Okada wanted harem shit, boys love and nothing big for the franchise. If it was just her work, we could have another shit harem gundam with many survivors at the end of S2, like S1. Bad, but still "watchable" in a forced some way.

However, Nagai fucked it even more, increasing the psycopathy of the group and making that slaughter at the end of S2. He grab the few positive things of S1 and turned into anarquia in S2, with a retarded ending.

Okada was very weak in character development, but Nagai was a real saboteur.

My ideal pair would be Izubuchi as director and Hiroshi Onogi as writer. Is the kind of experienced pair which I believe would delivery a solid war drama, without those kind of narrative exaggerations.

But for something like IBO, if we maintain Okada primary idea for the plot, I could think of at least four different names for better suited directors, like, Akitarou Daichi, Kazuyoshi Katayama, Nobuyoshi Habara, and even maybe Yutaka Uemura, who did a decent job in Youjo Senki.
