I'm trying to find a seller that won't price every kit at 80 dollars. I know that probably sounds stupid to people who are used to this, but I'm a newcomer to the HMM series and I'd rather not butcher myself for them.

Get used to it. Gundam kits are priced much lower than similarly detailed kits from other series and companies. That's simply the going rate for HMM.
