There are only a bit more than a dozen different anime series with a bigger focus on space ship battles anyways. Not like the genre was ever super diverse or plentiful in the last 40 years.

Seriously all I can think of. Everything else I know of is mostly mecha with a sprinkling of ship combat. Feel free to add to the list, if you know any shows where space ship battles are more than simple garnish.

Those guns look ridiculously fragile and have terrible firing arcs. Manga version is much more effective.

If your enjoyment gets dented by wether the effin' space ship design is practical or not, then maybe you should stay away from anime. And space opera.

Those manga designs are much better. Accelerators are inside the hull. It makes the guns seem much scarier when you realize how long the barrels really are.

LN Barbarossa

Glancing through some animesuki spoilers for the LN, the changes made to the ships and crew may need some creative writing changes or adjustments to make it work, assuming they do an S2. Odette II's sail deployment crystal is later used as a focusing device for a powerful BFG as well as could potentially be used to channel an energy drill-like bow piercer.

I suppose the fights in Infinite Ryvius are technically mecha battles? But they have the feel/pacing of ship-to-ship encounters.

Yeah, I know there's too much angst, but the principle of a team of programmers coding the mecha as it fights is fantastic.
