The animation is concerning, though there's still potential for Planet of Monsters. Hopefully we'll actually get to see fan favorite characters and they'll exploit the medium to the fullest to show us things the previous haven't. Godzilla will probably have more mobility in the actual films. We only saw him briefly in the latest trailer.

I'm just glad to be an adult and able to watch new Godzilla movies I look forward to Legendary series, any shin sequels or new Japanese movies, and anime Godzilla. With pacific rim and Kong Skull Island, I have high hopes for the future of Kaiju/ Giant monster movies.

Honestly they're both Monkey's Paws so far. 2014 Godzilla was one of the most disappointing movies in a while, and the CGI anime and crappy Godzilla design are not good signs.

Finally saw Skull Island. Was in no real hurry to see it, the trailers just didn't grab me. Man I feel like a fool. I had no idea how many leaps and bounds it had over Godzilla 2014. The movie was thuroughly exciting, kept you interested throughout and goddamn, so many glorious day time action sequences. I can't tell you how tired I am of murky night time scenes for the sake of cheaper CG. And despite the Skull Crawlers and Kong not having any real crazy abilities like the Mutos and Godzilla, the fight scenes were top notch.
Absolutely loved all the awesome creatures, Kong included and it was surprisingly funny at times. I really wish it was converging with a better Godzilla movie for the crossover. 2014 had me fairly disinterested for most of the film while I was on board for the entirety of Skull Island.

Terror of MechaGodzilla actually made less. Only one on this list that hurts me is Biollante. Although it has apparently made a resurgence in the last couple of years and is viewed favorably by Japanese Godzilla fans.

You could make that argument for Final Wars if it weren't for the negative critical reception. But Megalon? Vs Gigan and Vs MechaGodzilla are two of the most successful films of that period. Look at how much Vs Megalon dips between those two movies. Terror of MechaGodzilla suffered from the energy crisis.

It was inconclusive. I recommend reading "Japan's favorite Mon-Star" People often assume that in Japan Kong was a hero and Godzilla a villain but in reality they were fond of both monsters. Therefore the movie ends suddenly and we don't even see what happens after they fall into ocean. In the Japanese version you hear roars of both monsters. In every other movie the outcome is always clear but in KKvsG Godzilla is winning for a bit then Kong gets a power up they wrestle and fall. Into Godzilla's domain. If he hit his head we don't see it.

Apparently someone (Tanaka?) said that Kong won but people at Toho disagree about everything including Godzilla's gender and I'm only interested in what's going on in the movie. If you need a guide after the movie is over it's ambiguous to me. All crossover movie up to that point ended like this.

After watching Death Note, I expect Godzilla vs Kong to be another disposable flick. It'll have some interesting visuals and there's the novelty of seeing the title characters duke it out in CGI, however, other than that expectations are low. Unless Godzilla 2 manages to deliver, this disappointment of a cinematic universe will have peaked with Skull Island.
