So I loved Mobile Suit Gundam, but I'm 30 episodes into Zeta and can't stand it.
What other Mecha shows would I like? The only other mecha show I've seen is Evangellion and well...it was Evangellion.

Build Fighters
It's literally impossible not to have fun when you watch Build Fighters
Captain Earth
>>15766906
zeta gundam really slogs after they get back in to space
>>15766906
Gundam Wing
Gurren Lagann
Gundam ZZ
>>15766906
How can I get the motivation to slog through Mobile Suit Gundam? I'm trying but it's just so bad. It's like shittier, more drawn out version of Seed, which while an impressive achievement, does not make for a good series.
>>15766906
The Aquaripn trilogy, Dougram, and Demdoh.
>>15766962
>Dendoh
>>15766923
You forgot to put Seed Destiny on there.
>>15766906
ZZ and Turn A
>>15766946
>>15766946
Watch the movies then, but also just try to stop having such shit taste
>>15767032
Eh, I was only semi-joking. I really am struggling to get through it, largely I think because I've already seen Seed and the two stories seem virtually identical.
>>15766906
>>15766946
Just watch the movies, then when your done anything from G Gundam to IBO are dope for gundam.
You can also try Macross or Southern Cross out
>>15767037
SEED was basically a 0079 reboot for normies. It's what the Force Awakens is to the original Star Wars.
>>15767045
>suggesting G Gundam, ever
Might as well suggest watching SD Gundam.
>>15767061
G Gundam is great, pull that stick outta your ass
>>15766906
Force yourself through Zeta, love the ending, then proceed to ZZ.
Boom, you're now in the top 10% of /m/ and top 1% of /a/
>>15766967
I didn't want it to be that obvious
I had problems getting through Zeta after 0079
Give it a bit of time, and have another crack at it or just power through until the later episodes (past day of Dakar) and it picks up
08th ms team
>>15767070
Is 0079 > Z > ZZ the correct order though? I'm in the same situation as OP except I already watched Wing, G, IBO and then did 0079 into Zeta (30 eps in). I have decided to watch 08MS and Thunderbolt after this and then the 3 movies though I'm not sure if there's an ideal order for this.

>Is 0079 > Z > ZZ the correct order though?
That's honestly a loaded question cause it really depends on what you're going into this for.
My rule is always rely on production order. A lot of the times these shows are created with the idea that they're the next entry point in the franchise, so they look at stuff that came before and see what they can do next. It's not as prevalent in Gundam, for a lot of reasons, but a throwaway line in one spin off or sequel could easily end up spoiling a prequel series for you if you go by chronological viewing order.
My only recommendation is that you don't try to burn yourself out by watching nothing but Gundam. There's a genuine sea of mecha anime out there for you to explore, so don't lock yourself up with just this one franchise.
>>15768056
I've been playing some games and watching other non mech stuff inbetween so I don't think I'll burn out. I've been basically watching this at a very slow pace over the past couple years but was afraid of watching it in some wrong order. Production sequences probably makes the most sense to avoid spoilers now that you mention it.

Watching ZZ right after Z is more natural, in that ep 2 of ZZ picks up hours after where Z left off (and ep 1's a recap of Z).
However, it spends the first few episodes shuffling the status quo around, so that by ep 20 almost nothing of Z is left, bar the mecha. Plus ZZ doesnt impact much later on until you get to Unicorn (and vaguely Crossbone Gundam if you ever read it), and even then I've known people to watch Unicorn without watching ZZ first and having no problems, it does a decent job of filling you in. It's also very love-it/hate-it, so there are a lot of people who advocate just going from Zeta to CCA to wrap up the main plot and character arcs of 0079 and Z.
Mostly, though, I'd agree with >>15768056 though, production order all day, every day. Both for the reasons given by VF, and because it's neat to watch a series develop over time.
>>15766906
Stick to the OYW Gundams.
You should watch Space Runeway Ideon
It's the true sequel to 0079 anyway
Is there any where to legally watch the original movie trilogy?
>>15772824
I think the official YouTube had it depending on the region you're in
>>15772869
is that Gundaminfo?
>>15772824
Right Stuff put it out on blu ray months ago.
>>15766946
The last few episodes are god-tier
Try Votoms and Ideon.
Finished Zeta, didn't like it.
Should I watch ZZ next? The first episode of ZZ was horrific.
pic extremely related
>>15772972
Watching Bright deal with these idiots was the only bright spot of the show
>>15772988
When Kamille isn't being a whiny bitch, then Amuro has to jump in, and when Kamille sort of grows up, Katz comes in to fucking cry about everything
>>15772998
The only characters outside of Bright that I found even remotely sympathetic were Yazan for fighting newtypes as an oldtype, and oddly enough Jerrid for getting the shit kicked out of him for the entire show and never getting to win
>>15773026
Well and I guess Apolly, Roberto, and Henken are alright too. Maybe Pharaoh, but they aren't enough to save the series
Anyway I'm scared ZZ is going to be even worse.
>>15773026
It really did get obnoxious seeing everyone in zeta being so angry at each other, all the fucking time. These people got more emotional problems than the evangelion cast
>>15766906
Abandon Zeta, watch Char's Counterattack, 0080, Unicorn and Turn-A.
Then move on to Macross (original series, Do You Remember Love, Plus and Frontier) and Patlabor (literally everything, starting with the 7 episode "Early Days" OVA).
>>15766906
>30 episodes into Zeta and can't stand it.
Then why did you continue to "stand it" for 30 eps.?
>>15774362
>The only other mecha show I've seen is Evangellion
>>15766923
ZZ is good, fuck off
