I'm a Zaku fag, but where the GM line grew progressively better as time went on, with the GM II then III and the obviously derivative Jegan, Jesta, the Zaku peeked at the Zaku II and went downhill with the Hi-Zack because fuck that look and I would say even the Zaku III, but got slightly better with the Geara Doga.
In other words, Zaku I and II have the best aesthetic, but everything after is a downgrade, while the GM line started off generic and average but got progressively better looking.

The Jegan D-type is superior to the original in the same way the GM II is superior to the GM

I prefer Zaku over GM but if it's any indicative my second gunpla was a Jegan "four eyes". I like the color scheme and the eyes are cool.
Actually, I just find that the green-sickly color scheme of the Federation Jegan is disgusting.
