The really sad part is Delaz and Gato appear to be devoted to a man and not an ideal, and it's not even a man they know all that well, only an image of him they keep that isn't much like the real man at all. It'd be one thing if they were devoted to Contolism, bringing about an age of newtypes, or even carving out a Zeon based on their own ideas; as is though they just want to finish Gihren's war and not only never question his methods, but never even appear to consider that they could be questioned. Yes, the Zabi children really earned their position. Who exactly had hereditary positions in the EF again by the way? There were no named EF heads at all until Unicorn, and even then Ricardo Marcenas earned his position as head of the EF upon it's inception as far as we know, while his son arranged for his father's death and then used that incident to help secure office, which is work to get it; really shitty, shady work, but more than any Zabi ever did. Ronan Marcenas wasn't even a direct head of the EF and was instead a councillor, while Riddhe left it altogether to become a pilot.

Zeon Daikun only reached influence in Side 3 based on his ideology and charisma. The only other member of his family to gain similar position within the Zeon movement was Char, who was also very charismatic and was well known for being a major war hero in the OYW and then a brief stint as leader of the AEUG fighting against the Earth supremacist Titans. The Rals follow a similar pattern with Jimba being a political ally to Daikun and his son Ramba becoming a war hero. They only start promoting the aristocratic nonsense when the Zabis come to power and the families of Zabi sycophants, mistresses, attendants and those useful in the military were all given to noble aspirations. Which ended up becoming pretty useless when Zeon lost the war and you have these people running Axis. It's by a stroke of luck that Haman ended up having the fortitude and cunning to actually lead Axis, when what was more likely is that the aristocrats devolve into infighting and someone with more clout and experience in the military is able to take over.
