My advice is that you find a wizard. They have a tendency to leave superweapons lying around, and if you figure out how those work most work as power sources.

The problem you'll probably run into after that is the actual body - you're going to need to shell out a lot to get a material that is lightweight enough to move, but strong enough to hold itself up (plus whatever weight you might be expected to hold.).

No, see, what you have to do is wait for the big crisis, and if you don't have a pilot picked out one will stumble in.

Sometimes they'll do that even if you did have a pilot. Sometimes your old pilot will get injured or die, too. Best not to go through the hassle if you didn't design it for a specific person.
