i learned some time after beating OG2 that most of SRW is rehashes and repackaging of earlier storylines and content. i thought Banepresto had more to it due to that.

i have unhealthy high expecations from seeing the best of Ban's work in a single game, not realizing it was years of distilled goodness and spritesheets.

Banpresto had a lot of good games, but a lot of awful ones too. Most of the early success of SRW is based on Winkysoft's formula, which was then refined starting with Alpha.

Banpresto usually published low budget anime games, but sometimes a real gem came through, like Panzer Bandit (PSX) or Denjin Makai 2 (Arcade).

They have this weird phase during the PSX/Dreamcast era, where they tried to do some sort of pre-rendered spritework, which looked more like clay models than 3D work.
Look those games up:
- Super Hero Sakusen
- Super Hero Sakusen: Diedal's Ambition
- Great Battle VI
- Super Hero Retsuden

They all use the same style of sprites.
Banpresto has a lot of hits, but also a lot of misses.

For the one or two other anons who still look towards SRC Dungeon for some amusement, it seems like a few hours ago the guy behind the semi-consistent updating and tweaking of the game tweeted something that mentioned a few different series that aren't yet featured in SRC Dungeon yet: Laserion, Baratack, Rinne no Lagrange, Ultraman 80, Tiga, Dyna, Gaia, Sun Vulcan, Bioman, Dynaman and Changeman.

Whether that means anything or not, who knows, but updating the cast list would be a nice update for the game.

Why in the FUCK was there no Final Dynamic Special in SRW V?
The setup was perfect, Tetsuya finally dumped Great Majobber and upgraded to Mazin Emperor G, Kouji had Mazinger ZERO, and of course the Getter team was present. Had some badass event music playing, but no new final dynamic special.

Need to trim a Gundam and some Macross for one, the doubling up of RahXephon and Ideon probably isn't necessary, unless they never included those bits in the past so we have no precedent to go on...I'd probably push FMP, VOTOMs and Zambot out of there as well, or at least two out of those three.

L-Gaim Mk 2 is consistently good in all the games it's in, L-Gaim was pretty good in a few as well, and across the board most of the things were good in GC outside a few of those annoying power scaling issues that tend to crop up in GC with the series involving capturable mechs.

It was one of the better things you had on the Earth Route in Shin as well, though honestly that's because the pool of playables in Shin is rather shallow. I mean, God Gundam, sure, and Shin Getter/SRX on both routes, and Layzner Mk 2, Raideen, and Voltes V were all great... and then after that you have like one or two half ok support mechs, one or two really late-run additions that are fine, and fucking Trider (which was so fucking bad in Shin, it's really sad.).

Meanwhile Raideen has been consistently solid in the games it's in. Especially those games where Psychic (For some goddamn reason) means 20% SP Regen, because seriously man!


Outside of maybe arguably FMP Fumoffu and pre-10s Tales of Neo Byston Well, I'm having trouble thinking of any series in two or more games where it's just across the board bad though. Hell, there's not even all that many if you lower the requirement to one appearance - even Escaflowne had two really good units and one passable one (it just had the misfortune of having its really bad robot be the fucking titular main character one.)

Probably because outside of Compact 1, L-Gaim Mk 2 was usually a pretty lategame thing. It comes like ten stages or so from the end in GC, OE doesn't add any new units from the XO series outside of the Zeong (maybe like one other thing) and it joins in either late Chapter 6 or really early Chapter 7, and I don't remember when it shows up in F/Final but IIRC it's like the 40s or 50s? Which is a bit far from the last stage in the 70s or whatever I guess.

Compact 1 you get it like halfway through the game though, maybe even a few stages earlier than halfway. At the same time as you getting Mk 1 at any rate. That would have been the one chance to get it, and you get a shitload of potential new pilots in the endgame (There's like four or five secret pilots!) so they could have fit it in if they'd wanted.

Don't trust SRC Dungeon to automatically know or ascribe every weapon from the source material. It won't, always.

Magnum Ace and Mach Windy exactly copy their Neo movesets, for instance, which means Ace's shoulder cannon goes ignored (as do the less used baseball throws and his techniques from other sports, for instance).
