I still like some of your basic ideas, your execution is garbage though. Still, I have a soft spot for you because the idea of a show discussing the role of soldiers in peace time, humanity (or lack thereof) in warfare, especially when drones of various kinds are introduced and so on are interesting subjects that deserve discussion and most shows never touch them at all. Your discussion barely touched on them in a substantive manner on the other hand, so all you really did is mention them in reality. I like that Endless Waltz ends with Relena no longer a total pacifist and leading a populist uprising too I suppose, she has an interesting arc in concept; it's just done really badly, like most things though.

Shakti is as much a princess as Relena, so chronologically she may be the first. I wouldn't lay the blame for the popularity of that archetype within the franchise at either's feet though. I'd put that on Dianna and Kihel personally. And I say that as someone who doesn't just love the characters or the show as a Gundam show, but as a media entry full stop. It's one of my favorite anythings and ticks a lot of boxes for me (though I understand why someone else may not love it, since it is a slower entry with divisive mechanical design and less focus on action). Relena and Tiffa both preceded Dianna, but Tiffa wasn't particularly popular given the show's reception and I don't believe Tomino decided to use Dianna and Kihel based at all on either of them. Turn-A wasn't a particularly popular show either, but I do think Murosawa and/or Fukuda liked Turn-A and I think Lacus was based on both Kihel and Dianna personally. And Lacus was popular, and presumably why Marina was part of 00 at the very least.

I say that I think one or both of them liked Turn-A because I think there's some similarities between SEED/Destiny and Turn-A that make me think they did. Fukuda and Murosawa just put their own spin on the things they did like in Turn-A though obviously, at least, if they were imitating it. Instead of Dianna and Kihel spurring the Moonrace militia in to a last ditch effort against a conjoined Moonrace military and Amerian military Lacus creates an alliance based on people who've left both out of disgust. Lacus has her own doppleganger in Destiny. Kira and Lacus even have a similar relationship to Loran and Dianna, with the men in both serving more as knights than paramours. It even goes down to smaller details, like SEED including a shot of the Moon city that seems identical to and a reference to Ghingham in Turn-A.

That's not right, it's like saying the Leo can use a beam dobergun just because the Tallgeese can. They can't seem to decide if the tallgeese's head has a neck joint or not, but it is known that it can turn its head. Top two images show a definite neck joint that is rounded and would allow rotation, bottom two show the head being continuous with the upper torso with no seam.

The Leo has never been depicted with a neck joint, and is never shown rotating the head. It's just the one scene where a Leo has a head facing off-centre during a conversation between Relena and Noin about why OZ uses mobile suits.

There's the Robot Damashii Leo figure, it originally came with a fixed head. Later there was an optional accessory kit released for it that included a turning head. The original fixed head is much nicer looking and resembles the show art, while the optional turning head is uglier and has seams and lips that don't look good.

Sometimes I feel that Gundam 00 (S1 at least) is 'Gundam Wing with better execution'. I liked how the show sometimes viewed Celestial Being's enemies in an 'underdog' sort of light which made me sympathize with them every time they get bullied by their Gundams and it was oddly satisfying seeing them get their comeuppance near the end of the season, almost as if their crimes finally caught up with them.

In Gundam Wing however, it just seems like they depict the boys as if they could do no wrong at all, despite the cowardly atrocities they committed, and they practically get away with it in the end.

I found the GN-X from 00S1 and the GNZ types from 00S2 interesting during their debuts, but as soon as they got beat out in power levels again, it was boring. Due to the fact that the armor was of little difference, that meant differences would have to be exhibited elsewhere, and usually that meant overwhelming firepower or mobility.

If the GNZ types had gotten trans-am earlier, it might have spiced up some of the combat, instead of turning the innovades into jokes that got one-shot by the 00 Raiser and outplayed by the other Gundams that were damaged or weary after fighting an entire army.

Episode SEVEN ends with 4/5 of the Gundam pilots being duped by OZ into killing the Alliance pacifists, and Heero is feeling so sorry for himself, he asks Sylvia, Noventa's granddaughter to give him a bullet, and she tells him he's gotta live with that shit. Not to mention, all of the other pilots are on the run, because OZ is tightening up security really good, AND they haven't been messing with the colonies because they're too busy taking over the planet.

General Septum is like some kind of miracle. The show was mostly ok for the standards of its time, but this guy struts in and just gives a performance that's beyond comprehension.

So as someone whose only skimmed the wiki, why is Frozen Teardrop bad? Other than the whole contradictory bit from the end of EW:

I like to think older/original Leo models couldn't as a way to cut costs and make them easier to produce. But over time as tech got better, shit got easier/cheaper to make, and I would assume soldiers complaining about visibility issues they added it in back in from the High Duck.

You're thinking of episode 12. Resistance fighters are hiding in a forested mountainous area, and three Leos are airdropped in to attack them at night. It had the exact scene you describe where a Leo was shot in the head and the protective flap came down.

Unfortunately, the Leo's head doesn't turn in that scene. It actually turns the entire upper body from the waist up so it can look at some enemies.
