Do you prefer rocket punches that are more remote controlled with thrusters, or bound to something like cables?

If a final, desperation attack then thrusters (no guidance)
As to the other two options, it would depend on the mecha - for example, Jehuty with a rocket punch would look odd if it was wire guided/cable retracted while a rocket punch on, say, a scopedog would not suit such a high tech style and would lose the chunky war aesthetic
So in effect, its a case by case basis, although in general I prefer wire guided/cable retracted as if they have the tech to make remote controlled rocket punches...why not go all the way and make a fin funnel?
Remote.
There's very few mecha that actually have enough cable storage to justify the extension length.
My favorite was Gaiking's, where it had to use the grappling hook thing to get its fists back.
What about the third option?

Remote is just more fun. I've never seen a wired rocket punch do a spinning double drill hammer and I doubt if that could even be animated in a way that makes sense

Time to add DAi-Guard to my backlogand probably never watch it

No, but it would be funny to see it backhand an enemy by accident when it misses the return docking.
Or when there's no time to retract and it just uses the arm as an impromptu flail.
