He claims to want to change the destiny of Bugsters, but when Poppy actually grows past her programming he flips out and starts to strangle her. He gleefully murders screaming victims by the dozens, but cries like a bitch when faced with death himself. He's a brilliant schemer, but all of those schemes are just for the sake of a good fight.

He's a walking paradox, and that's what makes it so satisfying to see him finally on the receiving end of the beatings he's been handing out for so long.

I don't think it's subtlety. I think that's what the show wanted him to be, but the show moves from one plot to the next so much Parrad kind of gets lost in the shuffle. He spent most of the show hanging out and joining in fights, then he gets his chance at being the primary villain and nothing much comes of it because then Dan comes back. Then Masamune comes and Parrad and Graphite are kind of stuck in the same place. Maybe next week will change that.

It's why Muteki's so effective against him. Being invincible means Cronus doesn't get his ATK multiplier since technically none of his attacks succeeded, and Muteki's lag kicks means his DEF buff means nothing since the kicks hit him during the lag spike when his DEF wasn't buffed.

Muteki's also at the stat cap of 128, which is the limit of what can be achieved even with boosters. Even if Cronus fights for long enough or uses enough Muscle Ups to get his stats up to the cap as well, Masamune's a shitty fighter and Emu's a great one, especially as M, so Muteki can still hand Cronus his ass.
