I don't necessarily agree, but the fact that you think that is a good thing. You don't really want the main character to be the most interesting character in the show. Interesting supporting characters to the MC make the whole thing come together neatly and help characters play off each other.

They could just have Philip fix the driver so that it can work with a single user, rather than giving Shotaro the Lost Driver.

Anyway, Philip surviving was mostly to push that whole "lol Shotaro is just half boiled" thing, not to set up future crossovers or anything. Movie Wars Core's W part was basically a big flashback to Skull after all.

Besides, back then Philip return after the show wasn't an issue. He returned for the W Returns, Let's Go Kamen Riders and Megamax. It only became a problem when his actor decided he wanted to change his image.

Even after that though, we still got Shotaro as W by himself in the SHTZ net movies and Kamen Rider Taisen proper.

This isn't going to mean much when it comes to rider shows, but the clothwear department for the Build characters seems to be extremely bland. Sento just wears a plain overcoat over a hoodie shirt. It's just a small nitpick though, but I hope there's more detail added later on.
