The only thing I dislike about it is the shield, but I don't think that's enough to call it the worst gundam ever. Especially when Nero Gundam exists.

People like Turn A because it immediately stands out among the endless RX-78-2 redesigns. Love it or hate it, you'd immediately recognise the Sys99 among a horde of Gundams.

The only other Gundam I've actually liked beyond "it's okay" since is Barbatos.

Also if you think they all look the same, you aren't terribly familiar with them. Some of them are easy to mistake, like Destiny and Destiny Impulse, or 0 Gundam, Alex, and RX-78. I could see someone making an argument about Psyco and Destroy looking too similar, but Zeta and F91 don't even slightly resemble each other. Ez8, Airmaster, GP02, Virtue, Nu, Freedom, Master, Deathscythe, AGE-2, Exia, Flauros, Arcane, and X all stand out from the RX-78 line just as much as Turn A does. You'd have to be blind or retarded to get EX-S confused with RX-78.

Let's derail this thread a little.

Like I said, there are a handful of pairs that could easily be mistaken for each other, and there *are* like 7 or 8 RX-78s now, but the vast majority of Gundams are easily identifiable from each other and from the original. You need to get your eyes checked if you can't tell ZZ, Unicorn, V2, Blitz, Epyon, Arios, God, G-Saviour, and G-Self apart.

Lol if I keep going I'm going to list them all. Aside from all those one-offs in G (which are all EXTREMELY unique) I'm already around the halfway mark. Relatively few Gundams look close enough to the RX-78 that you could get them confused, assuming you've actually watched the shows. You pretty much have to be unfamiliar with them to the point of only being able to recognize it as "A Gundam I'm not familiar with" or have severe memory problems if you've actually watched the shows and still can't remember which one this is.

It's got a much smoother aesthetic than the Zeta, which comes off as angular and the Rezel line like a walking polygon (bjt damn can they dance).

Probably the same reason you like the Mk II. I love both designs, but the Nu gundam takes it as top in form and function for my taste.

That said, the GP01 and and Double X Gundam strike my fancy. Super-grunt suit for the GP01, and mega beam cannon suit without the bulk of the ZZ or wings of the Wing Zero.
