I remember playing Armored Core furiously on my Playstation. Haven't touched the franchise after trying the second out a bit.

I'll probably be crucified for this but I wouldn't mind an open world Armored core where you travel around with a caravan completing jobs, kind of like MGSV.
Make each sortie have expenses for fuel (tied to operation time), ammo, maitance costs, wages for any contracted pilots, and have something like the operator view to direct your caravan, while gameplay could be closer to 3 or V. And instead of personal funds for job, they pay your company which then has to hire employees, cover operating costs, buy new parts, pay salaries, and pay for intelligence.

Fuel is stupid; unless its for the caravan. ACs ran on futuretech fusion and futuretech plasma/nuclear thrusters. So instead, Fuel reserves limit how far the caravan can travel rather than AC operation time.

Energy weapons should be a means to save on ammo costs; being regenerated after each deployment (similar to the EO energy cores back in AC3/SL) rather than scrounging for battery packs (unless said packs are used as a consumable to recharge e-weapons in combat).

That aside, the idea has potential, but I would at least like a proper plot while plenty of side-missions allow for risk/reward benefits that could either make the story missions easier or allow for new equipment, all while risking the limited resources available to the caravan.
