Kemono Friends is a CG anime that aired earlier this year that looks like bootleg Video Brinquedo but had a great story and characters and is probably the biggest and most successful anime in Japan this year.
tl;dr it doesn't matter how shit something looks; if you have a good story to back it up then it'll be worth it in the end, which is what anon (and I) hope will happen with Butcherzilla. This being Butcher of course, I can't say I'm too hopeful.

I was defending Shin as a legit godzilla entry, and obviously this trilogy is named "godzilla" so this is not really up to debate.

Pretty much everything they showed so far gives me worry, the only thing keeping me hopeful is the passion urobutcher has for this project. If you follow the behind the scenes interviews, he made a pretty huge effort with this anime.

It didn't do anything with its setting, the entire story was just a big boring wank with the typical ButchGen shit characters (important but naive and sheltered girl, rugged world-weary merc dude) just wandering around discussing played out philosophical concepts that only impress 13 year olds with no conclusion, the plot was literally pointless because they were chasing some robot no one gave a fuck about who just ended up going off alone to never be seen again and was going to do it regardless. Shitty "the twist is humans" message too.

At least there was a cool mech fight but 99% of the movie was just stupid and banal and a waste of time. Not even entertaining. Characters all look like generic shit too. I really hated that movie.

It's underwritten because it's another case of director rejecting Urobuchi's much more elaborate and "edgier" plot.
But it's a sound script, if you showed it to a script doctor, he'll tell you it's alright, which is how I see the movie.

It's a miniscule project, it was screened across 13 theaters and was merely a demo reel for the guys that do the precure 3D EDs.
This is a project that Urobuchi worked on way before he got famous. He didn't have all that much say in it.

They were going for serviceable plot and they got exactly that. The real star is the 3D.

You don't show off the entire movie in a trailer. Clearly they are not hiding his deign, Im sure alot the scenes with Godzilla in the movie potentially spoil plot or action set pieces they dont want spoiled in the first fucking trailer. Plus Godzilla movies typically have around 15 min or less of Godzilla, showing off 6% of their Godzilla footage in the first trailer would be stupid.
