Gundam wing is personally my fav of the gundams, then its seed, then 00 series. but if you wanna get a feel of it start with the original from the late 70's. they are all good initially. but the wing series is hands down the best one, the plot, and the battle scenes are epic.

There is nothing wrong with 08th MS Team, other than that it's not the gritty war drama it's been memed up to be.

Even as a kid, once the Albion crew left the Zeon diamond mine and went up into space, that's when the series fell apart for me. The interesting aspect of the show, something they should have stuck to, was the Albion narrowly catching Gato and GP02 while encountering Zeon remnants on earth. The same should have been in space, with Operation Stardust being the climax of the series.

The second half became muddled with unnecessary subplots like the forced love triangle, the Val-Varo, and the whole La Vien Rose business.

The story is nothing original, I found it to be really predictable, along with all the tropes, the boring battles (except for the Norris one maybe), the nearly perfect and invincible protagonist, and the one dimensional characters.
The MS designs were great though, same as the animation.

Unit 4 shows up as a Gundam. Instead of a flight test of the GP01Fb on the moon. Its a mock battle on the moon with Zeon stealing it.

I'm so glad that Rebellion is fixing all these specific problems in the manga. It explains how Kelly/Gato/Nina all know each other. Kelly/Val Varo live beyond the moon arc with Kelly being the one to kill Burning. And why Vien Rose has that elder AE woman placed there Nina exposed a problem with Unit 0, with Nina being promoted to head designer for Unit 1 with Clehna Hacswell demoted to Vien Rose and secretly finishing Unit 4

Plus it would diminish Alan's death with just ramming into a normal zaku Specially after jealously wanting to pilot the Gundam himself and being called out as a coward a few chapters prior.
