Its great fun. The only criticism I have is the length. 50 episodes is a bit much when arguably most of the plot important stuff happens in the first 10 and last 20 episodes. Aside from that, it has the highest quality music of any Macross series, and the highs are extremely high.

It's repetitive. It's slow. The plot is dumb. The main show goes on for longer than it should have. Characters are as thin as the paper that their dialogue was written on.

The only real exceptionally good thing about it was the sound track. Other than that, the whole show feels like a 50-episode advertisement for plastic toys and CD albums.

I love Macross 7 dude. In my opinion it's the most enjoyable entry of the entire franchise because it doesn't take itself too seriously. And the characters (good and evil) are a blast.

If there's one thing Kawamori knows, it's how to make a great looking robot. I think that may be a part of why Satelight's shows continue to involve mecha even when they don't really need to

Original Macross was a bigger bastardization of itself than 7 ever hoped to be. And don't get me started on DYRL.

7 is a great show. Some elements worked, some not so much, too long for its own good etc. Final battle was amazing and Angel Voice is still THE theme of Macross franchise for me.

7's biggest strength is that it doesn't really try to outsmart itself like every other Macross does. It just focuses on showing this world, these characters and this story without throwing random shit at you.

That's exactly what original show wanted to do, but couldn't.

One thing would be to accidentally stumble upon a cool method to deal with their issues, but another thing was to have the autist that went to sing in the middle of a battle every single time since the beginning to have been right about it all along.
