Which is better?

Mechs as assault platforms that deploy power armoured troops, then leave to have mech on mech combat.
I like both but if you held a gun to my head it would be Powered Armor.
>>15688651
Piloting a mecha in power armor.
>>15688651
A mecha that needs to be piloted by using a power armor connected to the mechanisms of the cockpit.
Power Armor
Mecha
Power armor is actually plausible and something being worked on in real life.
>>15688730
>>15688738
Is said mecha also piloting a starship?
Roboute Guilliman
>>15688811
That has literally nothing to do with anything.
Roboute Guilliman
Belisarius cawl
Both should be used together in combined arms.

powered armor piloting a robot piloting a moon which is actually another robot piloting a robot piloting an energy construct but lets call it a robot because why not

Greater Good gon' give it to ya!

>He hasn't watched Macross.
Connect to your robot wirelessly through the power armor pack, have it sync up with you, take you in, sync up the robot with the armor to allow you to pilot.
Messiah is pure sex in this regard.

Power Armor, because it can go in doors.
BOTH
Both

Powered armor as the escape pod to a mech
power armor
>more plausible
>More practical
>more real world applications

>Mechs or Power Armor
Why not both?

The EX Gear isn't really power armor though, it's just a glorified pilot suit/jetpack combo. It's not on the same level as Evoluder Gai hooking up with GFG, Houichi's nanosuit in Exaxxion, or hell, even Kurou's Necronomicon suit interfacing with Demonbane
>>15688651
I like both. But I like Giant robots better.

>The EX Gear isn't really power armor though, it's just a glorified pilot suit/jetpack combo
except it isn't. it's literally powered
Daily reminder the Clans used power armor for guerilla actions against 'mechs
>>15688651
40k has some of the worst power armor aesthetic in fiction. And I say that as a fan of Custodes and Thousand Sons.
Starship Troopers had the best power armor, though. Heinlein even explored tactics and training with such implements. And it boiled down to use jump jets, fire rockets at the ground, land, repeat.
>>15688651
I'm not sure you can compare mechanized cavalry against infantry
they're both necessary to warfare, so why rank one against the other?
Bio Armor.
>>15688651
>Mechs
Why do people say this instead of mecha or even just robots?
>>15694465
"Guerilla" implies a severe lack of combined arms, which isn't the case.
Elementals work in tandem with mechs
>>15695073
Wouldn't you always have to be weary in case you get taken over and turned into a body horror monstrosity? The problem with bio-armor is that you only get one of two choices. The first, as I mentioned is the kind that you have to keep in check so you don't get fucked over in case of a malfunction and absorbed into a new super-organism. The second, even worse case is where the normal operation of the armour turns you into a HR Geiger style super monster, but you and everyone else have to pretend that you don't get nightmares about it every time you finish a mission.
>>15695462
That's what the Control Medal is there to prevent, duh.
>>15695537
I think you mean Chekov's plot device. Half the episodes were about the device being damaged or malfunctioning.
>>15695462
Literally neither of those things happen when you use a bio booster armor. In fact, the bio booster armor (plus it's host missing half their brain) surpressed the memory of the host murdering his zoaformed father.

>tmw when you realise Feddie MSs still use IR search lights.
>Technology obsolete by the time the Leopard 1A4 entered service.
Or the mechanical designer didn't know what it was .
>>15699672
IR equipment would be one of the technologies that isn't affected by minovsky particles.. at least not that badly? We know minovsky particles will fuck with radio waves and therefore radar doesn't really work.
Remember, you're talking about a universe where direct combat is sort of restricted to visual range, and guidance/detection systems are usually either optical or laser based since radar doesn't work due to minovsky particle jamming.
>>15692617
There's too much exposed for it to be proper combat armor. It's more of a support exoskeleton.
>>15692611
Monthly reminded that ALL Omnimechs have elemental carrying capacity. Granted, they're basically hanging from external handholds but they do have charging ports to work with.
