I can see everything above and including the waist having a working, autonomous transformation. The waist pulling up may be a problem though.

The legs on the other hand, is another story. mainly, how it grows a significant amount, in the thighs and the pull point around in the lower calves.
Then there's the whole thing with the feet. You need the thing to be off the ground for the heel mechanism and the whole array of panels rearranging around it to work. No to ways around it.
