That's precisely what it is; "Macek's vision" is just code for "anything Robotech is what Macek wanted to be apart of, therefore whatever we think is cheap and convenient to produce, that counts as Macek's vision".

Don't forget, it was also Macek's 'vision' to waste everyone's time by taking Mospeada Love Live Alive and turning it into a 1hr 30min long recap video, making the Sentinels by actually not making it and diverging into another random prologue story about a new set of children we apparently did not know anything about and their misadventures in Robotech Academy, and having the crew of the SDF-3 go back in time to help build the original SDF-1 and have Minmay give birth to Zor in Robotech The Odyssey.

In some sense, maybe they're right. I mean, Carl Macek really bought into the mythos people created over the years that he invented this show out of 'nothing' and that he was some kind of creative genius who had this all-knowing vision for everything as opposed to his earlier statements that he and his team whipped the whole thing up under syndication regulations and time restraints. The few die-hard Robotech fans still echo this stuff to this day and honestly believe that somewhere, other than what he wrote down in his collective essay in Robotech Art 3, there exists these super secret notes for projects he always wanted to do and they are all miraculously discovered by Harmony Gold every so often for inexpensive projects.

The man pretty much jumped on anything that gave him a chance to write something about Robotech, even the ill-fated Robotech 3000 that has got to be the one thing of his that Robotech fans called bullshit on. He even accepted a backseat supervising position for Shadow Chronicles to a story he had little-to-nothing to do with.
