KO Beast has it, which is weird because the main mecha was an obvious Dancouga parody and Dancouga never had golden super modes IIRC
I may be remembering wrong, but I think it happens in the Eldran series as well. Almost sure that it didn't happen in Raijin-Oh, though

God Mars was the first, as I recall.

In the last episode, after having killed Zuul in the afterlife, Takeru and God Mars change during the final battle with what's left of Zuul, taking in the prayers of multiple peoples of multiple planets and turning gold before annihilating every bit of Zuul's essence.


That said, totally possible someone from the 70s did it first.

It's almost as dumb as the ninja from J-decker turning into a cannon once just because, and it's never revisited again.

To be absolutely technical every machine from Ganbaruger from the components to Great can do it. But in their case, it's not a power up - it's the prelude to them vanishing in a burst of golden light that repairs the damage to the surroundings.

While the original Dancouga didn't turn golden, IIRC, Dancouga Nova turned golden when it used God Beast mode.

See, that's not so bad, since that was also basically the last fight in the series where it was around for and they were able to use that (the actual last fight was one where it couldn't be present for).

What's worse is that he spends the episode building up to it having trouble killing a thing because he has no power form... but he did. He had the tank form. Which was also only used once and never again, but in this case was used really early on and would have been useful a shitload of times throughout the show.

Which itself was based on something Dancouga Burn did, but we don't know if that changed its color. Didn't seem to.

The ol' G1 Transformers episode where the Decepticons had gotten a gold skin, although that was done through unusual means.

Speaking of Transformers, I remember Optimus/Galaxy Convoy turning golden in the final battle against Master Galvatron. I'm not sure if Flash Lio Convoy counts in the whole "robot turning completly golden" category.

I dunno, I liked it.

I question why they didn't end with the "God Mars literally goes to Hell and kills his opponent in the afterlife", switching around the last two episodes, but that was cool. Takeru taking over Zuul's place as god of the dead was a neat ending, and it's not like God Mars being... well, fucking bullshit OP, really - was anything new to that show.

I guess Mushrambo kind of counts? It's more of a power-armor type thing, and it's definitely a sci-fi setting. They get golden forms in the latter half of the show.

Shine Spark wasn't gold, though. It lights up, but the only colors I can remember it ever glowing were either white or a bit green. Hell, in SvN when they do that it glows blue.
