A large chunk of the comics industry has basically just turned into an extension of Deviant Art.

Honestly it started as relatively realistic world building. Since originally, according to Furman, they're meant to be one gender that Jhiaxis forced a second gender and gender pronouns onto them when he created Arcee. Prior to the later retcons anyway so at the time they weren't even technically gay relationships. It was ruined though because it just became too integral. When there's no romantic gender barrier in a work of fiction friendships get skewed and blurred too much. Roberts is also a writer that's way too easily influenced by fans. Ships become canon when they don't need to, the dead come back when they don't need to, interesting plots are tossed aside when fans insult them or complain. He honestly shouldn't have a twitter.

I think the clunky introduction of more female bots, Hasbro taking more control, and the Original 13 lore tripped things up pretty bad too. I have no issue with female Transformers but they felt way to unnatural. For one the handwave of "Oh yeah we exist" while still trying to squeeze shit into prior canon was an issue, as was MTMTE shoving Nautica everywhere just because she was the only female on the ship. Roberts didn't just find one niche to put her in, he found as many as possible. During the first arc of "season 2" she does things a number of other characters could have handled. Including new characters. Which is a shame because she's a great design, and had at least some decent potential as a character at her core. The 13 primes and all that shit had no place in the IDW continuity. They had built up their own history and lore and they then awkwardly squeezed in the 13 into it too. It's a mess. I'm sure Hasbro forced it on them like they did events and toy-character focus.

Only 100 dollars. Which is a pretty great price seeing as it comes with a 50 dollar leader-class, 6 Joe-like figures, and 9 minifigures. And everyone has a good amount of accessories to boot.
