retro sci fi! post rayguns, robots, anything that comes to mind!
This is probably the oldest ''guy becomes a cyborg and goes mad'' story that I've seen. I'm not really familiar with /m/ material before the 80s. Just the really popular stuff like Forbidden Planet.
These are all lame as fuck.
Old people need to stop posting whatever garbage they're nostalgic for on this board.

You don't like the thread, don't post in it, I think there's a bait thread out there you'll enjoy.
Also, anyone knows a good website to download old pulp magazines ?

I've posted these elsewhere, but if people aren't aware of them, here are some links to sites that host really good scans of this stuff:
- http://www.thepulp.net/the-hunt/digital-pulp/ (most projects listed are defunct)

Proto-Mazinger Army?
Anyone play this? It's a pretty fun homage to pulp sci-fi and Harryhausen monsters.

Have a look in /t/, there's links to a *massive* SF collection. I can recommend the E.E. Doc Smith stuff as long as you realise that while it's cliched, that because he created many of the things that are cliche now.

Wow, thanks anon.
OP I love you
This thread gives me faith in /m/

E.E. Doc Smith didn't deserve to get thrown down the memory hole. His stuff was great.

I'm pretty sure those who give a shit about such things recognize him as one of the big founders of space opera, if not the number one originator.
I also think considering his work cliche is utterly garbage because his writing was so completely insane and beyond over the top that you don't see much going on at that scale outside of shit like Demonbane or GL.

I had this and some other superman cartoons on vhs when i was a kid. Never realized they were this old.

You should see the Batman movie shorts from the 40s. Those are pretty wild.

They probably made the mistake of starting with Triplanetary and First Lensmen.
They are kind of dry and scaled back. Once you get into the other books, the crazy stuff really starts to fly, like armadas the size of galaxies.
