The main title ("Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers") is very, VERY Tommy-centric, which is to be expected. It's decent otherwise. The series that just started, "Go, Go Power Rangers," takes place in the Rangers' early days and will apparently focus more on how they balance being teenagers and being Rangers.

I think this is pretty accurate.

However I think SPD and DT should be switched.

SPD really spat the bed once Omega enters in. Later episodes were really sloppy as well.

Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder are well liked though. Doug Sloan did those seasons, who was also around during the originals.

The hate on the Disney seasons only really happens during the Kalish era when he took over for SPD-JF. Those seasons are considered the worst ones at the time. But SPD and Jungle Fury are pretty liked. The main reason his seasons are hated is the terrible action.

but the biggest issue? The music sounded like they googled "Royalty free TRON soundtrack" and just threw darts on the board to see where they would place them. Yeah sure it took 90 minutes to suit up, transforming happened all off screen (suit and zord), and most of the "effects" and sound fx were misplaced (Alpha winking, and any part with Rita) but that soundtrack was abysmal. They even had a remixed "Go Go Power Rangers" but it wasn't even the start of the credit's song. Instead it's some shitty remix of "I've got the Power" then something else AND THEN the Go Go Power Rangers song played.

I hope they make a sequel because there are directors looking at it. Not to mention DVD sales were pretty good for the movie. The biggest problem is that it only made 140m world wide and it cost 120m to produce, not including advertisement (or lack of). Green with Evil on the silver screen could make for a good sequel, maybe even shovel in White Ranger coin as a "redemption" midway through the movie. I'd like to see them at least go through "in Space" but that would require them to do Turbo, which makes me almost question if it's worth it.

Movie was okay. I'm surprised on how much I liked it. Theres still a lot I didn't like though, like the first half was "Ow the Edge" for me. Billy was perfect too by making him accurate to the show without making it feel too unrealistic.

It's all Kiwis and Australians since they don't have to be SAG'd when cast.
If Nick drops them (I don't see why desu), then maybe Netflix might pick them up. It all depends on what Saban negotiates, but barring abysmal ratings on Nick's end (even moreso with streaming now being a viable way to shore up poor ratings), I don't see it leaving them anytime soon.As for leaving Saban, the first time that happened was as part of a deal to sell the Fox Family channel (later ABC Family, now Freeform) to Disney, so unless he starts getting desperate for cash again or something, it'll stay with Saban.

I never watched VR Troopers, but I heard it was alright.
I like the concept for Beetleborgs. It was pretty great.
I remember liking Mystic Knights. It was an alright show from what I remember. It probably aged badly if I see it again. I find it funny that the token female is practically half naked.
I liked the idea of there being a sitcom Tokusatsu, but I wished they didn't do it on something like Kamen Rider. It could have had better potential.

As for the others:
I only saw 2 episodes of Superhuman Samurai on VHS, and I loved it.
Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighter is good for a few laughs. That fucking budget.
Kamen Rider Dragon Knight is underrated. Its actually just as good as the older heisei era KR. But I do admit that the final arc was a bit messy.

I remember watching this one show that aired during Time Force about Luchadores. Though I don't think people remember it, or even count it as a toku.

I wonder why. Dino Charge's production seemed more chill and less chaotic than the past Neo-Saban seasons. If it's because he's sad about his career, what was he expecting? Power Rangers has been going on for so long, and the behind the scenes actor stories have been well spread enough that most new Power Ranger actors should be fully aware of what they're going into. Most do it because it's a chance to live a childhood dream while getting some convention cred, not as a stepping stone to something greater.

I remember the actual recolor community in PR. It lasted for a few years back then. They would always have a praying pose. Then the "artist" stopped liking PR and went full christian. Then the rest the community went down. There were tons of recoloring threads in the fanfic section. I think they redesigned it, but nothing came from it.

Yeah. I remember him too. I did question if he was a troll(specifically Impy from RB) or someone who was legitimately autistic. I think it as more of the later since there do exist communities who are still into preschool stuff. Also the audience for RangerGallery is pretty small too, and the effort put into making those fanfics, recolors and parody songs is a bit too much.

Everyone cringed, though I admittedly softened up only because I felt it was too mean for him to be ganged up on. Plus, Rangergallery barley had people in it. I also could have sworn I had one with the Gokaiger team.

I was a mod at RG, and one for Power Ranger Empire too, but that kept rebooting way too much.

Then there was an episode where, remember the travelling Teen Peace Conference that Jason, Trini and Zack went off with? In the episode before they left, the other members of the Peace Conference actually appear, and Zedd decided that as the best and brightest students in the world, he'd kidnap them to become his new "evil Rangers", but that plot, like above, didn't really pay off.

My point being, even when they had no suits, no footage, no NOTHING, they LOVED teasing kids with the possibility of one or more Evil Power Rangers.

It's not enough to just have 12 Rangers, 3 Megazords, and the 88 Power Orbs (that's my guess on what they'll be called since the Neo-Saban era is unoriginal as fuck), but there's gonna be recolors and additional armor, I don't even know if they can do an original cockpit since like the movie they're all individual cockpits, villain toys (though Kyuranger's monsters have kind of sucked), and who knows what else.

the characters are all multi-faceted, Trent is possibly the best evil ranger ever, they wrote Tommy absolutely perfectly. It wasn't even an anniversary season but it was the best tribute to PR's legacy ever. The villains were really interesting for PR (love the history of them) and it just "got" the high school tone.

Hey guys, I've just been redirected here from /tv/, could somebody redpill me on Power Rangers?

Long story short, I was born in the Eastern Bloc in the 90's, so we never had Power Rangers on TV. It has recently come to my attention, and I guess I can see some potential in it, if only for nostalgia. Anyway here are some of my questions

1. Is Power Rangers worth watching?
2. If so, in what order?
3. Is there anything you shouldn't watch/avoid?
4. At what point does the show jumps the shark? (ie: in Stargate the last two seasons are often shunned by the fans as fanfiction tier garbage)

Also feel free to add anything if it can help me better understand the show.

1. Sure, If you like live action stunts and fights, or are a fan of Kaiju (Godzilla, etc.)
2. Order is a tricky question. While MMPR was the first, and logically you would start from the first season, it hasn't aged super well.
If you don't mind the dated effects and cheesy dialogue then start there and watch in prod. order from there.
If you want something a little more modern, I'd personally suggest starting with Ninja Storm onward. It retains the cheesy nature of the first season while having a little more of a plot and better overall production quality.
3. As shown by this tier list >>15773288 everything in the F Tier should be avoided. To answer your next question, some of the seasons in this tier (Samurai and Megaforce) were some of the more recent ones, although Dino Charge was a step back in the right direction.

Most seasons have little continuity with each other, save for a couple crossover episodes here and there. The exception is MMPR up until In Space. These seasons had a linked continuity, although it isn't important enough to hamper understanding. Other than that though, feel free to jump around.

If you are familiar with it back then, or really love tokusatsu. Then yes.

If you are not familiar with Power Rangers at all, then I recommend MMPR Season 1-2. Just to get the iconic characters.

The Zordon arc is the first 6-7 seasons where they keep changing and switching around the main cast. PRiS is considered the best season for its shifting tone and ending the Zordon arc. Lost Galaxy is more of an epilogue. DT brings back Tommy as a mentor. I would recommend just watching a few episodes just familiarize yourself or watch Linkara's videos. If you just want to jump in with a better story, I'd recommend the ones after the Zordon arc.

After the Zordon arc, the rest of the seasons have a new cast each season, but they are still in continuity of each other with a few exceptions. That means you can just watch Time Force and Ninja Storm without having to worry about anything.

In the Zordon Era, Turbo is considered this. But I do think it got better when the new rangers come in, with a REALLY good finale.

When Power Rangers went to Disney, the Kalish Era (SPD-JF) were really hated. The action also became god awful to watch, and the writing was terrible. Mystic Force and Operation Overdrive are to avoid.

Another fairly recent shit age came in when Saban brought it back. The producer for Samurai and Megaforce really went out of his way to prevent nice things from happening. Megaforce is considered worse than any other past seasons.
While MMPR is iconic to everyone, I think the fans really stayed for the times they slipped in more sci-fi heavier seasons like Time Force and In Space.
I also recommend watching Linkara's videos too.

What's wrong with what I said? MMPR really does feel like a product of the 90's, the dialogue, the writing, the fashion and aesthetics, and there are some people who may not like that. Perhaps I should have use different words to express that.

Same for the effects, what I meant was that a lot of practical and editing effects used in the older seasons look silly when compared to shows of today. (What comes to mind is the Emboss effect they used to simulate the petrification effect in the first episode of Lost Galaxy). For people getting in to it now, they may not like how it looks, while for others it might be charming and a reminder of their childhoods.

Art doesn't "age", its made at a time. "Dated" when used pejoratively essentially blames the artist from not being time travelers. Even when not used in that way it shows lack of criteria because it adds nothing. Of course MMPR feels like a product of the 90s, because it IS a product of the 90s. The only reason to bring that up is if the other person doesn't actually know what decade MMPR is from which is something you can find quickly on google. Same for the effects, if you're watching something from the 90s you get something from the 90s, the same as watching something from the 30s, the 60s or 2017.

Why? You mean not watching each show in production order or the episodes themselves? Because if its the first I don't see why and itf its the second, there's no reason not to watch in order. There is an, albeit light, plot in the shows so its better to watch them in order, specially Amazon.
Out of the ones I watched (all but post ep 50 original show, Skyrider and Super-1) the only one that has long streaks of episodes without significant changes is the original.

He was from the Kyoryuger vs Go-Busters movie that brought the three dinosaur Sentai teams together against reinvented, powered-up versions of past enemies. I'd have loved to see that movie adapted because I actually like all of the dinosaur Power Rangers shows too. Too bad Saban dropped the ball on adapting Go-Busters.
