Macross 7 has many faults, but its music is the best of the all the Macross tv/ova/films. It's very very hard to top good j-rock. J-pop just doesn't have have that kind of power. Frontier does get close though, but even its best songs can't top those of 7. As for Delta it's a fucking joke (a sad joke) in comparison.
If Kawamori had any grains of salt left in his head he'd throw out j-pop and do a godly new Macross show with hardass j-rockers. And watch the sparks fly.

Diamond Crevasse is great. I love how they used it in the episode where Glasses dude died.
