck.

Start Date: 6/15
End Date: 8/31

>>
>>15795282
Good choice either way. Also If you even want to build the Tallgeese, but budget restricts you, then you might want to look at the Dragon Momoko one. The DM one is cheaper, but has some issues. Most of those can be fixed by painting it and using plastic cement on some pieces, so I really would advise you not to snap build it. There is a picture of one in the previous thread if you want to see how it compares to the Bandai one.

No risk, you can seam weld without worry. Just be careful not to let the cement get everywhere or else you will have to sand off surface problems from the plastic getting messy.

To anyone who has both RG Sinanju and MG Unicorn, is the former as prone to parts falling off as the latter?

I ask because if I'm getting an RG Unicorn, there's no question it'll look best posed next to a 1/144 Sinanju.

I have the Unicorn in MG OVA (not really fond of it) and PG (love it), and though I'm not exactly wanting for the RG, I'm interested in getting it just to see how good it really is.
Everyone on the net who has it, West or East, seems to have nothing but praise for it.
>>
>>15795663
everyone knows the MGs a brick, the RG unicorn is solid, that's why its praised. by multiple folks.
>>
> buy Dragon Momoko Avalanche Exia at store

FUCK. They list all of the runners on the parts checklist on the first page, but somehow forgot to mention that it comes with a sheet of decals. This is my first DM kit too. Perfect. Now I have to go back to the store and hope that they'll offer me a replacement.

To be fair, the plastic quality is pretty good. The white and blue parts are almost near Bandai in terms of molding quality.

Yea. I'm going back first thing tomorrow morning.

The surface details are surprisingly crisp. I think if you painted this properly, it'd be practically indistinguishable from Bandai's Metal Build. sinanju compare1.jpg
272KB, 1400x1237px
So I've completed the sinanju that came with the neo zeong. This probably won't come as a surprise to anyone here but the HG sinanju is better than the RG sinanju in almost every way with the exception of having stickers instead of chromed rim parts.

It was more fun to build, the kit is much more solid and posable unlike the RG which is a wibbly wobbly jelly kit. The legs look nicer and don't have the rather conspicuous massive leg gap and the shield is much more secure. I will note that the neo zeong sinanju does not come with beam effect parts for the beam sabers and beam hawks whos handles do still come on the sprue so you only get the two zeong bazookas and the long rifle for armaments.

>>
>>15796984

Stickers. The RG is better in every way except stability.
>>
>>15796992
The RG shield is pretty bad at holding together, holding to the arm, and bearing all the weight when fully kitted out. Mind you I can't fully kit the HG shield since I'm missing the beam effects but it feels much more solid regardless.
>>
I was entertaining the idea of posting my progress as the construction of the neo zeong begins but I've never done a 'build' before preferring to just photograph the finished kits. Should I just snap a picture every time I finish a chunk of the model?
>>
>>15797062
If you want. I usually do it by sections of body+head, arms, legs, backpack+weapons.

It's a great kit. Solid 8/10. However, the absolutely huge seam lines right down the middle of the shoulder armor, forearms, and sturm booster you absolutely need to fix.

Unfortunately as well the giant vents on the arms make posing at all with the gun a pain in the ass because it is always in the way. If you fuck with it enough you can get a good pose though.

I can't be mad at it too much because the sturm booster looks cool as fuck and adds so much presence to the kit that many other kit's don't have without some kind of extra backpack kit.

While I can't say I fully enjoyed building the kit, I can say it does look fucking amazing. Sadly it just doesn't fit into the lightbox, so a picture in the display case will have to do. The gold plating makes all the parts super stiff making the transformation annoying to do, also makes putting some of the part together a nightmare.

But the end result is grand, the undergating helps that little bit more. Hope they come out with a RG Phenex so I can display them together.
>>

Damn, not I wanna get the MG Phenex, because fuck the cost of the PG. I wonder if the Daban one is compatible with the LED kit

>>15797813
Yeah, Especially old stuff, the MG GP03 was kinda expensive
>>
>>15797949
>>15797813
Its based on availability. Remember that after Bandai prints so many kits of one type, they destroy the line and literally stop making sprues for the kit. P-Bandai and Limited Editions are particularly bad about this
>>
>>15797986
but it's like a universal increase, like the 1/100 Graze went up to $25, the Barbatos is $30, the Sazabi ver Ka is over $110. And it's seemingly goes up for no reason, I check frequently and prices randomly go up, down slightly for a day, and then back up, all under the same sellers Amazon or not

>Cool your autism
I suggest you take a look at your own post and compare that to the other anon's. You are the one completely losing your shit, not him.

>>15798088
As has been said by others, you really should clean up nub marks. They looks terrible and they just make it seem like you didn't put in any work at all or didn't even care about it. They just stand out like a sore tumb and considering how little work it is to remove them it really is a waste. I'm sure you yourself don't like how that looks either.

If you don't care about that, that's fine, but don't expect any kind words from people on this board. /gpg/ can be full of trolls and assholes, but even here there is a low bar of standards. Not removing nub marks is below that bar. If you don't know how here's a guide.

So, anons, a new Real Grade is supposed to be announced at C3 AFA Tokyo around the 26th.

What's your bet on it, /gpg/?

>RG Blue Frame Second L

It would fit better with the standard release model of same universe/series that the RG line has. Would also be popular for SEED Astray fans.

>RG Banshee

While it would break the mold of waiting by at least one kit to do another of shared frame or universe kit, it wouldn't be a bad move either. Especially with the hype and quality to back it up of the RG Unicorn.

>RG Star Build Strike

Fits perfect with the release of the new OVA featuring the BF season one cast as well as Build Fighters World for GBT and also fits the mold of releases.

>RG Hyaku Shiki

>>15798529
It's a good kit, but I honestly prefer the HG just because that one's slightly more stable.
>>
>>15798935
Vidar, Sinanju, and Barbatos Lupus will all need paint to look good. Go for Guntank for the sake of simplicity.

maybe some tape in that area could help, but the kit by itself has weight issues with that thing
the rifle is also a nightmare to make the kit hold it properly due to its fucking size

You do realize this is model building, right? As OCD as some posters on here are, I've never seen anyone as half as bad as the people that do military vehicle models.

I want it for my Graze Ritter so it can hold it's open hand against the blade of the sword to brace it midstrike. It looks stupid trying to apply pressure to the top of the blade with a closed fist.

Anytime my man, one of the really nice things about senor astray is that he has a really solid range of motion, he can emulate some pretty dynamic poses based on what you want. Mine is kind of basic but I've posed him like this because I really like how it all comes together in regards to the mechanics of the kit. Experiment till you drop though, I'm sure you'll find a pose that really sells you on it.

Did you paint this a different red? Looks significantly better than what is shown on amazon.
>>
>>15798157
The 00 HGs start kinda crappy and get better as they go along. The Flag is hilariously stiff, but by the time you get the movie and the Brave kit it's godly. Masurao's no slouch.
>>
I haven't tried this, but what happens if you paint a part and top coat it without priming it? Like acrylic paint with a lacquer top coat?
>>
>>15800266
Uh... Yeah, so the lacquer topcoat will most likely partially (or severely) dissolve the acrylic paint. And the paint will be weaker because there is no primer for it to hold on to.
>>
>>15800057
And he was arguing that the people in the detail oriented hobby of gunpla aren't half as bad as the people in the detail oriented hobby of military modelling. It's an argument against calling the people in the hobby and these threads "toxic". What's so hard to understand?

If these threads are toxic to you, you've never seen toxic.

>>15800091
Still don't know who that is or why I should even care.
>>
To anyone who's painted a Frame Arms Girl kit: what kind of finish do you do for the skin parts? I feel matte would look off, but I don't think gloss would work well either.
>>
>>15800488
Try satin, it's a mix of the two
>>
>>15800501
How does that look?
>>
>>15799382
>Future is useful because it self levels, and by mixing it with Tamiya Flat Base it will become flatter so you can make it be gloss or flat.

But Future yellows out in time regardless of light exposure, doesn't it?
>>
>>15800369
>If these threads are toxic to you, you've never seen toxic.

Where can I see some nice examples of military modelling toxic behavior?
>>
>>15800697
I never argued that military modellers were toxic. Heck, in my random popping into forums I've not seen toxic behavior. I'm pointing out that if you think the gunpla threads are toxic you should check out some of the threads on some other boards or on the internet at large to get a proper sense of perspective.

Get it together, OP.

It needs more detail. General shape seems fine so far.

Of course they are anon, any kind of plamo is welcome.
The shape looks good so far, although considering the power of the rifles and the fact that she's dual wielding them have you considered maybe a belt-fed solution for munitions?
>>
>>15802261
still undecided, was planning on keeping the look of an anti tank rifle, so the large magazine on the top and a handle on the bottoms so she can carry it traditional style. not sure/confident in a belt fed munition unless i buy option parts

Matte finish gives me goosebumps and feels like sandpaper.
