>A child drops a precious item during the midst of a crisis to serve as a reminder of their lost innocence
>>15783903
>cgi anime
dropped
The animation sure is some janky Sidonia-tier stuff, which is bizarre for a movie.
>>15783903
So we do know it's Earth going in right? Because I swear if they try to pretend it's not and then pull some Planet of the Apes shit
>>15783934
We know it's earth. Mankind abandoned earth because monsters and returns some hundreds of years later to find monsters just got bigger.
Looks like shit and Urobutcher's self-indulgent garbage excuse for a story dragged agonizingly over three fucking movies is going to put Godzilla back in the grave
This setting is the kind of stupid shit I was worried Anno was gonna do with his movie. I'm glad he ended up playing it straight.
>>15783924
Yeah, visually this looks absolutely Knights of Sidonia inspired.
eh, godzilla looks kinda cool. thats about it though
>>15783969
Does he have eyes or are replaced by a sort of glowing "visor" array?
>>15783972
Facial surfaces lit by flames/explosions below Godzilla?
>>15783903
what a fatty
Konjirra! Konjirra!
>>15783972
Definitely has eyes.
Neat
>>15783903
I'm looking forward to this more as a sci-fi movie than as a Godzilla movie.
>>15783903
>It's Burgerzilla
I'm okay with this.
I really can't see the premise/setting stretching out well for three films. We all know all this sci-fi technology (mecha included) will be completely innefectual.
>anime Godzilla is fatter than 2014 Fatzilla
>Urobuchi
All the monsters on Earth are former humans who mutated due to Godzilla cells or something and the main characters will all go "nooooooo we've been killing peeeooooople all aloooong" "we're the real monsteeeers".
>Said to be the Biggest Godzilla to date.
>Only about 119 meters
>>15784044It's not the actual Godzilla. The original isthe whole planet

Same studio
>>15784086
You'd think that they would get dudes who can do high quality 3D anime like Sanzigen or Orange for a high budgetlolmovie.
Oh god another 5fps Polygon pictures stutterfest.
Not even SVP can get that shit running smooth.
>>15783903
at this point i dont even care about CGI.
now lets see if they can portray a good story with it
Aw there's no slowmo kungfu like Final Wars.
plot twist : it's human all along
>>15784166
obligatory "what makes us humans a 'human'" narrative
This doesn't look good.
I hope we could at least get a nice sci-fi flick out of it, and most importantly, that we will still get live action godzilla's after that.
>>15784145
context ?
As a huge godzilla fan I should welcome the change but I am having huge problems with pretty much everything right now.

>>15784228
Kemono Friends is a CG anime that aired earlier this year that looks like bootleg Video Brinquedo but had a great story and characters and is probably the biggest and most successful anime in Japan this year.
tl;dr it doesn't matter how shit something looks; if you have a good story to back it up then it'll be worth it in the end, which is what anon (and I) hope will happen with Butcherzilla. This being Butcher of course, I can't say I'm too hopeful.
>>15784303
>great story and characters
LMAO It's literally Japanese mlp
Aside from the cringy anime stuff and what it has to do with Godzilla, it looks pretty good.
>>15784064
N-NOT muh GODZILLA
Funny how you fucks have to come out whenever anything Godzilla is mentioned, the Shin Godzilla thread and this one
>>15784394
From what we've seen this is a generic anime sci-fi story featuring a literal wooden Garregoji and some gargoyles, the synopsis sounds like it has fuckall to do with Godzilla and the monsters and is probably just Urobutcher's insecure hissy fit because Anno outdid him first. That's why HIS Godzilla is biiiigeeer and meeaaaner and killed the six million poor humans + the protag's parents (and this is made to sound like it was done deliberately like Inigo Montoya's fucking father being killed) and is 20K years old and is merged with the planet. The guy is so desperate to outdo Anno he's willingly creating a trainwreck.
>>15784385
No, that's Precure.
>>15784394
I was defending Shin as a legit godzilla entry, and obviously this trilogy is named "godzilla" so this is not really up to debate.
But I'm worried that those film will be more about "muh humans are the real monsters" rather than the traditionnal themes of the Godzilla's films.
Of course the whole post-apocalyptic earth would nicely fit the anti-nuclear and the pacifism we are used to in the franchise, so it could be faithfull.
I'm more affraid that this anon is right tho >>15784420
>>15783916
>Urobutcher

Really makes you think.
>>15783903
>Dude Fire Emblem Lmao
Into the trash
Im hopeful, though im sure it will have a dumb plot twist, like Godzilla is a literal God, or even dumber and most likely, The planet IS Godzilla.
>>15783903
>Godzilla is so big now he barely moves
>CGI anime
Man, what a disappointment. I was hyped.
>>15784756
>The movie goes full animu with some retarded existential plot twist.
>Ends with another hokey "What makes us human" speech
Kill me
>>15784808
The cgi complaint is 100% understandable, but I would assume Godzilla not moving alot is because it's just a trailer and they dont want to show off Godzilla too much yet. Only time will tell though
I haven't watched much to do with this yet, please tell me they've got better mechs than the Tachi equivalents and we're gonna get some kind of knock-off Super Robot duking it out with Godzilla.
>>15784756
according to the website Godzilla is a hyper-evolving plant/earth-based lifeform
>>15784968
>hyper-evolving plant/earth-based lifeform
We Gaim now
>>15784420
Anigodzi started production a little bit after Shin's conception stage, Urobuchi even read the script while they were filming. He only agreed to do it, after what the Producer told him they're planning for Shin and how Anigodzi should be as exaggerated as possible, something that can't be done in a Toku.
>>15783991
no maser, no buy
>歴代最大となる膨大な質量を支える独特な体組織は、金属に極めて酷似した筋繊維の集積体で強い電磁気を発生させる特性を持つ。
さらに、地球の生命淘汰の果て、「植物」を起源に持つ超進化生命体として二万年の永き時を生きながらえた。
>The unique body tissue that supports the enormous mass for the largest Godzilla to date has the ability to generate strong electromagnetism because of his muscle fibers that strongly resemble metal.
Furthermore, as a result of natural selection on earth it continued to survive for 20,000 years as a super evolutionary life-form that originated from plants.
I don't exactly get what's happening but there is no way this won't turned out to be anime kino, you just have to think of it as a anime Godzilla instead of our beloved Tokusatsu Godzilla.
Shame about the ugly CGI though.
>>15783903
Wow that is too much human jibbering.
While I'm not entirely sold on this vision yet, I hope it's good as they've already committed to a trilogy of it. I at least applaud Toho for seeking out talent and seemingly trying to avoid the issues that plagued the previous two eras. Our protagonist is a Eren Yeager clone tho.
>>15784385
Someone's mad KF outsold their favorite anime
>>15784813
"Maybe there's a little Godzilla in all of us"
>>15784248
And the same CGI style animation as the Netflix BLAME! movie. I surprisingly kinda liked the Netflix BLAME! movie (nowhere on par with the manga, I know), so I'll probably check this out too.
OH NOO NO NO NO NAAH HAHAAAAHAAA HAAAAAAAA HA HA HA HA HA HA

What leads you to that conclusion?
>>15788543
>literally a blue godzilla 2014 with shin's skin texture and fucking kangaroo legs
GENIUS
Would anyone prefer this design?
>>15788781
Yes, actually. This anime's Godzilla is supposed to have such a raging hateboner for humanity that he hunted the last vestiges of human civilization down until humans fucked off into space. Blue Fatzilla just looks even more chill than 2014 Fatzilla, not to mention that he doesn't even move in the trailer.
I can tell what shit this is going to be.
Godzilla is rage filled and violent when mankind flees the planet but when they return 20K years later he's isolated and peaceful but mankind still instigates war with him so we get 'oh wooow we bothrgn godzila :(' and mankind is the real bad guy
>>15788811
>Implying mankind isn't the badguy
Do you sympathize with ants if your house was infested with them?
Thoughts on our protagonist?
>>15788543
>Someone approved this design.
>Someone looked at this and said "YES! THIS IS THE ANIME GODZILLA!".
>People will defend this by using Shin as their example, despite that the fact that Shin is supposed to look grotesque and warped.
>>15788950
The idea is this Godzilla's a weird electromagnetic tree beast. Warped texture's evoking vines and branches.
>>15788543
Looks better from the side
>>15788831
>Generic anime look.
Check.
>A young man who's only characteristic is being mopey, gloomy, and a burning passion for "Revenge".
Check.
>Has a tragic backstory where as a child he lost everything he loved, including something that meant a lot to him.
Check.
>Despite his young age and possible lack of experience and or has trained for 10+ years in order to exact revenge on what took everything away from him, is put on a dangerous mission for "reasons".
Check.
I hate him already!
>>15788543
Godzilla get ye gone!
>>15788964
>"The idea is this Godzilla's a weird electromagnetic tree beast. Warped texture's evoking vines and branches."
So not only did they see Shin Godzilla and go "Man, we can top that!", followed by an agreement on a shitty design?
>>15788950
>>15788964
> "Godzilla is the largest life form ever recorded and possesses unique body tissue integrated with metal-like muscle fibers, which can generate a strong electromagnetic charge, to support his massive weight. The end result of natural selection on Earth, he originated from plant-based life and has gone on to survive 20,000 long years as a super-evolved living organism."
This is what Urobuchi came up with when Toho asked him to write a Godzilla movie?
>>15789025
>Simple Godzilla movie concept done in Anime form?
"Nope."
>A Godzilla movie concept, but with a monster that couldn't be done or would be hard to do with CG or traditional methods?
"Nope."
>We take Kamen Rider Gaim, mix it with Godzilla, and set it 20,000 years in the future?
"THIS!"
Honestly if there was at least a little passion behind it I could forgive it, but this keeps getting worse each time I hear and see more of it.
>>15789035
I expect something Expelled from Paradise or BLAME tier. Nothing awful or amazing. Simply competent with a few ideas they could have made better use of.
>>15788543

He's the only thing I don't get about the movie because it's the type of character that Urobuchi wouldn't make as MC. All the other characters however are the usual uro archetypes.
>>15789035
>Honestly if there was at least a little passion behind it I could forgive it, but this keeps getting worse each time I hear and see more of it.
Pretty much everything they showed so far gives me worry, the only thing keeping me hopeful is the passion urobutcher has for this project. If you follow the behind the scenes interviews, he made a pretty huge effort with this anime.
>>15788630
Is this long enough for your, senpai?
>>15788987
Even better.
This is like Godzilla raids again, he can look from complete shit or one of the best designs ever depending purely on angle.

One race is a religious order, the other are a bunch of stoic skeptics who tend to replace their internal organs with artificial organs.

This.
We space Altmer now.
Why don't they use traditional 2d animation for the human characters? This 3d stuff gives off too much uncanny valley vibes. The kaiju animation looks decent though.
>>15790472
its cheaper
>>15790414
>>15790404
Scifi Japan's recent article explicitly mention the Xiliens by name.
>>15784063
Are you just pulling my leg here Anon? Because a planet sized Godzilla would be amazing.
>>15790472
Because CGI is continually evolving. The more money they keep dumping into trying things out and learning how to improve it, the better it will look in the future.
Maybe Planet of the Monsters is something of a spiritual successor of Shin Godzilla, revealing would have happened if Godzilla was allotted the time to needed to mutate and reproduce. The Servum are the Godzilla Spawns of this universe.

>Gather 'round children, it's time grandpa told you about how he got his gains.
Take with a grain of salt, Godzilla's Plant origin explained and Plot details.
>The Xilien are the main villains of the trilogy, and their plan is explained by one of their outcasted members while imprisoned with the protagonists.
>Godzilla appears and attacks humanity with "genocidal intent", actively going after major population centers.
>The Xilien were behind the Monsters first appearing on Earth and their purpose was to cause humanities extinction.
>Once some of their monster begin dying to either Earth's military or by other monsters, the Xilien release/"create" Godzilla and unleash him on the world.
>Xilien were unaware by the fact that some human scientists were experimenting with Godzilla's cell samples and created an Anti-G bio weapon, using plants.
>Once humanity begins evacuating Earth, the Anti-G weapon is abandoned, and the main scientist behind the project angrily destroys a test sample, "killing him", and releasing the experiment into the wild.
-
>Years later, the Xilien being their attempts of colonizing the planet for it's resources when a new monster, Biollante appears and begins attacking them.
>Godzilla and Biollante eventually get into a battle for dominance.
>Biollante was defeated with an atomic blast, but her spores spread among the world.
>Through some manner, Godzilla disappears or dies from a mysterious cause, leaving Earth to slowly be teraformed by Biollante's spores.
>After Biollante's spores spread, it caused Earth's plant life to mutate and evolve into "Godzilla like organisms", making the planet uninhabitable for the Xilien.
>The wildlife that ate the "G-Plants" were also transformed and later eaten by predators, which themselves transformed into the Servum.
>Servum are very similar to Skull Island's Skull Crawlers, as they are the apex predator on the planet and come in several forms.

Part 2/2(?)
>When the protagonists arrive back on Earth, they quickly are introduce to "Godzilla" and are told that they must get rid of him at all costs, along with the Main Character's desire to get revenge against Godzilla.
>"Godzilla"(Biollante) is actually the fully restored and evolved form of Biollante.
>After 20,000 years Biollante uses the planet itself to help restore it's body and begin roaming the planet.
>"Godzilla" isn't evil, but is caught in a huge misunderstanding with Humanity, which is driven by an Xilien plot to kill off Biollante(potentially killing the G-Life source), and humanity after they do their dirty work.
>"Godzilla" is the scientist that was "killed" when the Anti-G weapon was released, and his soul has been living inside Biollante and is being kept alive in this new body.
-
>One plan to get rid of "Godzilla" is to trap him inside the planet with bombs, and simply blasting him until it falls.
>The protagonists continue attacking "Godzilla" until he saves their ship from an attacking force of flying Servum, forcing them to question what is actually going on.
>The Xilien see Godzilla aiding humanity and betray the protagonists.
>They capture our protagonists(Who where on the ground) and throw them in a "holding cell".
>When the protagonists and the exiled Xilien kill the Servum, and escape, they attempt to regroup with the Human mothership, and stop the Xilien plan of killing "Godzilla".
-
>The final battle is a battle between "Godzilla" and a giant hydra Servum("Proto Ghidorah").
>Our protagonists join in and aid "Godzilla" with the battle, with both eventually killing the Servum.
>The human mothership(Damaged from the battle) crashes on Earth and is stuck until they can repair it.
>The Xilien go into hiding, since "Godzilla" is actively defending the mothership from them.
-

At least it doesn't have elephant feet.
>>15788781
I don't like the hunchback but i kinda like the longer neck
>>15792123
2014 Godzilla looks like a fat over-sized lizard, nothing remotely interesting about its design. Anime Godzilla looks like an elderly, muscular kangaroo with back problems who happens to merge with a tree.
If he is part of Biollante then this could be the hypest shit, and then I forgive the design. If it isn't, then I am still disappoint and will demand that Grandpa Zilla not speak to me or my son ever again.

It didn't do anything with its setting, the entire story was just a big boring wank with the typical ButchGen shit characters (important but naive and sheltered girl, rugged world-weary merc dude) just wandering around discussing played out philosophical concepts that only impress 13 year olds with no conclusion, the plot was literally pointless because they were chasing some robot no one gave a fuck about who just ended up going off alone to never be seen again and was going to do it regardless. Shitty "the twist is humans" message too.
At least there was a cool mech fight but 99% of the movie was just stupid and banal and a waste of time. Not even entertaining. Characters all look like generic shit too. I really hated that movie.
